I have one of these in multicam. I specifically like this pack for “roughing around in the woods”. I feel like I can toss it around not a single thing will happen to it. I also got it for a good price so I don’t really mind it getting covered in grime. I also use a Mystery Ranch 3 Day Assault for the same purpose and I find that one more comfortable, but tend to use it less than this one because of the reasons I stated above. Thanks for the great review of this pack. It’s a good starter for anyone looking for a durable medium sized pack for 1-2 days that you can get for less than $100.
Thanks for showing. I´ve the same pack, like you´ve said, the volume of it is good. It´s enough, but not to much space in it. I´ll take mine for a little time out in the woods. Hiking, relaxing in a hammock, having a coffee or such. Just some comfort items for a few hours free time in it. But I´m a big friend of ALICE packs too. The large and the medium are both good choices. Thankfully the US Army Surplus stuff is easy available here in Germany 😉
I just ordered one today. I'm going to have to take it to the tailor to attach a PALS strip on each side so I can attach my two sustainment pouches to each side. One of which holds my Thermarest/Cascade "self inflatable" sleeping pad. Folded in half lengthwise and rolled. My Dragoon Ridgeback bivy tent will fit in the main compartment along with my woobie, etc... I'd been wanting a pack like this - "bomb proof". Don't have to worry about it failing. Very informative video.
The canteen pouch and the ifak pouches work perfect with this bag for smaller sustainment type pouches. The actual sustainment pouches really limit your ability to get in and out of the bag easily. I also have the waist pack attached to the bottom of mine and my little snugpack ionosphere bivy tent fits perfectly inside. Or you can fit a nice poly sill nylon tarp with a woobie and probably a few other things for shelter or sleep system inside.
While i love my usgi bags for bushcraft and camping and hunting purposes, but when it comes to actually bugging in/out or shtf, im in the grey man school of thought. When shit hits the fan you make yourself a target running around all tacticool loaded down with military gear. A person that looks like a random homrless guy with a regular school lookong pack would have an easier time blending in and not look like they have a toon of gear that everyone wants.
hmm have been looking for a cheap school backpack that can hold a thicker thinkpad laptop and a uhmwpe level 3 plate (4lb) coz thats the reality of school now. crazy how cheap these are. really high quality too. i got a tool backpack with the plastic tub bottom and its just so awkward and falls over and feels super cheap so whats the point. tried modifying the stitching inside and that made the balance worse with what i have inside.

That is awesome to hear and I agree I like my bigger green ALICE for extended stays in the woods.
I have one of these packs . I shoe glued velcro on mine for ventilation tubes from a plate carrier.
