He told later that they were on an LSD trip during the show.. He does not even sing real words half the time but it doesn't matter , this performance ROCKS !!!!!
I think half of the people who were there were tripping on acid. Fans and performers. Carlos Santana had that famous quote saying " the guitar`s neck " was moving like a snake and I was trying to keep it still" " that is why you see me making those faces with my eyes closed". But they still played a great set, one of the best of all that played there. Joe is possessed with the music they are playing imo. Legendary performance there.
Woodstock died December 2014, 45 years of joe cocker man we where lucky to be alive to see this man all the best joe wherever you are will be a good place to be love and respect !
I don’t think I have ever felt the commitment by any other singer like Joe. Much as I love “With A Little Help”, this song from 1968 has all the qualities and exuberance of that time (in my life I would be 13 when life was alive made possible by people like Joe Cocker. Who else cold deliver that gravelly voice?
Joe Cocker puts himself in the music he sings. He sings so loud and great, his tongue shows itself. He gets so lost in it, he becomes the instrument itself. He is a LEGEND
Found this a couple of weeks ago and watched it at least once every day since. Everything about it is perfect: the song takes him over when he sings it, the bass line, the guitar solo, the way he plays along. One of the greatest performances I’ve ever seen and the album recording doesn’t even do it justice. RIP Joe Cocker
RIP Joe, I'm absolutely devastated You partied with us - At so many gatherings, Road trips and helped us get through the cleaning of our house. My collection is large - like your voice - it will give me many more years with you
here's the lyrics i got from this amazing performance: somethin's comin' on, don’t know what it is but its gettin' stronger everywhere i go things are takin me a lil bit longer feel it in my head somethings coming on just like a rainstorm doing things to me yehh turnin’ on the things that never been turned on then she came in like she’d been gamin' ohh everybody else i asked her proudly she answered kinda loudly spent her life on the shelf somethings coming on never had a thing I'm just gon' find it somethings telling me everywhere i go I’m all around it feel it in my head somethings coming on just like a rainstorm doing things to me turning over things that never been turn on then she came in looking like she’d been gamin' everybody else I asked proudly she answered kinda loudly spent her life up on the shelf I’m gonna take this before, i get the chance to waste it somethings coming on never had a thing i just can’t waste it everywhere i go people telling me I’m gonna taste it even if i love ahh happens to the head that same old feelin feel it in my soul takin me to fall right through that ceiling then she came in looking like she’d been gamin' and everybody else I asked proudly she answered kinda loudly spent her life on the shelf gotta set it down boy get it down my soul now
If you didn't know who Joe Cocker was and heard the guy talking before the performance you would not expect such a great voice to come from that guy. Love this!!
The guy is indestructible! He is still touring and making music 43 years later! The same cannot be said for many of his peers of that generation. Then guy should be in the RRHOF. He is the real deal. Hit records in the 60's, 70's, 80's 90's and 2000's. Too bad the HOF people do not recognize his contribution, as one of the iconic classic rock voices of them all.
This playing was sensational, i reckon he played just about every note on the fret board.. So many talents gone & we are left with whatever it is we call musicians of these times lol..
Something's comin' on Don't know what it is, but it's gettin' stronger Feel it in my bones Hope you let it last a little bit longer Breakin' my head Doin' things I've never even dreamed of Goin' down the spine Turnin' on the things that'd never been turned on Suddenly she came in Lookin' just like she'd been gamin' Doin' things with everybody else And when I yelled out loudly She answered kind of proudly That she had spent her life upon a shelf Something's comin' on now Now I understand it's gettin' better Feel it in my bones Whatever happens now, it just don't matter Breakin' out my head Doin' things I've never even dreamed of Goin' down my spine Turnin' on the things that'd never been turned on Suddenly she came in Lookin' just like she'd been gamin' Doin' things with everybody else And when I yelled out loudly She answered kind of proudly She'd spent her life upon a shelf Talk about the woman Let's go home baby, let's go now Woman If you will answer me...
Joe Cocker And The Mighty Grease Band at the peak of their powers. Mad Dogs And Englishmen broke this band up and I always wished Joe had never done that tour. It almost killed him, and his voice never recovered. Cocker Power.
I was only 2 years old but I think I could feel the energy coming down the NY freeway down the NJTP to a little house in South Jersey because years later I was rocking out and haven't stopped since!🤘☝️
jesus the view of all those people.. really gives you some scale of how massive this was.. what a great time to be alive.. wish i could have been there... but i wouldnt be born 21 years..
