This is a perfect example of how EVERY Tutorial should be. Thank you for explaining with so much detail (eg the arrows, the circles around where you click), it is a lot more work for you but it makes your videos soo much more professional and easier to understand and follow. 10/10. Have a wonderful day, Sir!
Thank you very much Chris! I love that you value those details ^^ I think that with these aids it is easier for beginners, I also think it's good to add a lot of zooms since a lot of people see it from their phones, all help is good.
Started working in VFX in late 90s and that Magic Mask that we have today is really magical. Without rotoscoping, without keying of green screen and get that quality results, just amazing!
The one thing that always gets me is, in ALL these demos on UA-cam, the magic mask ALWAYS works so perfectly. Look at this! Done in seconds! When in practice, I've NEVER had a magic mask work so perfectly. I've always had to spend hours going frame by frame fixing it because something in the background ALWAYS gets picked. Or part of the body gets lost in some frames. I would love to see an actual video about how to fix your magic mask when it goes wrong, which seems to be the norm, unlike what you see on UA-cam. Don't get me wrong, this is a great video and I truly appreciate it! But, would love to see a 'when things go wrong' type of video to see how it's handled.
Thank you very much Indigo Gaming! It is a joy to read such good words from such a great channel! I have seen that you make very elaborate documentaries about videogames, hopefully the tutorials can help you with something 😀
very very very understanding. What i mostly like with your tutorials is that you do not rush. I already know many things about davinci by other youtubers, but going through your tutorials is a must, just to catch some details i missed from the others. Thank you!!!!!!
Your tutorial style is the very best I have seen... I've been working on my Davinci knowledge for two years and have tried to learn from many creators.... yours is the best.... you are very deliberate and precise in explaining every key stroke and why... fantastic job..
This is the best tutorial I ever have so far. To be a new beginner, your clear explanation allowed me to follow with confidence. Thank you very much for a such valuable tutorial.
After I saw this video, I subscribed to this channel within a second because I felt that this channel would be very helpful for me in the future. Thanks
You earned my respect bro.. just simple and crystal clear informations.. Very well thought and made. I am gonna take your Davinci classes to learn everything I can about this awesome software. Keep up the good work.
I already knew about this but I love that you taught in a way that considered most viewers who would know nothing about Davinci. Because most of people viewing this video would fall in that category.
Dude this is Raaaad! Ive been playing and using DaVinci Resolve now for about a year or two. For some music video project and I can do a lot but I had no clue it it could do this! I just subscribed :-)
I spend so much time working in Resolve that when Sergio's screen was paused to show the mask icon, I instinctively tried to scroll up to view the image hahaha! Thank you for this breakdown. It was concise but VERY thorough, I really appreciate it!
I love these comments that are just thanks, without asking for things or solving doubts, it shows that they are sincere and I appreciate it! Most of them are followed by a question about Davinci xD
@@SergiomotaENG No worries mate. Valuable info, thanks. Just bought studio on the back of your video. Hopefully I can jump my film making up a peg or two now cheers. I'll be back 👍
Davinci is so powerful, I love it! Thank you for this tutorial! Seeing the possibilities like 7:39 just inspires a person to dream of creating special fx you see in shows like Stranger Things.
My friend, who knows absolutely nothing about video editing, just has sent me this asking "is that really THAT simple?". Yes Fred, now I know it is :D Subscribed !
Where were you all these days. I cant believe this youtube Algorithm didnt suggest you until now !!! Man, Great effort and great way of teaching.. Thank you very Mucj for what you are doing !
sorry I forgot to mention, your tutorial and delivery, including many of the gotchas' and quick explanations of various modes is outstanding, I learned everything in no time, thank you.
Thank you very much Schmutz06! I'm glad the video helped you ^^. The problem you mention in the other comment is a common problem, I don't know if they will fix it in the future. As a recommendation, if you have to modify or work with the clip in the timeline, you can export a video with only the mask in the following way: ua-cam.com/video/Ly9U4MahDKQ/v-deo.html
@@SergiomotaENG Thanks. And thanks for the other vid regarding alpha export, that'll work although I hope they will patch this soon. I've been making motion graphics (mostly Adobe AE) for around 17 years, so picking up resolve and having to figure out where the things I want are has been interesting. I've actually struggled to find some more advanced tutorials - ones that go at pace, like this, and throw loads of information at the viewer. I don't need to understand how keyframes and curve editors change the motion, I just want to quickly figure out where everything is lol. Love using Resolve so far, it's immediately made me enjoy editing again. Finally using software that feels modern and uses my computers resources.
Incredible video because of your exploration of magic mask features, options and depth of topic. Your instruction is very clear. i will explore more on your channel and will look to join as you share your expertise.
Wow, i just watched a video about Adobe's Rotobrush 1,2 and 3 side by side comparison and the 3rd was quite ok but this Magic Mask feature in DaVinci Resolve is something else, wow just wow
Great, however, after erase background l move resolution settings to make video runa better in editing and that before background results disappear. Any advise on that ?
@@SergiomotaENG thank you brother. I see l can change my background parameters, however, any change to my main image every step done in magic mask before have been lost. Then any change to main image l should Re track again ?
I just subscribed because: 1) you show us up front the end result we're going for here. That's huge. When skimming through 100's of UA-cam videos, it's exhausting to scrub thru them trying to find out what the h3ll they are actually going to show us. Thanks! (2) You lay out the steps in a manner that really resonates. Logical, nothing missing, great pacing IMO! (3) This video filled in the blanks I was missing re: magic mask! (4) Your production value, especially the audio quality and your voice too, is super! Your inflection, pacing, "framing" ... you sound like a VO artist! I really appreciate that. For, it makes hearing your tutorials a joy. Ooops! Now I see: "Voice-over by alancrookham." Excellent decision!! That dude knocks it out of the park, as we say in the US. For me, I really need a tutor's voice (and the audio quality overall) to be solid and absent of any glaring issues or I just can't listen. If I find a good tutorial video, like this one, I'll probably hear that voice for 45 minutes, an hour, maybe more as I go over your steps again and again and again, working in the muscle memory etc. Excellent production quality! thankyouthankyouthankyou!!!!! I would love to see a deep dive into all of the settings with in the Quality box. Maybe you would be interested in doing that some day? In the mean time, this video is more than enough to get me past an issue I was having in a little experimental project I'm doing.
(palm slaps head) I finally realized that you actually did hire and English speaking VO artist! kudos!! This person is by far my best choice. He is so good at what he does. It just makes learning difficult concepts much easier if you choose a VO artist like the one in this video!
haha thank you very much Kelala Music! I also consume tutorials and I know that many creators would make this same video, 20 minutes explaining exactly the same things. 😅 I think the difference is that I do a script of the voice-over, and I do the recording of the tutorial separately. (Which takes a lot more work) Most creators are talking while recording the tutorial.
I just discovered your channel and this was an awesome explanation. I recently purchased Studio so have been playing with the Magic Mask with both some success and frustration and this was a great explanation. Subscribed and thank you - I look forward to checking out your other videos.
Thanks for the tutorial, and there's some good information here. One suggestion is to have someone proofread your scripts before you have them recorded by a narrator. Especially if the narrator you hire isn't going to correct even the most obvious errors, which seems to have been the case with this narrator. A lot of narrators offer proofreading and correction for a small additional fee, and doing that is definitely worth the money.
this is great!!! is there a way to make just the background smaller. What i mean is having the background still in place but making it smaller, but keeping subject the same original size?
