I dont think on the buses would have worked without him. talented guy. doesnt matter how many times you watch them you still laugh. Nice one Alan
Hi James I think it was a magical ingredient of character uncertainty Blakey would have made a big hole. He was the foil turn the naughty boys 😊
What a great series ,all watched it with my Dad,Mum and all the family ,so funny RIP .
Another classic comedy that takes me back to my youth, rip Blakey, remember watching it with my gran as a young lad back in the early seventies, always got us laughing 😊
As a boy in the 70s, he and Reg Varney as Butler always made me laugh. As did the inscription on his headstone "Caught the last bus to the cemetery gates" 😁
Thanks for visiting his resting place Alan. And for posting it too of course.
(Another one that's caused me to well up slightly) 😢
Hello Alan, He did have a lovely headstone with his character name and like you said the last bus to the cemetery because I watched the characters before the film. I actually feel sad when I'm leaving which I know is stupid but it's true. Thank you, mate Alan
Thank you Alan for another fantastic tribute to a tremendous actor I thought his role as Blakey was really funny I loved all of on the buses I have all the dvds of the series and all 3 films and will certainly watch them all again and he was also a great character In last of the summer wine a fantastic actor will never be forgotten

Thank you Alan. Another lovely and informative tribute. Stephen Lewis was a wonderful actor and played one of the most iconic comical characters of our time ❤
He was a clever guy much more than I realised when I did the research. Thank you, Graham
I to loved on the buses, from Australia, I watched most of the episodes and still have a DV set but haven’t watched for sometime now….Ironically I end up being a bus driver for the last 10 years….on the Central Coast NSW….Moved to Perth and still took up driving there too….God be with you Blakey…rest in peace..from Downunder.
I was born and worked in Greenwich where Stephen lived at the time. I’ve always been a big fan of On the buses. When I was at school I had a pt time job in a grocers in Greenwich and Stephen came in . I didn’t recognise him at first but my boss knew him and told me who he was. Stephen did Blakey for me and told me to get the bus out ! . I’ll never forget that. What a lovely man he was to his fans and very well spoken .
RIP Stephen.

Another great one Alan. As always, thoroughly enjoyed it. On The Buses is timeless - what a brilliant comedy, with superb actors such as Stephen (the whole cast were marvellous). I always feel your sadness to when you leave and your hesitation. I think what you do and share with us views really makes us reflect on things because as you say life is short and somehow and somewhere it is important to find some happiness. Well done Alan and thank you again.
We get to know them don't we from the TV and it feels like their friends. And you know you'll never be going back so you do feel a little bit sad. But we did our bit for the memory you and me. Thank you Louise

Thanks Alan, On the buses used to be one of my favourite shows, I've seen everyone plus all three films. Stephen Lewis was a fantastic actor in my opinion, It's a shame he always had to play second fiddle. RIP Stephen ❤
Thank you Steve. I know I didn't start out as a big part of on the buses, but as the series developed I think he was one of the leading stars and the very clever champ in real life. All the best, Alan
This was pure conedy in the 70s irreverant and funny, loved it. It would not have been the same without Blakey
Blakey on his last journey through heavenly gates, a very talented man now at Peace 😢
Such nostalgia 👍
Hi Alan , another great episode of a great actor. I saw him in hull in panto with Kathy staff years ago. Very funny. Hope your well mate all the best Tony
Hi Tony, wherever show he was in he always made it a great deal. Better. Such a character actor. Thank you, Alan
Him and anna were best. Hated Olive but had tea every week. Xx
I’ve been watching him in On the Buses on ITV 3 in the mornings as well. I have Sparrows can’t sing on dvd its brilliant. It does not surprise me they released it with sub titles in the US as they done that for the film The Commitments. He was also in the comedy Oh Doctor Beeching in the 90’s. Thank you❤
I'm going to try and get a version of the film somewhere. Thank you for telling me it's a good film. Green willow
so sad to watch this, I love on the buses.
I've just looked up "Swallows can't sing" on IMDB, it had such a big cast of famous actors, one of the cast was Bob Grant, And that famous Cockney couple, Arthur Mullard & Queenie Watts, I say Cockney couple because acted as husband and wife, including, Holiday on the Buses
RIP Stephen Lewis
I've never seen the film but because it's got so many classic cockney actors. I'd love to see it if I can find it. Thank you, Waco
My replies are been deleted, Alan I viewed it online last night, search for "sparrow's don't sing ok" it's a russian site like YT and seems to be okay
B BOOM 😊😊😊😊😊
"I'll have you Butler"
❤
Even though he played Smiler in last of the summer wine. He was still Blakey
Thanks lam Richard and Frankie dog ❤
Hello Richard woff Frankie
Ahh Alan your so sweet I loved this character in on the buses so funny on the buses classic comedy I’ve had an idea you should purchase mini camper van models and leave one as a momentous from you to mark your visit instead of a flower what do you think I think it would be cool thanks Alan ❤️😊
That's a great idea! Thank you! Crystal, I might be able to get a little motorhome. Beep beep plastic weatherproof sign just a small one and leave it. I'll look into that and let you know. But thank you for thinking. Alan
Duemike yardwood. Great. One😊
I really likes Mike. If I get the opportunity I will. Thanks Ken
He was lots of other programs, One foot in the grave, Oh Dr Beeching.
I'm not sure if you mentioned, Dont Drink The Water. Not everyone's cup of tea, but I liked it.
I never saw the series so I don't know if it was good or not. I presume you think it was
I didn't know he was a script writer. As one myself, it's a hard thing to do and be successful. RIP Stephen Lewis.
That's exactly true of me also. Anthony, because he wrote this majority of the script for that film. He must have been pretty good. Certainly want the dimwit might blakey
My father in law is buried just a few rows away from him. Also here is Timothy evans and 1 of jack the rippers victims. We live a 10 minute walk away.
Thank you scratchy. Yes, I've actually seen those graves. I've still got the films but thank you for telling me. Regards, Alan
Great to meet you ?
