It's a nice pre-emptive move. They know that NA reboot will explode with 6th job patch and introduced a new world. The only reason why I think they didn't advertise is to get new players onto the new servers to alleviate the incoming load. It can potentially also reduce the amount of speedrunners in the new world which I think is a nice thing for new players.
I think your logic is a bit backwards. If they don’t advertise the only people who know about it are active players of MapleStory or Maplestory content. People tend to flock to where the pack is too, so most would just select Reboot 1 without understanding the draw of a new server.

They will eventually find through reddit or other means about other reboot worlds. It's not like there's zero videos on the subject. New players have nothing to lose, they are not established in either worlds. They can easily hop. That's what I did along with many others that went to EU reboot from NA reboot.
Point blank this does incentivize players to return. Starting on a new server with 0 legacy items sounds amazing. Now if I can transfer all my CS I would do it.
agree hard, fresh servers in MMOs are always hype for a few weeks minimum because they have huge streamer pull and community interaction Nexon doing nothing to advertise this until 2 weeks out makes me think that it'll be semi active but barely make a drop in terms of streamers and the extended community since there is barely any time to plan and organize

For me I wonder what is the point of adding in a second server that is basically the same as the first. If the regular servers have trade and the merchant aspect of it, and reboot was a lot more progression based (building legion, link skills), with items not being trade able and cubes purchasable with mesos, etc. They shouldve used this opportunity to introduce a new world emphasizing a different aspect of maple, I have two ideas: Maplestory classic: return to classic form of maplestory, but with QoL changes Maplestory Party: Modern maplestory but make it more efficient to party while grinding than solo, and make party quests as viable or more so than solo grinding. In both of these servers, I would say get rid of legion and link skills, they are very time consuming and many friends I tried to get into maple dont precisely because of 3 things: Overwhelming, so many lightbulbs and quests early on (due to legacy quests added over the years that you have little reason to complete nowadays) Doesnt feel social: Its much more optimal to grind in a map by yourself for many hours in the game to build your legion, skills, etc. Even though you can be in a voice chat with someone, you cant really do anything with them unless its a boss and those only reward you once per day / week. Time commitment and gap between players: pay to win aspects and there is too much time commitment to actual enjoy the mid / late game content. So many pre requisite quests for bossing and long quest lines for items (ex totems), a lot of stuff just really arent explained in game to a new player, leaving them confused what to do. point is, make a new server that is different for others that appeals to others, and not risk splitting the reboot player base and making the world feel less lively. If this new server was all about party play, party quests, no legion and no link skills (you can just pick a main and play on that with your friends and build a party to progress through the game with eachother), I would join that server in a heart beat, and I know many of my friends would too that dont play the game currently.
I agree this is a great idea. I think the easiest implementation is what they aimed for to solve server population issues and they stumbled onto an idea that attracts a lot of players. It shows they have the capabilities to expand servers which is great. Many games have temporary modes or twists via seasons like you describe and that would be a great way to drive engagement for Nexon. At this point I’m convinced this won’t ever happen or at least not anytime soon.
It’s completely ok to not participate. That doesn’t mean there’s no value in the server to new players, competitive players, people looking for the fresh start with the community., a temporary break from end game grind. You don’t need to play the other server forever either. Many people will treat it as a temporary game mode on release. It’s a good idea, presented poorly.
People will. Some people are stupid enough and so lost in this shit game that now they strive for rank 1 this and rank 1 that. And they are also stupid enough to believe the reason they are being held back is because some players have legacy items like the totems and the badges, so they want to go to the new server to 'level the playing field' completely ignoring the fact that whoever hits rank 1 is just gonna be luckier than others when SFing and cubing and when getting drops, and you literally don't need legacy items to hit rank 1. Folks are gonna be grinding 8k legion all over again to get clout that is completely based on RNG. Clout that nobody gives a fuck about, and they'll be known/remember for 1 day at best. And all of that in a non-PvP game. And they choose MapleStory no less, out of all MMOs.

I hate how thier constant "solution" to reg server becoming less popular in KMS is to simply decentivize people from playing reboot by nerfing it; instead of buffing reg servers like they should. Blocking the server is a new low, and this shit is just unacceptable.

Even us players can come up with better ideas when it comes to capitalizing on a new server than mehxon can. It seems like all we're getting from mehxons idea is the server but nothing else for moving there from the older server. What they should do is give an option to transfer your spent money, give out free pets, cash shop items and resources, some gear to help progress to end game, some cool/unique events etc. A major thing they also could have worked on would be a way to skip character stories / certain quest stories which are tedious to do all over again. All this to make not only new/returning players interested but also veterans, because as it is veterans spent many hours of grind into current server and also money so why on earth would they move other than having the feeling of being fresh/new with other players? And this reason alone wont motivate enough people to move other than maybe for a couple of hours until they realise they don't want to do it all again. On top of this where is the promotion for this update/server? Are they so greedy with their money they forget marketing is important? What new players will they get from this other than people stumbling onto it by pure luck/chance? But of course mehxon still believes that being greedy and scamming their playerbase is the way to go rather than uplifting their players with bunch of good stuff, giving the game a good reputation and increasing its popularity which in turn will make them more revenue. But stay stupidly greedy and ignorant 20 years later I guess. Maybe I'm wrong though, we shall see if all they do is release the server but give us nothing else or if I stand corrected.

I’ve had people telling me that somehow new players will just know about the server because they are on other platforms which talk about it… As if people who don’t play the game are somehow keeping their eyes peeled for MapleStory content in their free time. It’s just sad especially in tandem with continued news of GMS exclusive nerfs. It’s wild to me that they seem to not be looking to expand the global market at all.
This was a great video! Nexon's way to implement thing is an issue no doubt about that. But, two things I dont see any maple youtubers talking about are: 1) Potential server performance. To my understanding two servers with 40 channels would perform better than 1 server with 80 channels. Even if you are in single channel, the server still needs to communicate information like daily reset of if something happens to all servers at the same time. (If someone has a better understanding, i am willing be to wrong.) 2)Nexon had two opportunities with recent updates to add a new server. Either the savior update or new age. In between these bigger updates would cause issues with sixth star event timing. Yes, Nexon could be handling things better but if reboot crashes more or server fills up when new age releases. We would be complaining "why nexon didnt have the foresight of this happening." (I am not targeting you but you have a great video and maybe something that could be brought out as a positive thing for the community.)
I agree. That’s what I was saying with the stopgap, in other words a temporary way of dealing with an underlying problem with server performance as a whole. I think there are better solutions for the players, but they may not be feasible from a business perspective.
Well we got another set of nerfs for no reason, so I’m still looking for the positive. Great content is overshadowed by horrible management of the game.
Just giving my honest take, I’d consider this video fairly positive in light of many people who seem just outright opposed to a new server. It even has constructive criticism for how they could have handled it better. But, when you criticize things that people like I guess that’s doomer fuel…

I wish everyone could be on one server but we still have technical limitations hopefully the industry can solve in the future.
