- Joe passes at the age of 70 , Rest in Peace
The Sheffield-born singer had a career lasting more than 40 years, with hits including You Are So Beautiful and Up Where We Belong.
His agent Barrie Marshall said Cocker, who died after battling lung cancer, was "simply unique".
Sir Paul McCartney said he was a lovely guy who "brought so much to the world".
Cocker's friend Rick Wakeman, keyboard player for the rock band Yes, called his rendition of With a Little Help From My Friends "sensational" and said: "He had a voice that was just unique."
Wakeman told BBC Radio 2: "The great thing is with someone like Joe is what they leave behind, and that will be with us for years and years
Here he is one of the most memorable songs 1969 Woodstock, With a Little Help from My Friends
If you are reading this you are a freaking legend.
I am a legend. Ta!
Fact Check: True.
Oh this music is awesome from the vocal to the voice i love it so much, so pretty, Are you a lover of good music like i do.?
Sup fellow legends?
Thank you.
As a black guy who grew up with Motown and 1970’s reggae... this was the song that had me fall in love with white Blues Rock music. The intro is a creation of genius!! And Joe Cocker’s talented voice, passion and performance is magical. Music is the gift that unites the world more than anything else. I love it. 💖🎼🎸🥁🎼 RIP Joe. 😢🙏🏾
I hear you on this song and Joe, but, I thought the blues came from blacks. Am I wrong? I adore Robert Johnson and he was no albino. BTW, this old white chick was listening to Motown all day long.
dont matter what colour you are mate ,, great music is great music,, Conan ,England UK
Nice 👍
I'm so thrilled hear you say that. We all have these few artists , he is one my female favorite Janis Jopolin, give a listen
Many black singers and musicians until they saw a pic of Joe, they too thought he was black, so distinctive is his voice. Proud to say he was from my home city that being Sheffield.
The right man, in the right place, at the right time with the right song and the right performance. Happens only once in a lifetime.
I envy this generation. I was born in the late 80s and now raise kids In this woke-broken and lost world. I would give anything to have been able to experience life in the 60s and 70s. That was living!! The best time for music, cars and technology..then it got out of control and everyone now is all about a fake internet life that doesn't even exist and man is now woman and woman is man and they,he,she.. Fucking scary and yet somehow gets respect. Pray hard end times are near.

Wow…
What a memory! That must have been awesome. I love this song, I love the great joe
still one of the best live performances in history, just pure passion
He couldn't even bother to get Jimmy Page, who plays guitar on the record. If he wanted to make a true impact, he would have persuaded Page to pause Led Zeppelin's tour schedule and play with him here. Instead, he cut corners and this is the result.
Right next to Fleetwood Mac live 1977 Rhiannon, song about an old Welsh witch
Do you really think Page would have even been noticed? No one would have cared less with this performance by Joe going on. Now if you're talking who should have showed up, that would have to be Stevie Ray Vaughn. Rip to botj these once in a lifetime performers!
@@jeaniechampagne8831 Yes, he was probably busy with Led Zep anyway.
Buen tema 👍
The greatest performance by a singer of all time..nothing more to say .
ABSOLUTELY
Clearly, you've never heard of Steve Perry, Luciano Pavarotti, Boston's Brad Delp, Floor Jensen's Ghost Love Score. Are you really that enthralled by a drugged-out screamer?

And You are so beautiful! for sure
So true!!
In the 70's when I first heard this version I thought: I don't think I've ever heard a better version than the original. After more than 50 years, I say that I have not heard one that surpasses it. May the Beatles forgive me.
Listening to this legend in 2024!
If there was ever a chance to go back in Time.......this era would be it !!!! RIP Joe 🕊
I sure wish I could go back in the days of my youth and do it all over again - 72

Agreed
U r 100% correct w that assessment
if only he had some decent back up singers
One of the greatest artists of all time

Joe belongs in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!!!!
Joe entered a different world that day. He was connected to earth physically, but spiritually he was elsewhere. The music completely overtook him and he could barely control himself. You don’t see this raw passion and love for music, where the performance becomes spiritual, from todays cookie cut artists by big corporations whose only goals are to get played on the radio and make money.
Music today, for the most part, seriously lacks soul, love and care. Three things Joe ensured his music had. We miss you, brother, hope the next life is treating you well. Forever missed in your previous one.

Took my girlfriend to see him over fifty years ago at Taunton tech Somerset UK. We have been married over fifty years the time has stood still.
Just the most amazing performance in rock and roll history! Makes me cry every time
The last air guitar part after he's done singing is just out of this world. He's giving his all, putting every last drop into it, just like the fans want performers to do. I've been watching this video for probably 10 years. I'll go away from it for a year sometimes, but when I come back, I just appreciate it more. This is rock n' roll. It's the black and white, teen angst, message, love, etc . . .all rolled into one.
Oh this music is awesome from the vocal to the voice i love it so much, so pretty, Are you a lover of good music like i do.?
He held nothing back he poured his soul out .
Joe Cocker was one of the greatest artists in our Era. I have, and always will be in complete awe of him. I had the privilege of seeing him perform live twice. I was completely engrossed in his performance. He is a spectacular talent. He had great passion for performing. He owned his stage!!! What a voice. I was just devastated when he passed. Joe Cocker, thank you for all the great years. You will be remembered forever. I wish I could have been at Woodstock.
Ich habe ihn 3mal live erlebt wunderbar werde ihn nie vergessen danke joe
I saw him twice too. Once much to my surprise was a small club in the city where I lived. We carried on for an encore for 20 minutes. He never came back. I am sure playing that little suburban club was a let down for him at that time. It was such an opportunity for us to see him in a small intimate setting.
The best rendition ever. No one could ever say Joe didn't put his soul into every song.
Because of this, Joe Cocker will never die.

When I first saw Joe Cocker early in his career, I thought to myself what a maniac to sing and act like that. Little did I realize the influence he had on me for life. When one sings to and from the soul as Joe did, it didn't matter what you looked like if you could sing and Boy! this man could sing.
When I sing, I sing from my soul to other souls out there. And I do it as I please. Thank you, Joe for all that you gave. 😊❤

I will never forget when John Belushi. was doing a skit and Joe came on stage it was awesome!!
This version should be on Spotify! What a shame it isn't.
This performance alone should have gotten him into the music "Hall of Fame". Its sickening that he's not. This is one performer & one voice that should in there
And why the so called Rock & Roll Hall of Fame" is a scham as is any hall of fame ect, which determines artistic merit or value based on any means that does not solicit or consider the opinion of the fan base population.
In my humble opinion, to exclude the likes of Cocker from any such public recognition is to re-write history, into a tale of fiction that is severely lacking so many incredibly talented artists and musicians throughout music history that I cannot imagine placing any value whatsoever to its existence.
What select small group of "judges" should consider themselves worthy of dictating the historical worth of one legendary artist over another?
If you have an appreciation of music then that should account for a vote and if your opinion were considered then that would at least give some validity to the inductees, otherwise I call BS.
Cheers!
