EDIT: i recc you watch this in 1.25x speed actually i talk so goddamn slow in this i cant believe yall have tolerated this vid. that being said im glad you've enjoyed it :) btw i have finished the series by now but i probs wont make a vid on the later half so imma just say the finale was some of the funniest shit i've ever seen ( not in the way viv intended, unfortunately )

Couldn’t agree more. Especially with introducing so many damn characters.
Vivziepop is the type of writer who would take a show like SpongeBob and establish the chum bucket, boating school, and Sandy’s introduction all in the pilot episode.

At least she didn't find a way to introduce Baxter. Yet.

@@cordyceps7531 an angler fish sinner that had the same personality as Moxxie. And a crush on Nifty. He was supposed to be an inventor or scientist of sorts and was meant to stay at the hotel.
Honestly I think I prefer Nifty being weird for the sake of being weird. If they created this pretentious elaborate tradgic backstory to why she's weird it would ruin it for me. Nifty is just weird because she's a shameless creep that's it lol
HONESTLY that's super fair. ngl i have no desire to see a tragic nifty backstory and thats not what i was trying to say - but moreso that the cast is kind of huge already and considering that her only purpose is "cute but creepy" schtick i don't get why she's in the show at all ngl
One of the worst things about this show is just how unserious the whole plot is. And Vivienne Madrano literally compared Charlie's dream of wanting to save souls from being MURDERED to being a fledgling animator and being told that your ideas are silly.

Totallly agree 😭 seeing what charlies idea of reformation is as well as her "ideas" which are just crayola drawings rlly portrays how unserious it is, and when its so unserious why are we expected to care or believe in her to begin with 😭 i keep hearing ppl say the finale was great but i couldnt take anything seriously between (end season spoilers ahead!!!) the fight being periodically interrupted but vox talking about how horny he is and the fake out death(s??) Being mourned by the cast for like one single minute. I literally glanced away and in that time completely missed the "death". And then they completely rebuilt the hotel in the span of a song like they did in illumination's sing 😭😭😭 actually absurd. YES ik its a comedy/ dramedy/ whatever but there are effective ways to mix comedy w serious moments that i dont think vivziepop does very well.

@@Goobywooby3 I think if you're going to make a show that's set in hell and is meant to be a serious story about redemption and trying to help the worst people, the comedy should be kept to a minimum. Like we should only be laughing a little bit, like maybe twice an episode. This is why she should have done Zoophobia instead. That idea was much more light-hearted and allows for more comedy.
@@avivastudios2311 Honestly, this show feels likes it's sole foundation is "subverting traditional norms/audience expectations". Deconstructive media varies when it comes to quality, but this is definitely one of the worst examples of it.

I'm a young writer and I've actually written three books but you know what I didn't do? I didn't publish any of them cause they're not worth publishing. I need to improve my craft before releasing any of my work.
judging by the way vivienne handles any type of criticism i do not have an ounce of hope left (if there was any to even begin with) for the future of this show

With the severe plotholes and pacing and again TERRIBLE, ENTIRELY WORLD BREAKING OBVIOUS PLOT HOLES yeah it IS a fucking miracle this show got made and published
While yes, 8 episodes with 25 minutes each is not a lot of time to work with to
fit a lot of stuff into, but there was no need to fit a lot into those episodes in the first place lol.
They could've done more with the Hotel.
TOTALLY agree. i have no idea why they lowballed viv with 8 25min episodes like that, but knowing that they had that number to work with i feel that viv and her team couldve tried harder to significantly scale down the plot to accommodate for this limit. The plot tries to tackle complex themes involving the morality of heaven & redeemability of bad people and would've benefitted so so massively from having a season to grow attached to these characters first. Catch me GOBSMACKED when i turned up to episode 7 and they were like "its been 5 months!" LIKE WDYMMMM!
@@Goobywooby3 I agree. I think they weren't sure they were going to get another season and wanted to put out every idea they could.
2:50 It is admirable that Viv was able to make the show, but at the end of the day, what I care about is the overall quality of a series. If it's not good, then it doesn't make much difference to me what the creator had to go through to get it made.
5:16 The pilot does establish what the conflict is and gives you an idea of each character's personality, but I can see a newcomer still being a bit lost because the show doesn't go into how they all ended up at the hotel.
19:35 I can relate. I imagined Valentino having a deep, smooth voice, something that can switch from friendly to threatening in an instant. I have numerous problems with the show's casting, but his voice is one of the ones I have the most issue with. Background information painted Velvette as being something of a spoiled teenage obsessed with social media, so her being a haughty Brit took some getting used to.
Does the show even take itself seriously?

This show would work better for me as a movie since songs and story ideas were good but too rushed. In the movie form. she would be "forced" by producer to cut some unnececery plot points and characters like Mimzie or most of the most overlords. Or dropt whole overlord idea, just make Alister a powerfull demon who stole souls. You don't need other overlods who never come back again.
Vivzie could have done better with 8 episodes like honestly
The show's just...OK.
If they did the Invincible format where ever episode was nearly an hour long then a lot of the show's material could flow better. The show feels like I'm watching it on 2X speed.
Also everyone just sounds the same, aside from a couple (Charlie, Alastor, and Zestial come to mind)
My little pony did better an introduction of 6 fricking characters.

Like, I know you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover but sometimes you gotta take things at face value. Even before the show came out it made me laugh somewhat when redesigns were announced for the characters. And everyone was so excited to see what was going to be done, only to find out not much got changed 😅 aside from the art style, I much preferred how the pilot looked - it at least it had it's own style, flavor in a sense. But now it looks like every other animated show, nothing stands out. Well, it has an uncanny similarity to the Proud Family: Louder and Prouder but that's just me. But that was enough evidence for me that Hazbin wasn't going to be all that great. If you're going to do the bare minimum with your story and characters then why should I bother watching?
