At the beginning you discuss your hesitancy to discuss because there are so many different applications. I am not in the military, law enforcement, or anything else like that and I am OLD! LOL The reason I like your gear reviews is to see if they can be applied to hunting, bushcraft, hiking, mountaineering, and so on applications. For example, pants, shirts, boots, and now backpacks. So, it is a tactical to practical thing as well. I enjoy your whit, dry humor, in addition to the good gear info. Thanks!
We don't all live in moms basement. Most of us are old retired grunts with nothing better to do but relive our youth and prepare for the Apocalypse. I use my old issued assault pack that I love and use too. I also have a medium and large ruck packed and ready. (Pathetic, retired 5 years now and still packed for the field) I enjoy your videos and look forward to them, Keep them coming, not cumming.
Semper Fi! 0369 1977-1983 My A.L.I.C.E. Pack was stolen in 1985 with all my gear. Since then I’ve been making go-bags as a hobby. I have so many kits and bags now (one for wife, one for all 4 adult kids, and dozens for me), I could outfit a whole squad of jarheads. Or a boatload of squids (although I don’t know why I would).
Hey just thought I'd say this, but ibuprofen like all NSAIDs has a blood thinning side effect. Which of course, makes it harder for your blood to clot if you suffer a life-threatening hemmorage. I suggest carrying paracetamol as your every day pain-killer instead as it has barely any known side effects aside from potential liver damage if you overdose hard. I salute that you carry extra IFAKs though, it sorta melts this medics heart to see people doing that.
All OTC medicines will melt an organ if you use too much of it. Personally I find NSAIDs far more effective for pain relief than Paracetamol/Acetaminophen AKA Tylenol. Aspirin is notoriously bad for blood clotting but great if someone suffers a heart attack or ischemic stroke for those of us civilian side. Gotta pick your poison. Right tool for the right job.
Much agreed, not hating on NSAIDs when used for the right things. I used diklofenac gel for most of my sports injuries when I played hockey with great effect and the blood thinning effect can be considered a feature in the cases you mentioned. Though in this case I felt obligated to educate a fellow service member on NSAID side effects and why they're bad in a military/trauma context.
As someone who barely notice any difference between taking painkillers and not taking them makes me wonder, how much diffrence do you other people feel by taking painkillers? Cause if someone had a life-threatening hemmorage I wouldn't think about giving them ibuprofen or paracetamol cause in my world they would do jack and shit.

He got me cause of the akv vid. Don't know if it's from that vid, but he dropped a gem - if you ever bought a gun, but couldn't find ammo for it, go ahead and do the UA-cam shit.
You should know how much my wife loves you and your videos. You create these wonderful videos where you just list off all kinds of expensive stuff for me to buy.
Interesting choice of gear. **You should mention that long-term storage of any sleeping bag or puffy clothes means letting them lay FULLY open and UNcompresed. Otherwise loft (thickness) and therefore insulative value will be lost when stored compressed. Most good sleeping bags come with a large storage bag of about a 10 gallon size. You had a lot of First Aid gear. But the BEST First Aid preparation to have is training and more training. Just speaking as an EMT/Ski Patroller.
I don't relate to the "If you've ever" at the beginning but I do have something similar. I was on a camping trip with a couple friends and showed them how to light a cigarette with someone else's cigarette. The way you do it is you both take a drag in while touching the tips of the cigs together. They lit each other's cigs a little too often and they both had lighters.
Years ago, when I represented a different pack mfg., I purchased Tactical Tailor 3 day packs for myself. 40 years ago, I was hoofing through central, southern and eastern Asia. My pack weighed 19 pounds and I ate locally. Thereafter, for years, my situation in the US was that I would carry sealed and locked down duffel bags with gear in the car and an empty pack. In an urban setting, I would have to go to ground or underground if shtf and take the time to assess what specific gear I would need to put in my pack and also change clothes. It is nice to have a go bag at home or ready to go, but I simply could not use that approach. Now, I am at a stage that I am old enough to be your grandfather. Can't do miles with a 40 pound pack.
Three things you were missing that could come in handy in a CBRN situation were gyger counters for the different types of radiation, a CBRN suit and filters for your M40
Legit, those dudes have no clue. Saw their two man room clearing video and it was horrendous and filled with mistakes. What do you expect without the guidance of the PAPA himself?
Used a poncho with an emergency blanket to substitute a sleeping bag before. The poncho buttoned up so you could still bust out and the thin and shiny emergency blanket is good at keeping heat in and takes up less room tan an actual sleeping bag, and since its inside the poncho it wont give you away.
The Cannae Phalanx is a good pack. The extra side pouch is an add-on from Cannae called the EDC 9x6 Storage Pouch which MOLLEs onto the open pocket on the side. There's MOLLE on pretty much every square inch of the thing. Consequently, it is definitely not a "gray man" pack. Anyone who sees you with it is going to assume you're packing, and dirty hippies on hiking trails or at civilian campgrounds will give you dirty looks. But if you let dirty hippies change what you do, you're not really an American.
I’m a dirty hippy can got myself a good mystery ranch pack to help me carry my hammock, my extra hemp clothes, bong, etc. with all the molle I can hang a dream catcher, my pipe, my hemp wick…unreal pack ;)
An air mattress or something similar is essential in cold-ish weather. It works well with a quilt (to save space and weight, and to not feel trapped in a sack in hostile territory). Goodnight when you carry an extreme weather sleeping bag, but sleep directly on the ground. You'll freeze even at moderate temperatures. A bivvy bag or poncho+liner is also quicker and less noticable than a tarp. Also have anti diarrhea medication and water purification (filter and/or tablets). Some caffeine or pre-work out powder, sportsdrink powder. And off course a water bladder, you probably pack that outside the pack, so you have it on you when not wearing the pack. For underwear, wear synthetic or merino wool. No cotton. Carrying extra underwear isn't absolutely essential in a 3day pack, socks are. It might be a good plan to pack a regular underpants and wear a thermal in slightly colder temperatures. Switch when temperature will likely go up. Great video.
I don't understand why I have to keep telling people this, it's such a no brainer! BUTT WIPE!! Apparently I'm the only person on the planet that is aware of this item and it's very important uses. Maybe it's because where I live, those wet wipes, while they are useful at times, are frozen for most of the year and I have never found them to be a good fire starting tinder. I personally prefer the Scott brand for several reasons, and you can mash a whole roll down flat, vacuum pack it, and barely notice the weight of in your pack. I also carry a wad of it in a Ziploc bag in my back pocket as part of my "On The Man" EDC, hey, you never know when those public bathrooms will be lacking. As far as those wet wipes go, I do keep a pack of the unscented ones in my vehicle with a bunch of rubbing alcohol poured in to clean and sanitize my hands but I would caution against using them for bathroom duty (dooty?).
When you're on a jump and you slap your buddies' 4th point of contact on "sound off for equipment check" too hard...and they look back and just kind of smile. Yep. Unless it's thursday.

