How to make a slip knot
Option 1:
1. Hold your thread in front of your finger, loose end down, wrap it around your finger 2 times. Secure both threads with your thumb and middle finger.
2. Grab the yarn on the left side and bring it over the yarn on the right.
3. Grab the left yarn again and bring it over your finger and down.
Option 2:
1. Wrap yarn around your thumb (4-6" from the end) and pinch the base to create a loop.
2. Grab the short end of the yarn, pinch it in the middle and put it through the loop you created on your thumb.
3. Now grab that loop and pull tight.
Option 3:
1. Take the tail end of your yarn and wrap it around your index and middle fingers.
2. Continue to cross the tail end of your yarn over the top of your fingers once more making the letter X.
3.Turn your fingers around so they are facing you. Place your crochet hook underneath the first loop and hook the second one, then Paul the second loop underneath the first.
4.Pull your middle and index finger out of the X loop and grab the working and tail end of yarn. Tighten to create you crochet slip knot.

Great tutorials. They all 3 make it much easier than other ways. I need it to put glitter strips in my hair. I can do them before I go to got my hair done. Then all I have to do is 2 square knots and the are doe until I put in as many and colors I chose. I cant wait to get my hair done. No tools needed. Your instructions are so easy. Wonder job. You have saved me so much time. I don't have to keep going back to watch videos. Great!!!!!!!!

I understand to begin with, I should get all cotton yarn, but what thickness, please?? And of course use light colors to easily see my stitches better.
Unfortunately there’s not a straight answer for that. It depends on what project you’re doing. I usually just buy yarn like red heart or simply soft.

How do I tell which side of the loop should I insert the hook.
1 and 3 were simple for me, but for some reason I was super struggling with successfully doing 2 correctly multiple times in a row. Doing it right or wrong was very inconsistent for me, and I'm not sure what I was doing differently in those instances.
