I can not believe this actually clicked and worked for me. Hit 20 drives on the range today and not one slice, the same set up and logic applied to my woods. Thank you Danny!

This should be required viewing for every beginner golfer, before they even pick up a club. In fact the R&A and USGA should mandate that every. single. set. of new golf clubs be sold with a pamphlet containing a text-and-images version of this video. I only learned of these principles 30 long years into my golf journey. So much time (and so many golf balls!) wasted.
Absolute gold here, @Danny Maude -- keep up the great work!

Thank you so much, Danny. From 04:00 on, you start telling/warning us about the cocking of the wrist. Thus changing the club-face. Today on the driving range I forced myself to keep my wrist straight and fixed. A few things happened. Weird enough it added 20 or so meters to my range. But most reportedly the balls went straighter and straighter. I could not help it but chuckle my way through the ball-bucket. The accuracy that I gained with this notion is amazing. Thank you so much. The only thing I have to get used too is the arc that my club-head makes. It feels different now. At the top of my swing I feel that a little circle-motion with the club-head has sneaked in. Thank you so much. All the best.

Brilliant video Danny. I am currently 13 handicap and already seeing a huge difference in my results off the tee and my confidence has boosted. I always been timid with my driver off the tee because I didn't know if I was going to hook pull my driver or have a draw. This drill I work on every week has resulted in confident drives and I never over think my first shot off the tee. Thanks for sharing!

I rarely comment on videos but I have to give props to Danny for his tutorial videos. Instead of explaining and never showing like most videos he gets straight to it and simplifies it so it is easy to follow and very fun to work on as he talks through exactly how to fix the issue. It took me about 15-20 swings total to take my driver from a 200-yard hard slice right to a 255-yard slight draw down the middle of the fairway! Thank you for your videos!

    Danny, Thank you.
I just wanted to share my experience with this golf video. I watched it on the ferry on my way to work yesterday and decided to put your tips to the test during a quick 9-hole round this morning.
For the first 5 holes, I stuck to my usual swing and battled with my usual slice. Then, with 4 holes to go, I thought, "What the heck, let's try Danny's tips now instead of waiting for the range." The results were instant and quite incredible! I've rarely hit a draw in my life, but implementing your well-explained advice, I hit 4 in a row-bang, bang, bang, bang, each centre of the fairway. My playing partners litrally couldn't believe it!
I've tried numerous methods to eliminate my driver since I have been playing golf, but your straightforward explanation really clicked for me. Admittedly, the feeling of hitting the ball to the right felt strange initially, but the results were well worth it.
Thank you so much for sharing your expertise. I'm excited for my round tomorrow to see if I can carry this newfound success forward. Looking forward to more great tips from you! Keep up the great work!

I’ve been slicing my driver so bad I stopped using it and stuck with my woods. I trusted the process one part at a time and it totally worked. I'm a 65 year old man ,been playing golf for a few years now and i can honestly say this instructional video has really changed my swing using driver. I was a constant and frustrated slicer but i never was able to change my swing until this brilliant video. Now after just one range session i kid you not, my slice has gone and I'm hitting the ball 50 yards longer than i have for years. I cannot thank Danny enough for his explanation of how it should feel to hit round on the ball as opposed to coming over the top. Thank you for transforming my driver of the tee.

THIS IS THE ONE I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR!!!
I found this video 2 weeks ago, and already trying this "hook" position at the start of the swing. And from usually play around 85-90 now it's been 2 round of 80 and 81🤯🤯
I hit everything in that (driver, iron, wedge) starting position. The only tweak i add is, on follow through, i try to imagine hitting fade so it going straight if not, then the ball will be snap hook

    Hi Danny
This is my number 1 problem with my driver which I have not overcome for over a year now! I don't hook left but just send the ball directly left which has exasperated me: this in particular if I tried to alter the face all I achieved was a monumental slice! I have found - just like your other videos - this one to be particularly informative due to your clear and detailed explanations. Why I think it'll work this time for me is that you break down a complex problem into specific steps that each need practice. Thanks for another invaluable video.
    Best regards from Peter

  • @NoCapPinnochio

Mandatory video for anyone that slices the ball. I used to slice it, then I got my club face squared and started hitting it straight left. Now I have the confidence needed to try to swing more out to the right and not worry about it slicing even further right. You nailed everything here. Fix your club face first, then worry about path. Don't overlook grip for club face control. I thought I had a "strong" grip but I was actually gripping it weak! I wondered why I couldn't close the club face.

I started playing golf in 2006 and I'm 54 now. Since I started I always had a slice, or what I liked to call a power fade to make myself feel better about it. Always been able to hit it fairly far and still get an average of 270 meters (300 yards) + on my drives. My very 1st official handicap was 11 but it soon moved up and I basically stayed a 15/16 since then. Then about 5 months ago I watched a video of yours in which you demonstrated how senior golfers can get more rotation if they lifted their front heel in the backswing and their back heel in the follow through. Just after watching the video I went to the driving range and tried it, I hooked every ball and although that's just the opposite of my slice, it was the 1st time ever I didn't slice it. That Monday I played in my normal 4 ball and did the move with my heels...and for the first time in my golfing life I had a baby draw! In 6 weeks I moved down to a 8 HC (and still around 10 now) just because I started hitting fairways regularly. So maybe that heel movement was to get more rotation, but by doing that, I started getting my clubface in the right position more often and my swing path corrected itself by me doing it. So, just wanted to say thanx for that, much appreciated.

Tried this yesterday but only for the last few holes. IT WORKS !
So simple, normal set up, ball inside lead heel, close face slightly then bump hip towards target which returns the face to square and gives a slight in to out path.
Superb, first time it went miles with a slight draw. Even if I can do this even 50% of the time I will be well pleased.
    Thanks once again Danny !

