    These tips fixed my 10-year-long driver slice in less than 3 minutes on the range-and the adjustments were easy to bring to the course. Single biggest change to my golf game ever. Added 40+ yards to my drive and dropped my score dramatically by getting back in the right fairway. THANK YOU CLAY!

    This video was fantastic. Loved how you actually talked about body position and didn't just tell us "you have to hit inside out" without explaining how we to actually do it. Can't say I developed the draw like you showed, but it definitely got rid of my wicked slice with the driver. I now have a gentle fade. I'll keep working at it. I just recently started to learn golf (2 months) so everything is still new to me.

    FEEDBACK: Extremely helpful!!!! 60 years old, single handicap. The last two/three years the driver has been fading. I have to focus on my irons and metals to avoid too much draw. Anyway...........lowing the right arm really did the trick. I didn't see much difference with pointing the right foot outward, but setting up with all three confirms a draw. Thanks.
    I swung easy to get the principals down first, but didn't lose any distance. Slowly increase the swing speed now. Taking my time on that.

    Clay, I came across your videos yesterday. I have had a shanking problem for a couple of years...yes, years. I have averaged two shanks per round even though I have had lessons from a pro and watched many videos. Last night I watched two of your videos: the one on shanking and Turn your slice into a draw. I had only 20 minutes to practice right before the round today. Something clicked between me and your videos. I had NO shanks today and hit a draw over half the time. The really important thing was that I used impact paper in the short time I had. It immediately told me I was not close to shanking. That gave me confidence. That is the most important thing when you have the shank disease. I knew that concentrating on turning my hips to the left would stop my shanks. What a great feeling. THANK YOU CLAY!! Dave S.

    Looked a half dozen videos trying to get rid of slice/heavy fade. This one finally did it for me! Went from 175-210 yds into the right side trees, to constant 250 yds plus straight drive with a light draw. Thank you Clay you took off 10 plus strokes off 18!

    Finally, a video showing the proper set up, ie. slightly closing the shoulders vs. tilting to the right. This makes all of the difference. When I "tilt" to the right, I tend to push the ball to the right. Thank you for this tip.

    I've been getting progressively more hung up about my driving and it's spoilt my enjoyment of this wonderful game. I've had serious issues coming over the top and across the line and I've watched and practised a dozen YT videos. Having just spent an hour at the range to try out your instruction, I found it clear, understandable and hugely implementable. I'm now consistently hitting within half a fairway width and clearing the 200 yard marker and I'm delighted. I've no doubt that once I'm hooked up with this new method, I will be running the ball out to the 250+ distance, more than enough to bring all holes within regulation. Thx buddy, thx very much.👍

Now after taking into some of the advice in this video, I am hitting driver straighter. It's the right foot being back and open and forearm change i feel has helped me lots. Thank you.

    You have the best and most detailed videos on UA-cam. I have taken a long break from playing but have just recently started again, I was never a great player but I would say I was at least a decent ball striker when I used to play. The decade long break I took is virtually forcing me to learn from the ground up. I unfortunately can't afford to pay for coaching etc.. but this single video has pretty much completely addressed my driving issues. I have a good swing speed and typically make good contact but am plagued by big fades and border line slices that I can't accurately judge. The way you broke down the swing and showed how everything interacts and the way to correct these issues was pretty much perfect. I'm not to sure you could do a better job without being there in person. Thank you for this post! A lot of your other videos have been very helpful as well. I just wanted to genuinely say thank you

    Sometimes struggle with a slice but have never been able to hit a draw with my driver (I can with irons). After watching this I went out today and played 9 holes and hit draws with my driver. The shift of the hip more to the target and closed did the trick - this is the best video out there to hit a draw, thanks for taking the time to post this.

    BOOM! At 15 minutes in, everything clicked. Tried these three things on the course this last week, must have added about 20-30yds due to better timing, a nice draw, a higher ball flight by lofting up 1’ and my good ‘uns are really good and my bad ‘ins are not that bad at all.

      @Nikolai Ninja happend to me also ! saw the video , went on the course and had 3of4 straight drives..instead of monster slices before. I was just happy about it, shared it here, and someone other told me that i lie...but for what reason ?? If you manipulate the body position, it seems to work, that you cannot swing the club as wrong as before...that's no magic :) ...however...for me it worked for a couple of drives now (maybe 20 from 30).

