The Shoddycast breaking up is one of the bigger tragedies I've personally seen on UA-cam. The Storyteller in particular, is one of the best series I've ever seen here. So this cancelled audiobook? A great, sad treat.
About time this appeared somewhere on UA-cam. Years ago, this audiobook was a Shoddycast patreon reward if you pledged for the lowest tier. I used to do all the ingame cinematics/post editing back in the day for all four seasons. It's really cool to see people in the comments still reminiscing about the show after all these years. By the way, as much as people blame Austin for the downfall of Storyteller, it really isn't his fault at all. In fact he tried to jump start the old team again, but all of us have moved onto other things and it's incredibly difficult to find someone with the niche skills required to produce this show to the level of polish the fans would require, ESPECIALLY the machinima aspect. I've always said there was a sort of "perfect storm" of conditions that made the show what it was back in the day. Everyone involved was very good at what they did, and most importantly, they had a lot of time to dedicate to it. Especially on the machinima end, it was very time consuming, tedious, and not a sustainable activity to juggle on top of a normal job/school. To add to this, Fallout 4's lore wasn't exactly all that interesting and even if anyone gave a shit about 76, given the online nature of that game, filming scenes in it would be infinitely more difficult without the console command prompt available. Basically, the series was destined to end where it did, regardless if Austin acquired the channel or not. If you want some further behind the scenes details, go check out my comment thread with "Avocado's Constant" in the video I uploaded called "The Storyteller: FALLOUT - Commonwealth Arrival" on my channel.
in regards to Austin i do think when he took over the channel he really had the heart and soul of the channel in mind, it was just that the soul was gone and everyone who worked on the show made that soul. do i think the show should be brought back? no let the show be remembered as it is, something to be cherished. without the original crew it wouldn't be the same. if he truly wants to bring it back it needs his own spin, its own soul, it needs to be its own creation something Austin and a new crew can be proud of and truly call their own. and i really think he could find a way to do it he is a brilliant man with true passion. sorry for the wall of text i have been stewing on this since he said he took ownership of the channel and just took the opportunity to vent.
@@talfuris644 I agree, Storyteller had a good run and it will always be a classic Fallout youtube series. Unless a truly dedicated and unique production team came along to carry the torch as you described, then I'd rather just leave it where it ended and not try to milk it further.

@Juicey Kisses that Austin fellow truly was such a weirdo
All they had to do was follow the first two seasons that storyteller arc was just retarded.
@@diogeneslantern18 honesty shoddycasts fall wasn't just Austin's fault. He did what he could when it was handed to him but it was allready starting its downswing. Austin diddent ruin shoddycast and we can't blame him for being unable to save it
@Juicey Kisses Shoddycast was already dying when Austin got it. He couldn't bring it back from the brink. To say he killed it is to say an emt doing cpr killed the patient.
Besides I much prefer the straightforward approach of just hearing the stories. I don't like the stuff they tacked onto him. Giving him a bigger story and all that. It just seemed silly.
I love this!! Finally an audiobook worthy of my time
I never knew I needed this until now thank you so much for this I missed the story teller series
Why is this not getting more views?
@Evil Chameleon Yet you’re here.
It already has millions and millions of views on the Shoddycast channel
@@thebadger4040 I was replying to Evil Chameleon just because they were saying it is boring but they took the time to come here and comment. But you are right that it is performing well over there.
This has helped me fall asleep countless times. Thank you
Pretty amazing voice and really talented in fitting his vocabulary to maximize the immersion.
3 hour vid of fallout lore? Sign me up sir!
Thank you so much for uploading this!
At work, listening to this, is the most relaxing thing to me. Great job
This is fantastic. Something I can listen to on the road.
This has been a good change to hear at work
Can’t believe I’m just now coming across this I love it
This is criminally underrated
This is absolutely amazing. Playing fallout 76 right now, got tired of the pirate radio and found this. I appreciate the work you do and what was put into this, thankyou.
I would pay good money for someone to make a Storyteller companion mod for Fallout 4.
I was thinking a radio station, maybe doing segments for three dog. Im stuck daydreaming about the perfect fallout again lol.
There is a story teller mod for fall out 4 it includes the story teller and edna as one companion in diamond city. There is also a full set of t-49 (his power armor) witch can be found around red rocket and sanctuary. Just look up t-49 power armor
There is also a Storyteller radio station mod... with a segment from Three Dog if I remember.
The Wasteland Codex would be the mod for you. I'm using it now, there's also another one where they did a cutscene movie of the origins of BoS and even got Mark Meet aka Commander Shepard to voice OG Maxson
Rest in peace🤍
RIP Jason, thanks for giving us such a great lore podcast.
RIP king
R.i.p storyteller . U will be missed but never forgotten
❤
Godspeed.
Man... just hearing that intro right now and to think this primary storyline was written 25 years ago... there's really very little spin on reality at the core of the Fallout universe
I just got hooked Fallout 2 for the.. man I've played it so many times, finding this was amazing. Great job! ♥️
He needs to do this for elder scrolls omg that would be sick
There kind of was one for the Elder Scrolls but the “storyteller” had a kid follower that everyone hated as a character. It literally got hated out of existence.
@@CorvoFG the show was cancelled cause the voive actor coudn't get paid not about hating the kid
@@maverickwildwolf3871 yup, he was greek or some shit and international law plus greek law was a fucking bitch
Can someone give me a link to what was made of this before it got cancelled?
I sooooo need this on Spotify or Audible. I love the storyteller.
Great work on this. I enjoyed this very much.
Rest in piece storyteller, I owe you my success so far with this video specifically helping me get any sleep many nights when I couldn't have otherwise
Ah the rambling paladin. Got me through the last year in this horrific wasteland
Brilliant introduction to anyone wanting to get into the what is Fallout. Story or Game...
Many thanks for this one 🙂👍
I stumbled upon this and forgot how much I miss the Storyteller.
The thought of a deathclaw amped up on wasteland chems is terrifying.
I love this man’s voice, just brilliant
And there’s that beautifully smooth voice of fallout that I’ve missed
I watched this series so much I think I know Fallouts world history more than our own
This helped a lot to get through my overnight stocking shift
I work stocking at a liquor store this was perfect man
Hey thats exactly what I'm doing
