    When Sir William Bragg was continuously challenged about it not being possible to be a scientist and religious, he said "science and religion are indeed opposed, but only as the thumb and forefinger are; using both you can grasp anything." Was your graphic illustration with your hand on that conscious Jordan? I hope it was unconscious and therefore intuitive, as for some no doubt strange reason this would please me more.

    Good sir, what is your music called? I loved when Mr Peterson said "something profound of human nature: it's lack of completion" as your music played. So hauntingly meaningful, thank you for that.

    It will never cease to amaze me how reasonable people can be persuaded by the ridiculousness of religion. I guess you can't win 'em all.

    • @MrGenitalWarts9
      @MrGenitalWarts9 7 років тому +6

      Amarandum Valdamaris Did you listen to what he was said? He was being very reasonable. Most people in the west don't take religious stories as an event that literally happened.

    • @liberval9425
      @liberval9425 7 років тому +2

      ...Because all available historical records showed that they didn't happen... Moses and Abraham never existed, and the Gospels were written decades after Jesus died by people who never saw him. If you believe the miracle stories of Jesus based on the account of four myth-believing first century jews who never saw any of what they wrote about and thought the earth was flat, that qualifies as unreasonable in my view. I'm not saying he isn't a smart guy - many smart people have been taken in by this claptrap. I agree with basically everything he says about politics.

  • @CipherSerpico

    Christopher Hitchens said “religion can make incredibly smart people say incredibly dumb things”.
    Case in point. Peterson is so brilliant about so many things but he is dead wrong about religion.

    Ask Phineas Quimby how he would reconcile science and religion.

  • @RTYWLive.Forever

    He seems more agnostic than religious. He uses religion and philosophy as a tool to build upon ideas. Not one idea I have heard from him has not met the criteria for empirical experimentation. I don't view that as religious.

      I don't think he believes in the bible in a literal way, but it probably holds some meaning to him, along with other texts. Mystic maybe?

  • @blairdavidson2284
    @blairdavidson2284 7 років тому +3

    He had me till he started babbling about religion and how to act. Morality is subjective in the bible, that's a hard sell.

    • @RantTherapist
      @RantTherapist 7 років тому +3

      Your thoughts on religion are subjective too. Do you even understand the meaning of the world morality and subjective and in and the and bible? You really need to evaluate yourself and your actions and the way that you use language to convey what you believe which is a shell of who you really are or aspire to be yet you're lost within this whirlwind of a world that pushes you to be something, pushes you so it can take something out of you, when religion teaches you to be something without pushing you to shape you into a mold where it can take something out of you. Think about that and self-reflect for a few years by people watching and watching the patterns they employ themselves in thinking they have a choice when they were predesigned and predestined to be in those cycles by the power of those in upper scale upper end echelons of society who are taught to think on a level of another warlock style cum shots dribbling on your status symbol.

      Give it a chance. I am an atheist and it's one of the things that struck me as annoying and disappointing about him at first. He is not a christian in the sense of he literally believes in the biblical stories in the sense that they are truth in the same context as scientific truth. His view on religion is far more complex and rationalized than you may think. It's not careless.

    • @CipherSerpico
      @CipherSerpico 6 років тому

      Rant Therapist Your comment is nothing but babble. The claims of religion are either true or false.
      If they are false (which they are) then we should not subscribe to them. And not only are they false, but they are also grotesquely immoral. It is not moral to sacrifice your child if god asks you to. It is not moral to mutilate the genitals of children. It is not moral to preach that being gay will cause you to be be burned and tortured and mutilated for all eternity, in Hell. It is not moral to say that people who do not subscribe to your religion will also be sent to Hell for eternity. It is not moral to preach that women are inferior to men ... And I could list a million more immoral teachings.
      Peterson is a brilliant man, who is right about a lot of things but he is dead wrong about religion.
