One of the biggest things I like about your videos Major Andrew. I never get bored watching your videos, a lot of folks talk about what they are going to do, or about themselves, and what they are trying to sell, for at least the first five minutes or more. Always some good to know info, very usable, from start to finish. If folks would look in your archives, they could mix and match a kit that would suite pretty much any situation. I hope you never get too commercial on us. I don't mind someone trying to sell me something, just teach me something at the same time. Outstanding as always. Catching and eating squirrel on the spot! That's putting your money where your mouth is! Lots of folks talk about it! Lots of posers taking over YT. Thanks for keeping it real.
I really appreciated the inclusion of cleaning and preparing the squirrel, in this vid; and your discussion of keeping your knives & sheaths clean, burning off pathogens, as we do in the microbiology lab...just a quick swipe through a flame usually does the trick. Most other instructors rarely show these things, and your inclusion of this information is likely to help protect your students/viewers. Thank you!
You NEVER disappoint… Juggling my morning chores… Always include this channel… As I’m learning about survival… I’m preparing, like the little squirrels, for winter…. Firewood-check Garden produce- dehydration, canning (and sharing, of course😊) Harvest time. Busy… but, oh so rewarding… May God bless /lead us as we prepare for winter… And survival… ( And may God especially bless you and your family, Andrew, as you share this much needed knowledge 😍)
Thanks for another great video. I was taught through 100 safety program to immediately got the squirrel and open the cavity so it will lose body heat and wash it in the creek if possible thank you for showing us to sterilize your tools. I did not know that I should have.😊
Finally and most importantly someone who actually show and tells you how to process game for when those MRE's etc have run out and you really need to fend for yourself. Also great actual demonstration of how to make your water safe to drink straight from the stream with the sanitisiing of the bottle top and threads. Thank you Sir for the info we actually do need.
happy to see your channel is growing. every Sunday, I always waiting for you TWO to post. Corporal Corner and yours. both channels giving realistic and clear tutorial -- and it seems in the near future, we are going to be pushed back to rely on those skills again.
Excellent video, Andrew. A lot of great information. I especially like the hygiene advice concerning water purification and sterilizing metal tools from pathogens. I really like that knife you were using.
Great video! Straight to the point and very informative. No worrying about what others do or comparing to them. You have obviously used and tried this info and now demonstrate for us what worked for you. Kind of like the old time NINJA, the BS died on the battlefield. Just bring home the good stuff! Keep making these great videos.
Simple, efficiency, no big oversized and overpriced knife (and branded material), direct to the point. 👏👏👏👏✌️👍 Best teaching video among the billion on the tube. Thanks a lot Sir !!
Bro, you are the most efficient instructor. No wasted oxygen or energy. Dave, that dude puts me to sleep LMAO. My wife is also laughing at your extra ammo, grenades, goggles, claymores, and tacticle referances on a bushcraft and survival channel. 😂😂👍🍺 love you my dude.
Firearms, bear bangers or firecrackers, flares, even "bear spray," can help to prevent or defuse wild animal encounters. Ruthless people require certain other measures. Been there, seen that. Soldiers like Andrew are accustomed to carrying particularly lethal items. Gas masks or other breathing apparatus might save people from severe smoke inhalation in case of wildfire. A large part of Alberta was smoky hell the past summer. Maui probably much worse. Complacency kills..
My favorite go bag was a modern duffle bag reduced in length, a waterproof extension inside (much like the M56 combat butt pack has). Although this is only 1 sack/bag it holds all except "utility belt equipment" (knife first aid kit compass, ranger beads, canteen, etc.). If I feel like a "long walk" I put a wwii era pack board on it backwards. Then I can add canvas, extra line, long handle hatchet. I always have my " wobblie" folded at top so I can reach up and pull it down in miserable weather. My poncho is a old west type painted canvas big enough to cover a man and horses backside by my grandpa in 1923. So I use this as a quick shelter too. I use a lot of LC2 and old Korean war equipment these days.
Great demo for water treatment showing the canteen system and important chemical process for "bleeding the cap", wait time. Bivvy and bag is essential kit.
I found some surplus gear pouches I use. I use the M4 double mag pouch for my pruning shears, and my tent stakes. I have a Marine pop up flare pouch that I keep my folding saw in. I also got the folding E-Tool and canvas type bag, that also fits my Deer Skin gloves in. I MOLLE the pouches onto the outside of the pack, leaving the inside still empty for the clothing, shelter, etcetera.
You're videos always provide great illustrations and examples of skills and techniques I can to go out and try to duplicate. Thanks for taking the time!
Exactly the instruction our young troops need, presented in a concise and professional manner. We live in the tropics so our kits would be customized slightly, based on our needs. Thank you for another superior video.
As it is relatively easy to start your camp fire with a lighter, I always start mine, and taught my sons the same thing, to always use the ferrocium rod and knife. This way you always stay in practice in case you don’t have that handy Bic or it runs out of fuel. Great video 👍👍
Me royal marines 11yrs i like this guy, hes ok, hes not a dick, he hasa fantastic manner, no bad manners or bad language, happy for my grand kids to watch or recommend for anyone, kids or not, some is not my way but i was royal marine and this guy "ranger" i understand but the guy is not bad at all. Thats a lot for me to even care. Good bloke.
I spent my twenty in with these 1 quarts with tablets and never heard of "bleeding the cap." I bet I learn one new piece of info every week. Thanks much sir.
I have been bow hunting, hiking and camping since 1986 and still have the same backpack lol its a jansport leather bottom and is one of my most precious possessions next to my ruger security six and my Victorinox officer's knife.
Those canteen pouches can fit the stainless bottle mug and cover kit from self reliance outfitter . Big spout easy to clean and actually fits in canteen pouch with all the accessories provided in Dave's kit
I live near forests full of pine. I make a fire starter by picking up an opened pine cone and find a strong stick which I carve one end into a wedge. Then I use the stick to collect pine sap dripping from trees and packing it into the pine cone. I thought about wrapping one in paper so I can take it with me without making too much mess . They light easily and burn hot for a long time if you spend about ten minutes collecting sap. I light them with a small piece of fluffed up cotton based tinder which I make at home and spark it with a small ferro rod. I have the ferro rod and tinder in an aluminum capsule on my keychain. I always have a heavy folding knife I can batton through firewood if I have to. I don't always carry a saw on my person unless I plan to go into the woods but if I do, I can accomplish a lot more and be several times more comfortable. A shovel is another item that multiplies capabilities.
I'm really loving these long form videos. I Slept in the woods last night in my snugpack SF bivy for the first time and it was good to go. I'm in humid hot Florida so bugs and wet weather are my biggest concerns... had to wear a headnet because the mosquitos wanted me badly. I couldn't imagine sleeping in the woods without that bivy bag and I'm also happy I don't have to carry a 5 pound tent with me anymore.
Andrew, you are awesome, brother. I've been out since 2004, and the knowledge that you're giving (not in this video) is outstanding and real. Since I've been out, I have maintained the mind frame of survival and preparedness because I believe you have to stay ready, so you never have to get ready. Keep up the great videos, brother.
Fast shelter I used back in the day (last millennia...) was to take 6' x 6' roll of canvas (or heavy plastic) tarp (both easy to pack), lay it out flat, put a good old Mil issue OD blanket on it (or a woobie), then either lay in the middle and fold it over me like a taco or get on one edge and roll up in it like a tortilla! Kept me warmer than my mom's home grown Jalapenos!
Great tip on disinfecting your tools. That is something I have always tried to be careful for myself. Little things like that can lead to big problems in the field. That squirrel looked outstanding! Great job as always brother.
Oh, wrap a rubber band around the light into the space just under the red push button. Make sure you get it on the back of the red button, above the light body, and wrap it a good three or four times, so it's snug. It helps keep the button from being depressed in a pocket, or pouch. I have crammed pockets, then pulled the lighter out later to find it empty. That sucks.
Outstanding video and instruction. Hope nobody was triggered on the squirrel dressing. Having never done anything like that it seems to me water purification and food procurement and preparation has to be done right the first time. Fire and shelter can be fiddled with to achieve the desired result but food and water can have potentially catastrophic results if not done exactly right. So the info about checking the organs was useful beyond measure. Bravo Zulu on a well executed video.
Been awhile my friend , Hunting season is getting close ! Can’t wait for the season to begin , I’ve been squirrel hunting some waiting for dove and grouse Turkey, deer , that would be a perfect bag for that to vary compact ! Thanks for all your knowledge to pass on and for your service to the great USA ,

