  • Such a fun wheel-thrown mug tutorial, adding underglaze transfers and pressing lace into the mug while it's still on the wheel. I also show how to pull handles, and add a decorative ruffled foot that can act as a glaze catcher.

Love this. I love how you always put everything in video even if it is a fail. As potters and especially new potters. It is so normal to do mistakes. Even as a seasoned potter. We all do it, but not a lot of videos show it.

Exactly! I wish more potters showed the fails and fixes. 😀

Fix it or feature it! That’s my mantra. You learn best from your mistakes…ur…happy accidents (as Bob Ross would say). 😏

Thank you for your tutorial. I have pottery class at 1:00 to 4:00 today. I had planned on using my skull with roses transfer. Great idea. Joanne from Florida

Oh you make it look so easy. I’m not good on the wheel at all, I love hand building. A beautiful mug though.

I would love to know how you glazed the white lace on top , showing a darker glaze within the lace! This is beautiful!

Great video! Thank you so much for sharing! Now I know how to skirt my mugs! 😊 Will you share what glazes you used? It looks like mulberry, or maybe lavender, but internet colors can be deceiving. Glad you didn't edit out the oops with transfer. It was a good reminder to be mindful of the front & back of the transfer. They can be tricky sometimes! And now I'm thinking about venturing out and purchasing an inexpensive pottery wheel and learning to throw. Hand building works but is labor intensive 😉 Vaughn Smith did a demo for a Vevor pottery wheel, and Matthew Kelly as well. Looks like a good beginner wheel, and very affordable! Hope all is well with your hubby and new grandbaby. Cheers to you!

Yes, I thought about editing it out but I figured I'm not the only one who makes those mistakes, and it's good to show how to fix them. I bought one of those Vecor wheels for my left-handed student since they go in reverse. I bought bed risers to lift it up, and it works well. Go for it!

It is mulberry from amaco with pitch black from Clayscapes inside. 😀