This vid subscribed me. Old Corp here, we had the 782 gear. I carried nine extra mags on all my missions. Baby wipes yes. When I was in Norway, I had to convert my skivies into toilet paper. One more thing, we don’t drink the blood of our enemies, we use it to water the lawn. Semper Fi

+Garand Thumb This is going to be kind of a weird post. I'm a long-distance storm-chaser/meteorologist. A lot of the advice you give here applies to my situation, operating in the US Great Plains. I'm a soft-belly civilian based in CO, but drive to "hot spots" where I might photograph tornadoes and severe weather. I am usually alone on my excursions, and just never know what trouble I might encounter. So, weaponry, medical and nav gear is paramount. I usually end up in disaster areas, where supplies may be limited, hence, food and water. Great advice here, and I enjoy your wit, humor and clear explanations. Thank you for the expert tips. (Oh, if you use baby wipes on your butthole, I recommend applying skin lotion afterward to avoid irritation from the antibacterial cleaner. Yes, I have experience with this LOL.)
Thanks! I appreciate the 15% discount, and the intro to the best packs I've seen, without going military issue. Got one for my wife and the larger one for myself.
"3 to 10 to 50 times more effective" "or if you guys have a girlfriend, which you guys dont..." Best quotes from the whole video lol Bahahaha your a savage @Garand Thumb
I love your content so much because you always clarify that there is more than one way to skin a deer. My LRRP 3 day bag kit is set up completely different from something that would be used in more Urban or clandestine environments (those are mainly used when I am at CAGTF/MOUNT). You would think that is obvious, but from what I have encountered from different training exercises, people do alot of dumb shit.
What kind of crap kit is that?! Way too much junk bro. Here's what I do: Grab a box of pop tarts, a couple of sunny d's from the fridge (this is important; you do not want to bring warm sunny d, trust me), throw that in a pillowcase, kiss mom on the cheek on my way out the door, jump on my schwinn and haul ass. It's never let me down.
Really like your channel. I have different stuff (and some of the same) as you in my assault/bug bag (I generally use the Mil Tec level 3 Assault Pack ( which promptly broke, so my 72 hour bag is a Russian 35 Liter RM-3, and have a MARPAT large pack with the assault pack) . In the assault pack, I keep a small can of WD 40 in mine, as well as 550 paracord, those whole body wash towel packs you get in the hospital, gun cleaning and maintenance kits for all common calibers, more ammo, aqua seal and seam grip, a roll of duct tape, CR 123 and AA/AAA batteries, and, since I suffer from chronic pain and panic disorder, I keep a pretty large amount of my pills = Roxicodone 15mg tablets and Xanax 2mg tablets [both legally prescribed to me every month for legitimate needs, I keep a few in reserve every month for emergencies and they do not impair me in any way], a folding camp saw, solar shower, emergency blanket, magnesium fire starters, extra pins, springs, etc... for my weapons, T.D.I. Master Key [ a fairly compact pry bar, hatchet blade, hammer, glass breaker, and more in an easy to pack tool], 2 or more compression sacks, redundant for most everything, and more. I realize this sounds like a lot, but, packed right, it's very manageable. I also save weight on food by supplementing MREs with packs of powdered milk, sugar, and hot chocolate powder (I heard about this being used by the S.A.S. A guy said his team lived for days on powdered milk and sugar in the Falklands). Useful info = Quick clot is easily and more cheaply replicated with Quick Stop (or Kwick, it's been a while), it's the same thing (a stiptic powder). We used this when I was a veterinary technician and it's cheaper on any veterinary supply website/catalog. My IFAK is also customized for my personal needs. I also have a question. How much ammo would you carry in a societal collapse/'WROL/ situation if you're a civilian with no military backup/resupply, and you have to bug out with who knows what you'll run into or when you may find supplies? I'm aware many people say carrying a bunch of ammo slows you down, but even with my primary weapons being an AKM variant and high quality, high capacity .45 ACP, the ammo/mags don't weigh that much, especially in that kind of situation where adrenaline is pumping and it's do or die. In such a situation, you can pretty much expect some pretty heavy firefights, even avoiding people and using the best camo and E&E in the world.