Danny!! I need some advice. I just started playing golf about 3 months ago. Hitting my driver down to my 3 wood is so much easier than hitting my irons and 4 hybrid. I can not stop thinning my shots and slicing horribly while hitting off the fairway or rough.Hitting off of a tee is a bit easier but i find myself standing up too much during my down swing or leaning back a bit. Any guidance will be extremely appreciated and helpful! Thank you in advance.

Another great video Danny. I was explaining to an old football friend of mine who was new to golf, about draws and fades and how they happen. I remember he was particularly skilled at free kicks so I said to him imagine you are wanting to bend the ball around the wall. Your run up is the path and how you shape your foot against the ball is the club face. He twigged straight away using that description. But the best bit of advice I gave him was to watch your channel and this particular episode. 😂

I would either slide or hit straight left. Today I tried moving my hips forward and aiming right, as you recommend, directly in the golf course. I know you are supposed to practice first but I went straight to the golf course. It has been MAGICAL! Wow, I’m new to golf only played my 1st round in July. I quickly dropped to a 13.1 handicap (apparently a natural sportsman) my irons are generally straight, but struggle with consistent distance. My driver a complete box of frogs, I hit an average carry 240 yards but it could go anywhere generally a big slice. My local course has lots of trees lining the left side of most tee box’s which don’t allow me to compensate for my slice, the few holes that do allow me to aim left, typically I hit it straight into the trees on the left. I’ve watched lots of video’s fix your slice in 5 minute, follow this simple trick to never slice again, result, generally minimal gains then back comes the slice sometimes worse. This video is the 1st one to get me consistent results, I’ve never drawn a ball in my short golfing life, but trip to the range this morning followed your advice, boom longer hits right to left shape, shot after shot right to left draw. I was even able to control it. 70 with the driver 65 did what I wanted them to do. I thought too good to be true, so I decided a 2nd trip to the range once again right to left movement when I wanted to. I was even able to adjust try grip to go straight. I was easily carrying passed the 250 yard marker with the range balls, I can not wait to hit the course now.

Hi again Danny, after watching one of your vids yesterday I felt compelled to find one for straightening my drives, as I said I'm a low hooker of the golf ball so hopefully this video will help even though you focused on slicing it's the same process in reverse. Thanks again

So glad I found this video Danny. I literally made my way through 50+ pizzas at the range weekend just gone 😂.
Irons are fairly consistent but my Driver has always been a monster slice. I'm gonna give this 11am/exaggeration drill a proper go before my round next weekend. Thank you!

This video is wonderful - it has helped me incredibly! Such a gift to finally really understand why the slice happens and also how to fix it. Learning the feeling of hitting like I'm trying to hit to the right and have the ball sail straight down the fairway is almost magical. Thank you very much Danny!

Just like to say thanks Danny. My driving can be erratic so I went straight to the range and tried that. Certainly made a difference and will be working on it further. It’s certainly a mind problem intending to hit it right. Just needs fine tuning now.

Thank you for this Danny. Been struggling with my driver recently, and took this to the course this morning. I have never hit so many fairways in one round. Closest I got to my usual slice was a slight fade.

Danny, I’m now only an occasional slicer of the driver, as I have incorporated todays tip some time ago. But what really has seemed to pick up my distance and ball flight is the term I heard “ knuckles toward the ground”. This really improved my driver, and my irons actually as well. Maybe you can elaborate on that term a little in the future. It took me awhile to achieve it and I still have some inconsistency with it but it seems to work for me when I get it right. Thanks for all you do!

The principals you share are so well explained and easy to follow. I'm a left handed golfer that struggles the most with driving. I take all these ideas to the range in hopes of putting it all together at some point.

Just a simple honest comment.. doesn't make a difference if you are right or left handed, righties slices to the right, Iefties to the left.

Went to the range with this drill today. The changed stance of pushing and tilting my hips to allow for the in to out path was a game changer. Starting in that position along with a strong grip and the feeling of throwing my hands out and to the right, i was hitting far better. Definitely need more range sessions for consistency, but the biggest change i noted was easy diatance and contacting the middle of the club face. I felt like i wasnt swinging hard and my drives were carrying probably 40-50 yards longer than usual with the glancing blow of a slicing shot path.
    Thanks Danny - great drill.

Play off 12 but been slicing drive forever. Watched this last night and it matched totally with something I had been trying which was to try and strike the rubber tee peg on mat with eyes closed only focusing on balance. Today had 20 min practice and then went round in 4 under my handicap. Skyed 2 and all the rest straight into a howling wind, likewise with irons. I found this was magic!

8:50 is such a great example in motion of slicers and hookers and why the “reverse K” stance is so important. I even started adopting that for my irons and woods off the deck and try to start off with that pose. It really helps with fades and slices. Just be mindful of fatting the shot.

I took this lesson to the driving range today and my slice has vanished! I looked under my bag, I looked under the turf but I couldn’t find it anywhere, I even checked my pockets, my slice is gone.
Thank-you so much for sharing this lesson. All my drives went straight and I made sure I was hitting into wind so any spin would be exaggerated.
I can’t wait to try this out on Sunday when I play, I’m even going to tee off with a new ball.

This video has so worked for me. OK, it was only one round but I shot my best round for two years. No slices. Half the woods were perfect drives (and much longer than usual) with a modest draw the rest were more aggressive hooks that I'll need to work on. My irons off the tee were noticeably crisper, though the draw was less pronounced. A couple of birdies and beat my handicap for a change. Can't wait to get out there again. Thanks Danny. You da man!
