David Draiman trained in early life in Israel as a cantor.....has classical training in singing. This performance is astonishing because he was sick with the flu !!! He was fighting a fever!!! He and the rest of Disturbed band are amazing. He is a baritone.
He was trained as a cantor in the United States hun.
David’s brutally beautiful vocals are beyond most performers in today’s sad existence of “acting singers” that have no business becoming popular and calling themselves singers.
G to A4. This performance had a standing ovation and applause for about 10 minutes. It was nominated for a Grammy. This Conan performance has had over 100 million views with the studio version of over 800 million from 2015.
David Draiman is an incredible vocalist, Disturbed’s cover of this song garnered attention from an entirely new audience, an audience that would never have considered heavy metal artists as formidable talents. Also, the other band members, Mike Wengren, John Moyer and Dan Donegal are super talented and dedicated musicians. I enjoy watching reactions to this performance because it always leads to the reactors diving more deeply into the music of this very talented, multi-faceted group.
Simon and Garfunkels version was a warning of what was to come if we didn’t change. Disturbed’s version is rage that we didn’t heed that warning. Great reaction to what I think is the best version!

Anyone asks me about David's talent and I play them this. His Cantor training makes his range so beautifully done and controlled. Then you have his experience and training in Metal vocals...the seamless transitions in and out of the vocal Fry are ✨chef's kiss✨. Fantastic arrangement and performance by this entire band of incredible musicians.

David is unbelievably talented. The range of styles they utilize in their songs is incredible. I really like "Inside The Fire" and "The Light". I second Falling In Reverse, they have the best of rock and rap in their songs, with great messages. I would also recommend Sabaton "Bismarck". More to come later.

Great reaction! This is one of those songs where if you are going to perform it you have to own it, which Draiman does. This song is timeless because we still worship “neon gods”, our phones, and things just gets worse.

I lost my son to cancer, so for me the best Disturbed song is Hold onto Memories. Great reaction, gentlemen.

David comes from generations of Jewish Cantors. One thing I learned was that he has no tattoos out of respect to his grandfather and his heritage. He removes his piercings when going home. All the band are solid!
David is a master of his instrument and a good man.
I suggest a good place to start someone on metal is begin at beginning. Go back to KISS, Metallica, Ozzy, etc..

David Draiman...amazing range and control...a powerful yet soulful voice that can go from warm baritone to angelic tenor, from clear as a crystal to rasp/distortion/vocal fry and back on a dime, which is incredibly difficult to do . He is so unique as he actually puts vibrato on his distortion!....also VERY difficult to do...one of the best male vocalists on the planet imho. Loved your reaction guys.

Another brilliant song from Disturbed is The light, its words are so powerful, as is the music and arrangement. Incredible band.
Late reaction to this, lads. I loved the original Simon and Garfunkel version which I always thought of as a great song. Not a huge fan of covers usually, as I think they feel like someone riding someone else's horse away. But this cover takes the original and makes something new and, I think, very impressive. It feels different enough to become its own thing, rather than a mere cover. And I agree, the dude has some very good pipes. Congrats on 80,000 subscribers btw.

Rock and roll as a genre was derived from blues and country genre influences. Also if you have not heard welcome to the jungle by Guns N’ Roses you should.
If you want something that a rock guy and a rap guy may like then listen to "Industructable" it's my favorite Disturbed song.

It has been said that the original was a gentle push to do the right thing and this is a shove because we didn't listen the first time. I have also heard that he was very sick that day and almost didn't go on. Amazing.
You should do a reaction to the studio music video which is brilliant and also the vocals only version from the Conan show, no music as it's been taken out so you hear pure vocals

Shout is Tears for Fears. That was my college favorite... the band. I liked the song, but that is mid list for them.
I guess the rapper never heard of the Beatles or the Rolling Stones.
