The Dachshund…the big dog packed into a little package.
They are like the little guy at a bar, ready to fight anyone. A Mighty Mouse mentality, if you will. Scrappy, loud, squirrelly, and tend to just wreck stuff. That’s the Dachshund.
Their name literally means “badger dog” and yes, we mean badger as in “honey badger don’t give a #$@&!” These short-legged little monsters are bred to go into badger holes and take on the life of Patrick Swayze from Road House, evicting rodents, one by one. The one minor difference? This dog doesn’t follow the 3 rules. It always knows what’s expected (violence), it never takes it outside (literally headfirst into burrowed holes), and it’s the opposite of nice (they can be adorable cuddle monsters but mostly wake up and choose violence).
Dachshunds are a good time and super entertaining (like this video), and like @thejadeddogtrainer says “everyone should have a Dachshund in their life, for sheer entertainment!”
Make sure to keep them busy, though, as they can easily develop health issues due to their stature. If trained properly, these beasts can be elite hunters and rather effective guard dogs. So, get them trained and gear them up with your favorite equipment from Ray Allen!

I have 2 dachsund mixes. They get tennis balls for Christmas. 15 min tops from ball to confetti.
The bigger (18 lbs) killed 9 half grown possums over the course of a month.

The modern miniature dachshunds are actually used to hunt rats and rabbits it is the full grown 20 to 35 lb dachshunds that are meant to kill badgers but the small ones can kill possums
