I do not call this a cover song. It is an experience and stands on its own merit. Cover or not, Doesnt matter i. It is its own power and emotion. If you don't get chills, or emotional or tears then there is something seriously wrong with you. He goes from a voice of Angel wings fluttering to a growl that grabs your soul. We are 77 and 80. Tears and goosebumps each time we listen. David Draiman possesses an impressive vocal range that spans over three octaves, ranging from a low of E2 to a high of C6. Amazing!
The host of the show, Conan O'Brian said all of the staff dropped everything and came to the sides of the stage, and that had never happened before this song.
The split second of silence from the audience shows how powerful David Draiman's voice is. In that instance, you can just tell the people in that studio were absolutely blown away.
I watched an interview he did. He was asked about this performance. He said, he had a nodule on one of his vocal cords. He was advised not to do this performance. He had his ENT on standby.
@@patsyelias8732you are correct. He talks about it in interviews. I don’t know where the flu rumor came from, but it’s repeated over and over on reaction videos.
I was about to write the same just before the song started... yes he has! and its nice, that he uses an extra mic instead of the builtin Laptopmics with the complete sound of the room and stuff - such as many other reactors.greetings from germany.
I simply cannot listen to this song and not be blown away. Every time it hits me like it's the first time. Understanding the meaning of the lyrics, paired with his voice, strikes such a chord within.
Soberbio, BELLISIMO, SU VOZZZZZ TOCA Y ARAÑA EL ALMA HUMANA Y LA HACE MÁS HUMILDE,. ES EXTRAORDINARIAMENTE ÚNICA, INIGUALABLE, DE OTRO MUNDO, DEBERÍA SER ESCUCHADA EN TODO EL MUNDO ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Disturbed is a heavy metal band. David Draiman the lead singer is phenomenal. Great reaction. I find the black and white music video of this song is even more haunting.
Your reaction is great. He is the best. He was very ill. They made him sit because he couldn't stand. His fever was 102 degrees. They had to escort him off stage. He said he could not pass up the opportunity to sing this on Conan live sick or not. He trained as a Cantor like his father and grandfather but said he was disillusioned with the Church. Heavy Metal is the perfect music for him. I really enjoyed your reaction. I cry every time i hear this version. Simon and Garfunkel wrote and performed this in 1964 as a Folk Song. Paul Simon told David Draiman that they OWNED that song now and posted it on his website. What a song and voice!
David Draiman is a classically trained cantor and singer. He has one of the most amazing voices out there. There are so many songs by them that are incredible lyrically and combined with his voice...
Isn't that just somethin' else!!! When I discovered this cover earlier this year, I couldn't stop listening to it, over and over and over again. It's the only thing I've obsessed over since finding BTS😊, besides them of course. He's very metal, which is not my kind of music, so I haven't listened to much else, but he does have another song or two that are a bit like this one. 💜
Great reavtion❤ The studio version is amazing too. The video adds souch to it. I love both. I grew up with Simon and Garfunkel singing it and loved it. I never really heard or understood the lyrics the way they struck me in Disturbed's cover of this classic song. I love David Dramain's voice.
Lead singer david was sick all week leading up to this performance. Couldn't rehearse, didn't know if he would be able to perform until he started singing on the night itself. The rest is history
Thank you for your reaction! I've watched so many people react to this song (both this version and the studio version), and yours is one of the best! Thank you again.
The Sound of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel is sad resignation. The Sound of Silence by Disturbed is Dammit, LISTEN! ***** The Warning ***** "And the people bowed and prayed, to the neon god they made." ~ Paul Simon "And the people bowed and prayed, to the golden calf they made." ~ Old Testament
First written and sang by Simon & Garfunkel who gave him fantastic reviews when they heard David’s version. I put mobile phones in our generation into the neon lights, it’s saying we have no interaction with real people. U-tube the proud owner of people thinking they have friendship with only the written word. Written in the 70s, it’s a grim reality that they new then what was happening. 😭
No offense meant, but this song was first recorded in March of 1964, not in the 1970s, though Paul Simon wrote it in 1963 and then kept working on it for a few months until they recorded it in 1964.
Right?? I love when a Reactor loves this as much as I do. I have way too many good things to say about David Draiman, Disturbed and this performance. Too many to type 🖤❤️🔥🎼
Listen to A Reason to Fight and Hold on to Memories for songs similar to this one, and Stricken, Inside the Fire, Stupefy, Down with the Sickness for the hard rock!
Disturbed is, as I see you’ve been told, a heavy metal band. They’ve been together since 1994. This is absolutely not indicative of their usual style. David is a trained Cantor, which explains his extremely powerful style. The official video drew me into exploring more of their catalog which I came to really enjoy, mostly because of David’s voice. I am NOT a heavy metal fan. Still am not, Pentanonix is my go to ALWAYS. But there is something about not only David’s voice, but also the extremely powerful lyrics of their songs. For another mellow one…I suggest…HOLD ON TO MEMORIES. Stepping up in intensity…THE LIGHT…A REASON TO FIGHT (the official live version is best) then their best know hit and a their usual style…DOWN WITH THE SICKNESS, But also…STRICKEN…STUPIFY…PRAYER. I’m here for PTX but would love to see you do some more DISTURBED. 🤗💋🥰
Same here. I like Disturbed and there's nothing from them that I dislike or wouldn't listen to at any given time, but I'm not a heavy metal fan. I like to say, I'm not a "Disturbed" fan, but I am a "David Draiman" fan.

And then some!! Love my Disturbed CANT wait to see them for the 10th time Feb 22,2024 FISTS IN THE AIR!!❤
Conan said this performance was the absolute best ever and the audience was shocked!
He was even sick with a high fever and nailed it ❤
I watched an interview he did. He was asked about this performance. He said, he had a nodule on one of his vocal cords. He was advised not to do this performance. He had his ENT on standby.

David was sick. That’s why he’s setting. 102/3 temp. He has perfect pitch! Absolutely amazing voice. Love!
I'm American and think this reactor has a wonderful voice

I'm sooooo glad you started with the live. It's actually better than the video. His voice is amazing

POWERFUL CORRECT!!? Hold on to memories is another. A tear jerker
It is not fair that the reviewer has never heard the original version by Simon and Garfunkel so he can enjoy the how amazing this version truly is.
Amen!!

I didn't know that. Thanks for sharing! Makes it even more amazing, doesn't it?
It was crazy watching this for the first time, knowing the band and who he is.

Hes a hard rock guy but hes sooo damn good
React to DISTURBED'S. THE LIGHT, STRICKEN, VENGEFUL ONE, REASON TO FIGHT, PRAYER... STUPIFY... HEY YOU .. ARE YOU READY... LAND OF CONFUSION...
Dont forget the drumms
Great video my friend, It was originally a song by Simond & Garfunkel, ever heard of a prog rock band RUSH, check out (Fly By Night)
He is also a clssically trained Jewish Cantor
Musical tastes are a matter of personal preference. Personally I prefer the original version of this song by Simon and Garfunkle.
Sadly, ALL their "metal" songs sound exactly the same, but THIS is pure talent.
He's into Metal now! HATE metal Did you know he started singing in "OPERA"?! TRUE STORY!
