I was watching other tutorials but they didn't mention duplicating the audio track again in a different timeline. I couldn't get the ring out I wanted until I watched this. Thank you so much!
Beautiful! Thank you so much. If for anyone it doesn't work, make sure your mixer is muted, because sometimes the track on the timeline is muted but if it's not also muted in the mixer it doesn't work.
Nate ..... I've been editing for years and have only just come across this awesome technique! I've often avoided great tunes that just don't end well.... so no more of that nonsense. Now I can end a track almost anywhere. Great job! ps - it works on DA Vinci 19.2 beta!
Bro you saved so many videos of mine with that, big thnaks! I've been watching this video 300 times, because I forget 1 part of the process everytime..
That is an absolutely brilliant technique. I sometimes use an app called Filmstro to create soundtracks for my videos. But, I've always wanted to do exactly what you showed here: Find that right moment to end the music and make it sound natural. Eventually, "endings" were created for Fillmstro tracks. But, the endings were usually 1-1/2 minutes long. Making it difficult to control it without spending a lot of time trying to blend the FULL track with the ENDING track. Your technique is a fantastic way to create endings without spending inordinate amounts of time getting that desired ending. To make a short story a little longer, your technique is BOSS. Huge thanks.
Awesome. Really happy you're able to get some use out of it. I still find myself cutting up songs and fading on the beat to fit the edit, but having tricks like this in the toolbox helps for sure. Thanks for the kind words
Just a quick one today, but super useful if you find yourself in a pinch. Also I only show how to do this effect in the edit page, however you can also do it in fairlight using a similar method. As always more info in the description.
I have been looking for this effect for longtime, thank you man, keep these audio tutorial coming, everyone is just showing transitions and color grading. :)
you could also put the reverb effect on an entire audio track. for example: you have your song on track 1 but only the end of the song on track 2. and then in fairlight you put your reverb effect on the second track. this way you skip this whole nesting sequence workaround. I did that in premiere pro back than all the time and was always wondering if there is an easier method.
wow this video is perfect thank you! never thought i would be able to find such a specific effect tutorial i was looking for but this is exactly what i needed
Thanks for the tip. It will be interesting to see your version of “all about keying and qualifying for secondaries”. Especially where exposures or gradients or mixed temperatures situation is there.
That's great. Black magic actually has a really good course on using fairlight on their website. Totally free and a really good resource to get a better understanding of the software. Hope that helps
to make it sound way better Select plate where it says Defaul* And put the distance as 5 and the brighness as 60 and the modulation as 22 and reverb time 4000 and pre delay to -200 and then change the dry/wet from 51-64! Hope this helps it sounds WAYYY beter!
Amazing! Thanks, Nathan. before now I've been splicing the finale of a song to the point that I want it to end, but that is going to make things so much easier.
sorry if i'm mistaken but you forgot to lower the gain on your reverb cut so you actually you didn't change anything. i don't know this plug but it always work like this: you have to select your freq in high or low and then you boost or lower the gain on the same panel above it. cheers and thanks for the vid
if the ending still feels a bit to abrupt (especially because of spoken lyrics), one thing that worked for me is to slow down the tempo of the very last bit (by ~10%); it makes the song drag out and end more naturally (I did this on audacity, but you could probably do this on davinci as well!)
Okay. You have my attention and subscription. I've just started doing some pro videos and this was cool. I have forwarded your video to my videographer partner who does most of our editing and I know he will like it. I am still getting my head around why you create a new compound clip and new timeline, but I will get there. In the meantime, I am very much looking forward to checking your other videos and others in the future.
Thank you. So I made a compound clip so the reverb tail has space to ring out as I added the reverb via the clip level. You can skip this step by adding reverb to the track within the fairlight page. I'm just not a big fan of dedicating a specific track to one effect. Hope that makes it more clear.
This is such a small but crucial detail to make your audio sound professional, thanks for this mate! 🙌
No worries! It's definitely helped me out over the past few years.
Thank you so much Nathan, your tutorial really helped me :)
(Feels like: Am I becoming a pro with this😎😂)
This tutorial is a gem! Especially as a beginner videographer I very much appreciate this since good audio makes a huge difference.
Glad it was helpful!
