Got some great pick-ups here, Bill! I wish we had better used bookstores out here...or even just a couple. That's probably why I have to buy bargain books online...the thrift stores out here have too many crappy, mainstream books.

Not only was childbirth dangerous, I think I once read that ancient Roman women had to average 5 point something births just to maintain the population. Ugh. Human biology is scary and disgusting enough in MODERN conditions. 😁

Hey Bryan! Thanks for stopping by. You are very correct, childbirth is scary! I sat in on both of my children's births and ... wow! My kids in class are always amazed when we talk about life without modern medicine. Friday we talked about what musket balls could do and why so many people got amputations. They had no clue. A lot of the girls like to read. Some of the boys like reading, too. I see them reading things like Harry Potter, Percy Jackson and the Olympians ... stuff like that is popular right now. The boys like the sports books by Green, Jeter, Lupica, etc. There are lots of others. I try to read some of it myself just so that I can have bookish conversations with them. Thanks for watching.
