Ii didn’t know there were so many varieties, mine is huge with wine-dark blooms and gray green leaves. I just brought some flowers in the house and look forward to the fragrance you spoke of,
Carry on , you are good at what you do and we appreciate you!

Funny, here in Washington State, my buddliea is in the deep shade, clay soil, and constantly wet. It grows like a weed! I’ve been trying to kill one that was in the wrong spot for three years.

I guess by definition the Pugster varieties are classified as non-invasive because they generate a very low seed count. My understanding is in some areas they tend not to produce seed. It reminds me somewhat of the Gulf Stream Nandina. Some people will swear that variety flowers and sets berries, yet here in our area of Central Texas, there are neighbors a few blocks away with 5+ year old Gulf Streams that haven't flowered or set berries.

So what conditions cause them to spread? I'm in northern Indiana and don't want them taking over the garden. I purchased the 3-in-1 (fuchsia, violet, and cream) and the ad says they cant ship to OR or WA so they must be invasive.

I just read that this plant is now considered an invasive species.

The new ones are sterile so they don’t reseed at all. I have miss molly and miss ruby and they do not spread at all

Agreed it seems odd that there’s no mention of garden answer in the description. It would be easy enough to do the right thing here 🤔
