He might’ve had a raspy rock and roll voice but that boy could get the melody out of every song perfectly.

On this day in 1969 {November 20th} Joe Cocker was guest on the Philadephia-based syndicated television program 'The Mike Douglas Show'...
Ten days later on November 30th his covered version of "She Came In Through The Bathroom Window" entered Billboard's Top 100 chart at position #94, nine weeks later it would peak at #30 {for 2 weeks} and it spent twelve weeks on the Top 100...
On the day Joe Cocker's covered version enter the Top 100, the Beatles album, 'Abbey Road', was in its 6th week at being #1 on Billboard's Top 200 Album chart...
Between 1968 and 1990 he had twenty-one Top 100 records; four* made the Top 10 with one reaching #1, "Up Where We Belong", a duet with Jennifer Warnes, for 3 weeks on October 31st, 1982...
Joe Cocker, born John Robert Cocker, passed away at the age of 70 on December 22nd, 2014...
    May he R.I.P.
    * He just missed having five Top 10 records when "Cry Me A River" peaked at #11 {for 2 weeks} in 1970...

What a great voice, raspy , sexy that Joe Cocker had, and with fantastic music . Loved him then , loved him all through his long career . He was my idol, and it was a sad day when I found out he pass on. But Mr Cocker left us the choice of listening to all his beautiful songs . What pleasure to have dream that some day I would see Joe Cocker performed but I never did , and yes John King it would have been great to see his saran wrap drawers in real life!! RIP MY Joe

She came in through the bathroom window
    Protected by a silver spoon
But now she sucks her thumb and wanders
By the banks of her own lagoon
    Didn't anybody tell her?
    Didn't anybody see?
Sunday's on the phone to Monday,
Tuesday's on the phone to me
She said she'd always been a dancer
She worked at 15 clubs a day
And though she thought I knew the answer
Well I knew what I could not say.
And so I quit the police department
And got myself a steady job
And though she tried her best to help me
She could steal but she could not rob
    Didn't anybody tell her?
    Didn't anybody see?
Sunday's on the phone to Monday,
Tuesday's on the phone to me
    Oh yeah...

    • @chillertheater

People thought his movements strange, but he was always perfectly in rhythm. It doesn't happen particularly in this song, but if you watch his other performances from this time you can see him go into a kind of trance and the music takes over his body completely. Fascinating.
