As requested, I have added subtitles for those who enjoy reading along. Hopefully they work as intended! Also, Dr Henry stated he'd never seen any negative effects from Stealth Boys in humans, not that they can't occur. Remember Nightkin used them daily for quite some time and human studies are limited due to their production being rushed and their somewhat scarcity post-war. Right now we don't fully understand the technology so anything goes.
I once roleplayed as a character that really got sucked into the Children of Atom beliefs after seeing the radiation visions of the Mother. As a player, I didn't yet know about the truth and eventually I discovered the location with the stealth boys and her notes. The feeling of discovery when it all clicked together and the sense of betrayal for my character was an amazing roleplaying moment.
Once played a character that was completely sick of all the Islanders crap. Not one group deserved that island. So my character made a plan to destroy all the factions without firing a single shot himself. He riled up the citizens of far harbor and they attacked Acadia. After they went home the character turned off the wind turbines. Then went to convince the the Children to blow themselves up. The island has been cleansed of the monsters.
I feel like your character. All this time knowing the general Far Harbor story I had a slight animosity towards the Children but still treated them with respect in my playthroughs just because I thought the Night Mother was legit. Now me & all my characters I’ve played through with feel betrayed lol
I always wondered if maybe the Mother was perhaps a ghoul, the little girl that didn't make it back to her family's faulty shelter. The one that left simple notes around the island regarding her class/family life. Having not been in the shelter, perhaps she ghoulified as a child as I seem to recall the mother vision seemed more like a young woman or girl. Aside from which, there is also the captain's blend of the Vim drink. Doesn't it supposedly pacify sea creatures which most of the fog beasts are? If she had been drinking directly from the vats or making the stuff as the factory still has a lab, has stuff sitting around for use-not likely to have survived there for so long, had it only been pre-war. Maybe part of her eminations are actually that whatever pouring from her, vapors meant to pacify, not control so much?
Yea, It makes it a good weapon against humans, and then if you’re a real sadist, you could prolly use it to heal Hancock and Strong, if the physical isn’t higher than the radiation, which since it’s a super sledge, it prolly isnt
I don't know much about the Mother of the Fog nor the Children of Atom (never really bothered to dig up the tons of lore regarding them), so this is bound to be a great video!
Amazing job on the video the lore behind The Children of Atom had always caught my attention since FO3. Id love to see some more horror lore from any of the games from 3 to 4. New Vegas to Virginia anything that's disturbing and scary in it self
Theory: "Atom" is actually Ug-Qualtoth, or a similar being masquerading as an entity more familiar to human understanding. Would make sense, given the entities' connection to radioactivity amd being able to influence/control irradiated people, creatures
I just recently finished a Far Harbor playthrough so this video is topical. I explored so much of the island I can't believe I missed the clues that she's just a reclusive woman and not a fog spawn
While it is possible that negative effects could be manifested from long term stealth boy use, as of 2281 Doc Henry has yet to see any evidence or hear of any humans negatively affected by their use.
Maybe unlikely theory, but, the "Mother of the Fog" is a glowing ghoul, much like jason bright. Maybe the stealth boys just arent rendering them as invisible as they should

Great video. The element Mo/molybdenum is an excellent metal for making steel alloys. They use it in many industries including making weapon barrels for m4/ar15 type weapons. Go read about it, it’s neat.
Apparently it gives much more wear resistance, corrosion resistance and makes it overall sterner stuff. Add chrome lining to the bore or a barrel made with this alloy and you can fire tens of thousands of rounds with no issue.
@@joshuawesteros5345 Oh shit I didn't know that. We use it (test for it) a lot at work when we're recycling batteries. Super small amounts in the final alloys, but I didn't know the purpose at all. Cool!
Yep it’s neat stuff. I’m no expert in it, with that said apparently they use it when needing a very high wear resistance alloy. I used to be into metallurgy a bit because of knives but I reckon moly or chrome moly isn’t used with knives, not that I’ve ever seen. It’s high wear resistance would probably make it impossible to sharpen, at least that’s my first thoughts about it.

I'm glad someone pointed out the hermit as The Mother. I've seen other videos that didn't even mention it. Would have been nice to have the hermit wondering the island with a stealth boy. And if you actually saw the weird shimmer the stealth field gives off be able to find her. Which would be hard but awesome.

Cool video, thanks! But certainly takes a bit of the mystery away. My character (I like to immerse myself a bit) certainly felt a revelation when going through that vision stuff. A "I believe!" moment. However even knowing this as player or even char if I stumble upon it, I gotta say: Doesn't change much. If anything the thought that either someone very human and old or a ghoul (assuming the ingame model you can spawn in may not represent the actual person or character 100% as it wasn't designed to be found after all and only seen obscured) is out there quietly stalking the island and observing people and places at times while invisible is still a bit creepy. And we know from the whole Ul-Qu... err ... the Eldritch horror stuff basically and from other lore references that there's both Aliens and the supernatural, aka in short the otherworldly. Even if the hermit is putting on a role here, there's still deeper elements of horror, the supernatural, etc. It actually troubles or slowly corrupts my character who's (and me to some extend lol) who's in a serious mainland surface war with the BOS, Gunners and some other factions that while an intensifying war rages on where soon the Gunners may try a D-Day style landing and invasion (Sim Settlements 2 mod plot) an the BOS keep poking at places already, that in forgotten and deep and far away places, unknown alien horrors lurk and persist, everywhere and nowhere. Especially if you found artifacts of that like the mother of fog statue (still assuming she's supernatural that is) or more so the weird Ul-Qua.. ... you know what I mean ... blade you find at that quarry where you have these visions of the past that you can't really explain by hallucinating gases as they're too specific. My character runs around with that blade and wonders what otherworldly influence migth be on it, if any. Perhaps using it as a weapon is already enough to please some otherworldy entity as you spill blood and cut with it. Yeah, definitely gonna play my character out more like a weirdo over time getting nuts about it or corrupted mentally.
Her being regarded as a witch would also explain the "Mother" name. Many, many witches, especially earlier in history, would be given the title "Mother" (A great example being Mother Leeds from the Jersey Devil myth) to denote them as "wise women", not as mothers specifically. So someone who was shunned for their powers by a society, knowing old myths, could easily take on the title "Mother" not as a literal mother, but as a witch.
