"Come", Means Run Away - The Jaded Dog Trainer

This week we reconnect with The Jaded Dog Trainer and discuss some commands that may be producing an undesired response. Historically, we don’t talk about "Dog Training", or specifically how to train your dog, because there isn't one specific way that works. The only thing dog trainers can agree on is that every other trainer is wrong!
All jokes aside, this week our in-house Jaded Dog Trainer will address one particular constant with new dog owners - chasing your dog, while telling him/her to come to you. ... We are not gonna tell you how to fix this issue, but we are going to tell you that you’re wrong in doing that! haha
“Dog training is like a high school relationship, you have to act like you like them but you can’t like them too much, or you will scare them away!”
If you begin to chase your dog, you are telling them "this is a game of chase". So, first and foremost, stop doing that! To follow, once your dog is calm and you have their attention, DO NOT PUNISH THEM FOR RUNNING! ... You are trying to teach your dog that coming to you is a good behavior, so a punishment will contradict the response you are trying to instill.
For further advice on training commands, find a trainer or watch some videos, and be patient when learning how to correctly train your furry friend to recall, or "come", on command. It can be a slow process.

You are awesome, gave up training because people don't want ro do the work. Keep up the good work
