    I just ordered 2 and I can't wait to get them in the ground. I'm in zone 9 so our midday sun can get super scorching. I've decided I'm going to put them where they'll get several hours of morning sun and then some early evening sun. Hopefully that'll be enough.

    I have heard that when you plant a butterfly bush to plant it above the ground about an inch and also to never use mulch because they don't like to hold in the water. Also should I add a good potting soil to the soil when I plant it? We have rocky well draining soil. Thank you for your help.

    I zone 6b. Would they survive if I surround them with evergreens to keep them warm in the winter?

    I have a White Buddleia in my garden which was a cutting I took. It first appeared in my June/July 2018 videos on my channel. This plant has grown and finally settled into it's permanent place in the garden for my February 2021 update. It should flower nicely this year as the parent plant did in 2018. Happy Growing :)

    My new butterfly bushes are still blooming, with much smaller blooms. Would you recommend shearing back? This is their first season in the ground. They’ve more than doubled in height and width, so I think it’s happy. Thanks!

    I just bought the Magenta version of this....Would a 15-gallon container be good for it.....or should it be bigger? Also--what should I do to protect the container plant in winter? (I'm in zone 6)

    • @JimPutnam
      @JimPutnam  5 років тому +1

      15 gallon is probably fine for a couple of years. If there is a possibility the pot could stay frozen 24 hours, it would need a cotton cover or be put in a garage. Butterfly bushes crack at the base if the pots freeze for a while.

      I have not a butterfly bush do that.

    • @butterflybush8981
      @butterflybush8981 Рік тому

      The older varieties definitely re-seed but the new cultivars are sterile - no seeding. Also, when we say re-seed, it's not near your plant. The seeds of the butterfly bush are "wind dispersed". So they get flown far away & then they become invasive in optimum conditions.