@@heyythatsprettygood8763 Thanks bro, appreciate it ! :) My main points are that there's no such thing as too much ammo when you're in that scenario and the fact that what you bug out with is all you got until you resupply yourself ( and resupply is up to you being willing and able to do whatever needs to be done after you have used your skills of deductive reasoning and running intel/recon to find where you want to hit that has what you want, how it's guarded, how to best get what you want, fight and win, etc... ). What kinds of rucks do you personally use as your "72 hour" ( read as "plan on 3 days and pack for 5 ) ruck and what's your large "INCH" bag? What weapons would you take? I always stick with military rucks and shouldn't have deviated just because of a good deal I happened upon. Now it's back to just military for things like rucks, most pouches, chest rigs/tac vests, etc...
I have owned a 35 liter Camelbak Commander camo hunting pack for 6 years. I added an aluminum internal frame and REI Ridgeline padded hip belt, two side pockets plus bottom straps for sleeping pad attachment. It has seen a LOT of 30 lb. training hikes and shows no signs of wearing out. Amazing quality. I've even ski camped with it in Nevada. Oh, yeah, "maniac", I carry personal meds like Immodium in my 1st aid kit. The Shanghai Shits are murder!
Great advice about backpacks and how to run them with these videos. I appreciate it, thanks. How would you pack a civilian EDC self-defense backpack? One meant to not look militarized (camo colors, mollee straps, etc.), but still be an effective tool (bullet proof plate to use as a shield, 1st aid kit, etc.), the kind people who go for the "grey man" approach would use when they want to be prepared, but look like every other sheeple walking around. That should cover the civilian scale of this topic The only other question I can imagine is covering how to pack a ruck you're going to do a HALO jump with, or make a covert SCUBA infiltration like the commercials they always show on TV, etc. That should cover the military scale on this topic. All the videos you shared seem to focus on ground based movement An entire video on hydration systems and or armor plates in backpacks would also be cool
I’m a veteran, but the Navy didn’t teach us about such things. If there is a time we need to rough it, this is useful info. When you’re avoiding contact of large numbers of invaders, knowing how to break the surface in water burning with fuel oil, isn’t all that helpful. I appreciate your taking the time to show us these things.

(Pathetic, retired 5 years now and still packed for the field) I enjoy your videos and look forward to them, Keep them coming, not cumming.
lol, appreciate the support.
Garand Thumb, maybe just a lil' bit cummin'? 🤔😖💧

My A.L.I.C.E.
Can you do a 7 day pack? My mom is going on vacation to Puerto Vallarta.
Klobbson good lookin out, brother!!!! 👍🏻
Klobbson thanks for the comments doc!

I don't relate to the "If you've ever" at the beginning but I do have something similar.

7 years now and I still have my Cannae bag and its still going strong. Love this thing
I need a compilation of the start ''subcribe if you'' things, they make me laugh a fucking lot
What goes into a day pack? Easy...poncho liner, Thor batteries and snacks.
@@millerj.8448 🤣😂🤣That was bloody funny mate.😂

Bring underwear dude, dont be gross
Personally, I've found that in extremely cold temperatures, the air contracts and actually deflates the air mattress, now I use a foam one instead.

I know people consider all that a long comment but I honestly think it’s my favorite comment here
@@heyythatsprettygood8763 Thanks bro, appreciate it !

The amount of subtle jokes and shade thrown in this video is worth almost as much as the gear Talk
That should cover the civilian scale of this topic
The only other question I can imagine is covering how to pack a ruck you're going to do a HALO jump with, or make a covert SCUBA infiltration like the commercials they always show on TV, etc. That should cover the military scale on this topic. All the videos you shared seem to focus on ground based movement
An entire video on hydration systems and or armor plates in backpacks would also be cool
I’m a veteran, but the Navy didn’t teach us about such things. If there is a time we need to rough it, this is useful info.
