    So, there are five people in the comments, including me, having problems to get the green line to show up.
    What worked for me: Put the "Touch" to "Latch" and record the Spin Down manually, by opening the plugin and pressing the Spin Down Button at the right time. You can then adjust the green line, because it finally showed up.
    This took me some time to google and find out a solution.

      I've just looked at this again and discovered the process I outlined in the tutorial no longer works.
      It looks like Resolve no longer allows you to "draw" automation envelopes for two-state (i.e. on/off) parameters. I've confirmed this with a Waves plugin as well.
      What you CAN to do work around this limitation is the following (while in the Fairlight tab):
      1. Ensure you're in automation Write mode (i.e. top button bar).
      2. Play your audio.
      3. While playing, click Spin Down close to where you'd like the effect to kick in.
      4. While playing, click Spin Down a second time to turn the effect off.
      5. Stop playback.
      At this point, Resolve should have drawn a green automation line for you with distinct points at locations where / when you clicked the Spin Down button during playback. Next...
      6. Click the "Select Range" icon and drag your cursor across the automation points you want to move (if any).
      7. Fine tune the automation points until you're satisfied.
      It's a round-about method of getting what you need but I can confirm it works.
      Let me know if you have questions.

But if you're open to spending a few bucks, a company called CableGuys makes a plugin called TimeShaper that does all kinds of crazy time manipulations including spin-up, spin-down, record scratches, stutters, etc. (From the same guys, see ShaperBox for an entire suite of processing tools.) Best of luck.

      Same here. I started the project new, then it worked again. But if I delete the effect, the effect is not gonna be deleted on the track. I find out, that it is changing the speed "directly" (I don't know how to describe it). You have to right klick on your audio track and then go to "change clip speed" manually and set the speed to 100% again.

    Amazing! Thank you. EDIT: The VFX now is listed under the Distortion tab in Fairlight FX for some reason.
    Man I followed these controls for an hour until finally figuring out that the section which said "enabled" needed to have the plugins box highlighted red in order to record.

    Thanks for an excellent tutorial!
    I'm trying to use Vinyl on a Mac running DR Studio v.17.2, but something is not working as expected.
    I'm following the tutorial but often don't even get the Automation Envelope (green line) to appear
    The line shows randomly, and I never know why it suddenly appears, and then disappears again.
    So, when I'm lucky (having a green line), I manage to set everything up correctly, and the "spin down" works great, yay!
    But just some editing later, or trying to render the whole project, it stops working and the complete track is either muted or full volume, no green line, no spin down, not good.
    Is it DR or Vinyl that malfunctions?
    Any idea?

      Hey, there. Welcome to the channel.
      If you've: a) Installed the plugin using the manufacturer's installer; and b) you've added the plugin installation directory within DaVinci Resolve | Preferences... | Audio Plugins | VST Effects | Add; and c) the plugin isn't listed under "Available Plugins," your problem may be one of two things. Either: a) you didn't install the VST2 version of the plugin (i.e. Resolve Fairlight doesn't yet support VST3); or b) the directory you added using the process above isn't your VST2 installation directory.
      Bottom line is, you'll need to ensure you install the VST2 version AND add its installation directory to Resolve. I hope this helps.

    I've been wondering about this for quite some time! I kept thinking that Audio Keyframes (or something like that) would be at work to make it happen. Turns out I wasn't too far off. I'm curious, though, about applying the reverse effect. Suppose you do a spin down and then you want to spin up the record again at a later point. Different plugin perhaps with a "spin up" button?

    • @DavidPower
      @DavidPower  3 роки тому +1

      Hey, Stephajn. Welcome to the channel.
      Regrettably, the Vinyl plugin doesn't perform 'spin up.' So, you're correct... you'd need a different plugin. One I've been using recently (which does a lot more than spin up/down) is ShaperBox 2 from Cable Guys www.cableguys.com/shaperbox.html. However, it's not free. If it's something you think you'll use frequently, you can save a few bucks buying just the TimeShaper module rather than the entire ShaperBox suite.
      While it requires a time investment, another (manual) option would look like this:
      - make a copy of the audio you want to spin up from
      - reverse it
      - apply Vinyl spin down
      - reverse the clip again (turning the spin down into a spin up)
      - place the new clip appropriately on your timeline
      Hope this helps!

    • @quantessenz
      @quantessenz 3 роки тому

      Just reserve the song where you want to make a spin up. Put a spin down into the reserved song and after that make a compound clip in Davinci and reserve it again to "normal". Just an idea, not tested.

      I'd be incredibly surprised if iZotope made a plugin that simply doesn't install on half the personal computers in the world.

    Thank you David, for another great tutorial! Now, is there a way to get it to spin back up?

    • @DavidPower
      @DavidPower  5 років тому

      Hmmm... As you've probably guessed, this iZotope plugin doesn't do "spin up." If you need to do it quickly, here are the steps I'd follow:
      1. Find the section you want to spin-up to.
      2. On the edit tab, reverse the clip by setting its speed to -100%.
      3. Add the spin down / tape stop effect to the endof the clip.
      4. Render the audio only to a WAV file.
      5. Pull it back into Resolve and change the clip speed to -100% (i.e. to reverse the previous reversing).
      6. Place it where you need it.
      Yes... this is a lot of steps and no where near as fast or simple as having it baked into a plugin. I'll keep my eyes open for other options but the method I've outlined is how I'd do it in a pinch. I hope this helps.
