thank you thank you thank you. This is the gold standard of tutorials. You are not just telling us WHAT you are doing but also WHY. 99% of youtube DVR videos are people zooming through a 1000 clicks and buttons and they almost NEVER explain WHY WHY WHY. It's more important to know WHY we do things than the HOW. Thank you.

I'm not an opera singer, but I'm baritone, as many other people, and the main issue with your recommendation to filter out the low frecuencies below 100 Hz and even higher is that you remove all the rich harmonics of the voice that make it sound unique. I wouldn't advise to take out so lightly those frecuencies, except if you are dealing with a very high-pitched tenor voice (I don't mean an opera singer, because we all are tenors, baritones, sopranos when using our vocal range) or a woman (as it is the case in the video, by the way). The narrator's voice is a tenor's as well... 😉

This was really great. If you get a chance perhaps you could do a video with different audio footage showing how you treated each since as we you said the values are not always the same. People generally learn from examples.

With all these analogies between sound and video equivalents of terminology used, and clear explanation of what the terms mean, I finally understand why a particular filter in Photoshop is called a High Pass Filter after all these years! A lot of tutorials can demonstrate how to use a High Pass Filter in Photoshop, but few seem to know what's happening under the hood or even know why it's called that in the first place! Furthermore, you've demystified some of those EQ and Compressor knobs for me even though you didn't go into a lot of detail. Other tutorials often just tell you to press this and tweak that to achieve a result without helping you understand what or why you're doing it. Subscribed 😊

I'd be incredibly surprised if iZotope made a plugin that simply doesn't install on half the personal computers in the world. It's more than likely the case it's been installed to a directory Resolve isn't scanning. Here's a link to a video that might help you sort that out... ua-cam.com/video/L1CtJDq49Hs/v-deo.html Hope this helps.

I find that using the compressor is not as good as using the Soft Clipper. For some reason my loud parts just sound worse when I compress them. The quality drops and it sounds unnatural. Using soft clipper to bring up the lower parts is much simpler and more effective

I watched this quite a while ago and used it when I was doing voice over. Great stuff. This week I was finally editing a how-to recorded in my woodworking workshop. Half remembering what you said, I added a compressor, but didn't filter high and low first. I've also edited out a bunch of awkward pauses. I've also done Normalization once or twice as well. My problem is that the volume is now too loud throughout. Does Fairlight start from the original recording on these adjustments, or is each adjustment cumulative? In other words, have I shot myself in the foot! (I still have the original clips. ) Thanks!