Thank you for sharing this information. You are very knowledgeable about everything you say and do. I enjoy watching all of your content. Thanks again 👍
Major Andrew, your videos are entertaining and educational Sir. I appreciate your time and effort in giving us viewers beginner, and advanced survival techniques and skills we can all use. Outstanding Sir thank you, Major.
I like that you said this kit could be a bug out bag, bail out bag, 72-hour kit, get home bag. It's good to know why the labels and the purpose of each kit, but sometimes I wish people would just learn the basic items and stop worrying so much. I think it makes more sense to have a kit and then when you need to act, just add specific items you need like a crowbar or a lockpick set.
Great video/ we are all still learning, I am in the woods at least 100 nights a year some time a little more. Watching videos sometime easy or better ways of doing things. Thanks
Once again great video. I really like the discussion format and the background of what a soldier would carry in his assault pack. Your style of presentation is professional and enjoyable to listen to. I wish more success.
I have watched this video numerous times and it never cease's to amaze me the amount of information that we can take from it with so little kit. Great video Andrew well done mate 👍🏻👍🏻
Nobody teaches thefundamentals of survival better than you. WELL DONE THAT MAN!
IKR, the inverted bottle freezing was new to me, never disappoints.
@@worm_vaquero I've never watched anyone dress a kill before. Very cool.
He's definitely a great instructor.
Chris you are so right!!!
Because he lives this life so that’s the difference
Agreed. Good instruction Major