    • @JK-cv9jf
      @JK-cv9jf 5 років тому +1

      @Nikolai Ninja I usually think they're paid endorsers. But I tried everything in this video, hit about a dozen balls on the range, then hit mostly fairways with my driver for the first time in my life. Although I did have to change my aim point as I was hitting the ball straight.... into the woods on the left hand side... before I did :)

    I have struggled with a slice for my entire golf life. There were moments when it went away, but the consistent issue for me has always been slicing a golf ball with my driver (even with some lessons & countless 'tips' from friends & family who are single handicap golfers). However, after watching this video on Friday & being able to hit a few balls today I noticed a huge difference. I played 12 holes (it rained) & while hitting a driver on 8 of them I didn't slice a single ball. There are certainly some kinks that need to be worked out, but this video has made a huge impact already: my drives were drawing. My irons were drawing (instead of the typical high fade). On the last hole (468 yd par 5) I hit a lovely drive that started right edge of the fairway & drew to the center eventually rolling out to about 15-20 yards behind the 150 yd marker while I typically hit drives in the 225-250 yard range.
    Clay, thank you! I can't say it enough. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
    I'm looking forward to playing again soon to see the continued progress, but will sleep well tonight knowing I didn't slice a single ball today!

    Clay, wanted to check in and say I shot the best round of my life today simply because I implemented the things you’ve demonstrated and I struggled with it at first but after hitting some balls yesterday I took what I toned in to the swing and it added 20+ yards on my drive. I hit the ball straight or a slight draw every time and I even had new drive record @ 325 which was a great feeling for me knowing that this will definitely add the right direction to the ball because even a slight slice takes away yardage and today I saw just how significant the extra 20 yards is. Thank you again man keep up the great work.

      dude i work in an office and have golf 1/week in my league and i had to do the same thing, just use his tips right from my first hit in a tee box that counted towards my score, and guess what. Just by fixing my grip and putting my back foot to the rear just a little bit, my slice (not a big one, but usually a good 20 yards right of where i aim) is gone, i boomed that sucker about 275 dead down the middle.. this dude is no joke on his tips, i just need to work on being consistent with the setup and doing as much of this as I can without overwhelming my thoughts as I swing. This one! So I had taken some years off, came back and had that natural swing still in play...but now I was cutting the ball and suffering elbow pain that I never did before. I was a heavy draw hitter prior to the break in play. Before chucking it up to simple aging, I figured cuts and elbow were linked and this video proved it. Yup...I was swiping across the ball, hitting it on the heel and no matter how shallow I came down, it got worse.
    Couldn't wait to hit the range and incorporate these points and as soon as I did, it felt just like old times. As for ball flight, there it was, right back on line, crushed over the back berm of the range. Now I'm just tuning the wrist timing for those specialty shots. Thank you Clay, this was exactly the lesson I needed!!! Subscribed and loving the channel.

    Tennis AND Golf?? I've been watching your tennis videos for a couple of months, and think that you may describe how to properly hit the tennis strokes better than anyone I've listened to in my 40+ years of playing tennis. I've been working on changing my forehand to really get the lag/snap, and with the years of hitting this forehand without the proper technique, its really been a challenge, even while working with teaching pros. I'm making more progress after watching your videos, than ever before. Having just retired, I'm picking up golf in addition to tennis, and stumbled on to this golf video, and find you again explaining the techniques in a very understandable manner. Your obviously a heck of an athlete to have mastered both of these sports to the level that you can articulate the instruction in a way that is very understandable.

    First off let me just correct one thing here. The flight scope does not track your ball flight the entire time. It sees the initial launch conditions and mathematically calculates the trajectory based on those parameters. With astonishing accuracy thanks to physics. That's why flight scopes can be set up in front of nets and still give accurate read outs.

    • @TopSpeedGolf

    Here's a fun&quick slice fix you can use on the course: keep your right elbow glued to your ribcage. This makes it impossible for you to slice. Downside is that you'll lose distance. Only use this as the last measure to help you thru a tight spot on the course. Fix your slice then later on the range for good with other methods.

