It's crazy, I was watching a Taylor Hawkins interview where he was talking about Oliver (Shane) and he was saying how he couldn't play with any songs on the drums and he just plays a few beats. He said "he could be really good he just doesn't care that much about it". Looks like since his father has passed he has started to get a passion for it. I think that is just awesome.

@@anopoabednego6173 That's common I think for children to want to pave their own path. I did the same thing. My Late Grandpa had been racing Sprint Cars since before they existed, and my dad then raced them for 32 years, I grew up at the racetrack. So I wanted NOTHING to do with Sprint Car racing. And people were like, "I just don't understand how you could not pursue that opportunity to drive 1000hp cars." It's because I've been around it my whole life, and I was sick of it. Now I'm 28 and I have a little bit of regret that I never tried it, but I did race motocross for a lot of years, and now I'm a professional musician, so racing on the Weekends isn't really an option for me anyway, so I wrench on them now instead during the week.
Sorry to hijack and make it about me lol, what I am trying to say is, I understand why Shane didn't want anything to do with the drums when he was younger. Probably still wouldn't if not for his father's untimely passing.

I ain’t even gonna lie..I ugly cried watching Shane play THAT song. He beat the hell out of those drums. He played with so much emotion and rage for a 16 year old that just lost his daddy. He is literally his dads prodigy and did him proud. Dave and the other members were constantly watching him to make sure he was ok. You can see they were so proud of him. Shane was so brave to get up there and be the drummer his daddy knew he was!

One thing I noticed, the other recent performances of this song before Taylor died, Dave would often sing the chorus an octave down, or not with as much intensity live (understandably, because it's really hard to sing, especially for 25 years), but in this performance he was really belting it out throughout the whole set. It was at Wembly. I think they did one there because they have a huge fan base there. It was similar to the Freddie Mercury tribute concert. They had different drummers through the day that were either friends of Taylor’s or were inspirational to him. This was the next to last song. Dave broke down and cried a couple of times but it was also a celebration. Dave also lost his mom about 2 weeks ago. Dave chappel however you spell it lol met the Foo Fighters when he hosted snl and they were the music guest. Foo fighters were one of the first if not the first to have a live show and chappel performed the Song Creep. You could really tell that Taylor was very loved and respected by so many music legends.

To the moderators - please do your homework prior to having any type of conversation/review of either this performance or this band. The band is the Foo Fighters. This was a tribute concert to their late drummer Taylor Hawkins on September 3, 2022. The concert was held in London at Wembley Stadium. The drummer for this song is Shane Hawkins, the son of Taylor Hawkins. The least you could do is get the names right. Shane is 16 years old and has played drums, among other instruments, since he could pick up a pair of drum sticks.
I would suggest that if anyone wants to make additional comments on Shane’s performance they do so on the actual You Tube video of the performance that’s also a fundraiser for two charities that the Hawkins family chose to honor Taylor.

At the end, everyone who played came out and took a bow to honor Taylor. Dave was at the mic next to Shane and he kissed and hugged Shane. I do not think there was a dry eye in the house.

No, he broke down during the Times Like These, the first Foo song performed without Taylor, and in the spot, where Taylor, famously saved Dave... when Daves voice went out. Everlong was the last song... after about 8 songs, played, like how Dave usually plays it and he more than kept it together during it.

I watch the special that was put together and up on one of the streaming networks of the memorial concert and it was amazing. His sone Shane has a musical career ahead of him if he wants it. It brought me to tears.

Yes Dave broke his leg in Gothenburg/Sweden, and I was there. Phenomenal gig! Broke the leg during the second song. 😀 Played the whole gig.

It's almost as if they wrote this song for Shane before they even knew why. Shane beats the crap out of them, just like his dad!

He plays like his father. Elbows flying, all out. I think he may end up being even better. Maybe he should just join the band. I've watched this at least 4 times and I tear up every single time. It's so perfect. Playing on his father's drums. I think he was channeling Taylor. 😓

If you look at him while playing, Shane looks like a little boy and a grown man at the same time while playing. Brilliant.
And Dave…he was a drummer who lost a lead singer, and a lead singer who lost a drummer.

The UK holds a very special place in Dave Grohls heart and he considers the UK a 2nd home in many ways. The British fans embraced Nirvana before The US ever did. He planned a tribute gig in the UK and in LA later this month. Its really quite a lovely sentiment behind it.

i still cant believe what this boy is doing right here. he is drumming his pain off. this boy is so huge, at least as talented as his father! you can tell with every single beat how he feels. i admire this kid for his strenght. and you can tell as well, that he truly is family to dave grohl, watching over him, while being devasteded too. they are sharing their loss. Its heartbreking and -warming at the same time.

Kid did work and is a fantastic Drummer. This was Emotional for me because This band means a lot to me and my Childhood. I am a big fan Of Rock n Roll and even Heavier music, anything with passion like this. Seeing Dave stare at Shane during that Solo was beautiful, and have to agree he saw Taylor.. Beautiful moment

Completely agree with the stadium comment. They were the first band to perform at Madison Square Garden when it re-opened after covid. Such a great live band, you always know they're going to put on a great show, that's why they do Glastonbury nearly every year. And they commit to it. When Dave jumped off stage in Sweden and broke his leg, the rest of the band played different covers with Taylor on vocals, and then he still came back and played the rest of the show whilst a doctor held it in place.