Possibly the greatest air-guitar performance of all time.
That's cause he's the best air guitarist of his time
It's difficult to believe that Joe Cocker is only 25 years of age here.
I can't believe he way young at one point, being born in the 80s
It's not difficult for me to believe it.
And 21 yo Alan Spenner showing some great bass chops
Legend !!
😮
This performance portrays what Joe Cocker was all about!
Funky rock. Love Joe.
You gotta love the passion he brings to a song. He put his heart and soul into it...100%
Same with his players! Total commitment. Check out the wildly dangling broken guitar string at 2:42.
Joe Cocker in his prime.
irreplaceable and one of a kind he was.
What a talent.
He told later that they were on an LSD trip during the show.. He does not even sing real words half the time but it doesn't matter , this performance ROCKS !!!!!
Not Joe, but everybody else.
I think half of the people who were there were tripping on acid. Fans and performers. Crazy he was only 25 here.
Alan Spenner bass player...he rocked it
Alan Spenner - my all-time favorite bass player. And what a great band.
yesss
Only two out of six still with us. Bruce, Alan, Henry and Joe - God rest their talented souls.
talented,that's the word!
I could watch that guy sing all day. He was such a beautiful person.
He looks exhausted even before he starts his first song! RIP Joe Cocker...this was him at his best.
Not the first song, first song was Dear landlord.
Woodstock died December 2014, 45 years of joe cocker man we where lucky to be alive to see this man all the best joe wherever you are will be a good place to be love and respect !
Not even Joe knew what the hell he was singing! "Somesih gohee ou-nah, doh-duh whathee eh but ee guess songer"! Long live Joe!
@Big Bill O'Reilly jealous
I don't know what it is but it's getting stronger , no ?
Best comment so far !
😂
Joe you were the best! his voice will be remembered for eternity! RIP the king
Joe Cocker the father of AIR GUITAR
He played all musical instruments while singing and dancing , beautiful Joe !
Joe is a legend, he was at the peak of his career in this performance.
I don’t think I have ever felt the commitment by any other singer like Joe. Joe hombre hermoso discreto y genial ❤❤❤
Joe Cocker puts himself in the music he sings. He sings so loud and great, his tongue shows itself. He gets so lost in it, he becomes the instrument itself. He is a LEGEND
those who was at Woodstock confidently can say: "we were in Paradise and Gods were there"
MrLester1985 ❤ 1ooo x oui ! ❤
I would fucking love to hear all of your stories
Il più bel periodo del rock.. Tutti i grandi insieme.!!
R.I.P. Joe Cocker...
absolute groove. The great Joe Cocker, one of a kind. RIP
RIP Joe! We will miss you!
Great bass !!!!!!!! The guitar clean and compact solos also. Where are all these
musicians instead of nowadays garbage heavy fuzz tones???????
Found this a couple of weeks ago and watched it at least once every day since. Everything about it is perfect: the song takes him over when he sings it, the bass line, the guitar solo, the way he plays along. One of the greatest performances I’ve ever seen and the album recording doesn’t even do it justice. RIP Joe Cocker
Joe and his imaginated guitar. When I look at him I realize he still moves same way now 40 years later (just little bit slower) and I still love it
Amazing work on the Bass !
Most unassuming rock god ever.
Ooooh.... that bass!
R.I.P.
i've watched 'Woodstock' a million times but this is my first time to see this classic gem!
I remember woodstock, as a 12 year old, great we can see it over and over now...
Katrina Hall either a liar or had horrible parents
Hello Katrina how are you doing hopefully all is well with you and your family??
One of my all time favourites 👌
a Blood,Sweat & Tears song!their first albums were great too!
Fantastic and what a bass line by Spenner!
The best voice, the best singer, the best performer
RIP Joe, I'm absolutely devastated
You partied with us - At so many gatherings, Road trips and helped us get through the cleaning of our house.
My collection is large - like your voice - it will give me many more years with you
Grande Joe Coker, lo sigo desde mi juventud y me ire de aqui oyendo su Musica!
Will be missed but not forgotten,,, R.I.P. Joe
I was there!