    • @TopSpeedGolf
      @TopSpeedGolf  5 років тому

      Hi, thanks for the tip. That can definitely help but you're right, if you don't let the arm disconnect from the body at the top then you'll likely lose distance. I would try just focusing on getting that elbow in during the downswing so you can have distance too. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor

    Clay- great video and it really works! I didn’t have time to get to the range this week. On my Saturday round, I thought, what the heck, I’ll give it a try. I wrote on a 3x5 card the steps in the video. My last round on this same course I shot a 102 ( bad day). Yesterday I referred to my card every shot and I shot an 83. My best round ever. Prior to yesterday, my all time best was 87. I can’t wait to practice more this week and see what happens. Thanks again

    Haven't been able to keep a driver in the fairway since taking the game up again after 25 years. So I just used irons. Took this advice and hit the fairway with my driver 7 of 8 times today!

    Just got back into golf last year after about 10 years of not playing. Definitely have a nasty slice on my drives. I'm looking forward to some warmer weather here in Michigan to hit the range and try these techniques out. Thanks for the video!

    For me it's what you said about rapping the face of the golf club on the out side of the golf ball that works for me ,not many people talk about the out side of the golf ball to hit a draw . Thanks for confiming it for me .

    • @TopSpeedGolf
      @TopSpeedGolf  5 років тому

      Hi Tom, glad it helped. It's a good feeling to have if you're having trouble getting the face closed enough. You're still technically hitting more of the back of the ball. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor

    Didn't have time for the range so I took this lesson to the course. First shots were straight right but I trusted the set up and by the back nine I was striking a very nice draw. I have never hit this far ever, including a 290 yard tee shot, over water, that looked like it had rolled into the hole!

    I watched this video this morning then went to the simulator. I've been a fader off the tee for 40 years, that changed after just a few minutes of trying this technique. Looking forward to more practice and becoming a draw hitter.

    Hey Clay. Another fantastic bit of info. Been trying this for the past week. Started with quite a lot of shots going out to the right but eventually started to see the ball drawing back onto line. Finally all came together today down the range and I was absolutely killing it and felt like I could hit the ball as hard as I liked confident in the knowledge that my ball would come back on line. Its nice to hit the back of the range. Not done that before. The ball seemed to go best for me when I felt like I was rotating my hip and and letting my shoulders and back pull towards the ball. Thanks Mate

    I want to say thank you for this video! The technique discussed in this video has really helped me impact the ball with a straight club-face and get that in-to-out swing path... I have a strong swing and I've been getting a good 30-50 yards of slice on a 260-275yd drive while losing 30+ yards of distance... The slice has been killing my score because I kept sending the ball out-of-play from the tee adding OBs and Drop penalties to my score card. After analyzing my swing with alignment sticks and recording my driving range sessions, my slice was noticeably caused by my out-to-in swing path and open club-face at impact. The quick-and-easy band-aid solution of rotating-left/aiming left off the tee box instead of down the fairway help me put a few more balls in play but is inconsistent and didn't really fix the underlying problem. This whole time I've been lining up with my feet-line pointed out to the left with my target line pointing left of target too. After watching this video i tried dropping my backfoot back and almost reversing my foot-line so it points out right of target line. This has helped me get under the swing path and get that nice in-out and have a more closed club face. The result has been some booming and beautiful high flying straight drives setting up my next shot and most importantly keeping the ball in play. First round I played using this strategy I hit my longest drive ever at roughly 315yrds to the front of a Par 4. ... Now the miss-hits have a tendency to pull left as the club face closes (I think when the ball is a little too forward in the stance). Loved this video & approach. Super stoked. Thank you.

      I have the same problem with my Driver doing an out-to-in swing path and open club face at impact.. been plaguing me for years. Thanks to this clear and easy to understand video, I'm going to try the techniques at my next visit to the range. I couldn't tell in the video but is the back foot being dropped back at the same time as being rotated outward or do we keep both feet in-line with each other?

    Hey Clay, I do not mean to be too critical about what you have to say about curing a slice, However in my last 65 years of playing the game, I have realized that the most common reason for the big slice , we have all experienced from time to time is, as we all try harder and harder to take the club head inside on the way back and strike the ball with an inside to out path, we unknowingly start the downswing, with a lateral movement toward the target, that opens the club face and remains open throughout the swing no matter how much we try to close the club face on the way down. it is almost impossible to role your wrists through a shot in a fraction of a second, with lateral movement toward the target.
