Good video. I'm a propane guy (new to the industry). I've done dozens of conversions on many appliances, but not a dryer. Excellent tutorial to give me an idea of what I'm going t have to face for a new job. I can work on the fly, but a visual idea has always been a better guide for me. Thanks!

I remove the front drum baffle to have full access to the burner instead of having to reach through that little opening. Remove 4 screws on the baffle and 2-3 on the lint screen housing and pull up and off. It takes a minute to have more remove to work without the need for those small ratchets. Plus, you don’t want to damage the delicate ignitor. Even the oils from your hand can damage it.

Did it 4 months ago with a brand new LG DLGX8101, burner is on same place disassembly is different though, more connectors to detach. Just follow common sense or take pics to put all back in place when you're done. Hardest/tricky part is to reattach the burner. Been using it every weekend, 2 to 3 cycles for the last 4 mo with a 17lb cylinder and still hasn't ran out of gas. To this date I still haven't met someone that has done this mod to their gas dryer even though there is no natural gas where I live in Puerto Rico seems as everyone uses their gas appliances without any mod, not even appliance salesmen are informed about this detail. No wonder ppl run out of gas so quickly. Thanks for this great video!

Hey I really want to thank you, got a great deal on a almost new washer dryer, got it home when seller texts “oh yeah that dryer is set for LP” and I’m thinking by the time I pay a guy to convert it, I would have been better off buying new. But thanks to you I picked up the part for $35 bucks and got it done myself.

Thanks worked like a charm for me! I was able to follow and replace with LP orifice with a LNG one. Thanks for showing the instruction page that was helpful. I just did it without removing the burner. I couldn't find a screwdriver that was working for me. Getting it off was super easy. To get it back on I took a few test runs catching the thread with various results. Than I gooed it up and got it first try. I can work like that from a lot of practice, but it was mostly luck. You have to find away to get both hands on it and even then you will probably drop it unless you get lucky like me. Also it's awful on the hands I did some bleeding. Thanks, perfect video, you made the job easy.

This was a really well done video, thank you. At least on some of the LG models, the igniter is VERY delicate and easy to break in the process of swapping these parts for propane use. Please add a warning about what to look for and how to avoid even touching the igniter - they're not cheap and they're a bigger pain to replace. Don't ask me how I know!

    • @stevesullivan9752

Agree. A simple access panel is all that's needed... then again, that would cost the company an extra five cents to install right? Lol. Either that or allow the consumer to buy a dryer already set up for lp.

You're correct the respective gasses are used at different pressures. Natural Gas, once the pressure is reduced, comes into your house at ~2 psig which is different than that produced by many/most LP regulators. However LP regulators often have variable pressure settings that would allow you to match the 2 psig setting Nat. Gas comes in at. Even if you were to match LP gas' pressure with the variable pressure set up, IT STILL WILL NOT FUNCTION CORRECTLY. Why??? Propane is a 3 carbon gas molecule where Natural Gas is a combination of gases with an average carbon gas length considerably shorter than that. The result are different oxygen requirements for complete combustion for each of the 2 gasses. Translation: You need the different injector orifice found on the 'jet' the conversion kit provides.
Remember your High School Chemistry? Balance the equations for the combustion of both Propane (a three carbon chain) and Ethane (a two carbon chain). You'll see a significantly different oxygen requirement between the two.
Great vid none the less.... I've got a LG 'Tromm' dryer and your instructions worked like a charm. THANK YOU!

There's only one suggestion, and request, for others that were in MY situation...how to convert the regulator BACK to natural gas! The instruction page only shows a picture but does not tell one HOW much to turn the white screw to fully open! I was fearful of unscrewing it all the way so much so that the screw would fly out with the spring! Turns out that it WILL stop when fully open. After that, it's simply a matter of snugging down the jam nut.