You're the best survival youtuber. Thank you for making videos ❤
Especial thanks for processing the squirrel, that is something I haven't done before.
All instruction with no production! Not one minute wasted on bs filler talk. Thank you!
By far, best survival and patrol video I’ve seen. U.S Army 1971.
I always learn something from your videos bloke.
Learn at least one new thing per day is a motto of mine , knowledge is king.
Andrew you're the goods! Every week a top shelf tutorial. Well done sir, thank you.

U just rinse bacteria doesn't do anthing "pathogenic" it just shows up as required

Best bushcraft / survival channel on the Internet right now!
No B.S , no constant plugs for product.
PERFECT !
B.T.W when you were discussing signaling / lighting, you mentioned a " wolf tail "
What is that ? Sounds cool af 😂

Great video. I've learned quite a lot from you in just the last 2 weeks. I appreciate it. Thanks for putting these out here, stay safe.🙏🇺🇸🙏🇺🇸
A wealth of essential information, well presented and clearly understandable in 30 minutes- amazing!!!

Chicken of the tree. Outstanding.
I'm getting flashbacks from briefings in the military from many orbits ago!! Love your presentations, all meat, no fluff!

I recommend checking out the Bergen backpack from Helikon Tex, a spacious backpack for expeditions 😉
Always a highlight of the day to watch one of these videos.
Great instructions. It's great to see someone finally clean, cook and eat wild game. And include sanitation advice. Awesome brother. Semper Fi
Orange interior is double duty...it brightens the interior to make it easier to find gear, and a safety marker as shown.

Thank you for another wonderful video. You remind me of my military years. They were the most rewarding time of my life
Great video. Thank you for another great idea.
I really like the simplicity of this kit. The goretex bivvy and sleeping bag is very ideal.
As it is relatively easy to start your camp fire with a lighter, I always start mine, and taught my sons the same thing, to always use the ferrocium rod and knife. This way you always stay in practice in case you don’t have that handy Bic or it runs out of fuel. Great video 👍👍