Joe's such a neat artist. His live performances are fantastic!
sick bass line, guitar solo and melody of the voice!! well done!!
here's the lyrics i got from this amazing performance:
somethin's comin' on,
don’t know what it is but its gettin' stronger
everywhere i go
things are takin me a lil bit longer
feel it in my head
somethings coming on just like a rainstorm
doing things to me yehh
turnin’ on the things that never been turned on
then she came in
like she’d been gamin'
ohh everybody else
i asked her proudly
she answered kinda loudly
spent her life on the shelf
somethings coming on
never had a thing I'm just gon' find it
somethings telling me
everywhere i go I’m all around it
feel it in my head
somethings coming on just like a rainstorm
doing things to me
turning over things that never been turn on
then she came in
looking like she’d been gamin'
everybody else
I asked proudly
she answered kinda loudly
spent her life up on the shelf
I’m gonna take this
before, i get the chance to waste it
somethings coming on
never had a thing i just can’t waste it
everywhere i go
people telling me I’m gonna taste it
even if i love ahh
happens to the head that same old feelin
feel it in my soul
takin me to fall right through that ceiling
then she came in
looking like she’d been gamin'
and everybody else
I asked proudly
she answered kinda loudly
spent her life on the shelf
gotta set it down boy
get it down my soul now
Imagine how sweet this must've sounded at Woodstock with a good head buzz.
You know you have done a good job when you can get the people at Woodstock to stop and watch. No one better than the Great JOE COCKER.
Hello Rose how are you doing hopefully all is well with you and your family))
??
Great bassman !!
Almost frightening how good this camera work was. I feel like I'm right there on stage. Crazy man. Everyone is so young!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
RIP Alan Spenner. Possibly the greatest bassist ever. Funk and blues grooves like no other.
Yes he was a great musician as also Chris Stainton and Henry McCollough( humble opinion)
I think his was one of the great blues/rock voices. Wish I had got to see him in concert.
R.I.P joe :(( we´ll always love you

They are so great ....such energy and blues. Long live Joe and the band
I remember walking back to my tent past the stage when Joe was playing With A Little Help From My Friends. The major storm arrived shortly after.
Classic forever ! You Rock JC 🎤🎧🎼❤️
what a voice JOE had ..Jesus ... come back to resurrect all the dead with your GOD's POWER ... JEHOVAH ALMIGHTY
The late great Alan Spenner on the bass guitar. Seriously getting on it.
Shame the cameraman didn't spend much time filming him close.
@@AndreiSilvester That was indeed the worst thing about the whole concert film. The camera waork was fkin diabolical.
Great call, Dan. Superb band, too.
awesome guy. you can fall in love with that voice.
Joe, che la terra ri sia lieve R.I.P.!!
This song is so amazing!
Rest in peace joe,Legend
Woodstock 46 Anos!!!Cadê a máquina do Tempo pra eu chegar lá???

Fantástico... artista fenomenal..

Alan Spenner on Bass! (R.I.P.)
Something's comin' on
Don't know what it is, but it's gettin' stronger
Feel it in my bones
Hope you let it last a little bit longer
Breakin' my head
Doin' things I've never even dreamed of
Goin' down the spine
Turnin' on the things that'd never been turned on
Suddenly she came in
Lookin' just like she'd been gamin'
Doin' things with everybody else
And when I yelled out loudly
She answered kind of proudly
That she had spent her life upon a shelf
Something's comin' on now
Now I understand it's gettin' better
Feel it in my bones
Whatever happens now, it just don't matter
Breakin' out my head
Doin' things I've never even dreamed of
Goin' down my spine
Turnin' on the things that'd never been turned on
Suddenly she came in
Lookin' just like she'd been gamin'
Doin' things with everybody else
And when I yelled out loudly
She answered kind of proudly
She'd spent her life upon a shelf
Talk about the woman
Let's go home baby, let's go now
Woman
If you will answer me...

Ciao GRANDE JOE!
Awesome! Thanks!
Wow. Great to see all of JC set.
I saw Woodstock in 1971 but it was a bit of everything.
Great to see the bits that were never shown.
Sounds fantastic 😮
rip rip Joe, you have been the very best
Damn! Those who were lucky enough to witness this were hella blessed!
The unique talent of a singer like no other. Stunning.
Love Henry MacCollough's playing. He is said to have been the only Irishman to have played at Woodstock.
The quality of this video is amazing. I am wordless.
jesus the view of all those people.. really gives you some scale of how massive this was.. what a great time to be alive.. wish i could have been there... but i wouldnt be born 21 years..
Just priceless. Thanks for posting!
i was five in ravni topolovac, but somehow heard this
mi vengono sempre i brividi. Che generazione, la mia!
NO such thing as a epic rock song without an organ.
