  • In this kiln opening, I used mostly Clayscapes dipping glazes, with brushing others to create drippy effects.

I like the bigger one simply because on camera you see the texture better. They are both beautiful and a wonderful tribute for your cousin and his children.

Root beer is Coyote, and I buy it for dipping. I can brush that easily enough too.

Hi Tiffani, WONDERFUL kiln opening, and itso nice to see you getting around better. Those urns, so special. It's so hard to lose our loved ones.😢 I am completely flattered you mentioned me in your vid and posted a link in your description. Thank you so much!❤ Ya, I pretty much separate my pieces into Slow Cool Fire category and a Cone 6 category. I want my glossy drips!😂 However, if it's courser clau, I don't want bloating so then I think I will incorporate a layer or two of a running glaze like flux to encourage running with the slow cool. YIKES!😮 Always learning. Take care, Tiffani!❤

Just watched!! Great kiln opening!! Loved so many pieces, those urns, I love both so I’m no help to you making a choice…your chip/dip bowl wowza!! Sorry about that purple satin glaze not cooperating..hate when that happens! Your choice of Root Beer on your basket weave OMG and I’m not a brown girl either wow!🤩 thanks so much for sharing!!

Thanks so much, Sarah! Your last kiln live I caught late. Even though you weren't happy with some, you had some great results too. I find even though I don't like a certain glaze combo, sometimes those are the first that sell. Lol, you never know what people are going to love.

Oh, Tiffinie, I'm sorry about the loss of your cousin. The urns in the cantine shape are such a great idea! I love the way the green ran down and formed a reflection in the water. Personally, I like the one with the root beer wiped back, but they're both beautiful. I've always mixed my own (dipping) glazes, but am so tempted to try some of those Spectrum glazes! Thank you for sharing your methods and results. Stay well, my muddy sister!

I love the urns! I made an urn for my dad with a boat sailing off into the sunset and a poem. Painted with underglaze and transparent glaze over all. I did little vases with his ashes mixed with transparent glaze painted on the rim. The glaze got all frothy looking like sea foam (he was a sailing buff)! I made another for my mom with seashells on the lid. I made little boxes with shells on the lid for my siblings. I put her ashes in with the mix of his ashes and glaze. I put that on the lids of the urns and the boxes. They are forever “fused together”. I know how amazing it is to do this kind of project!

Thank you, Lisa. Urns take an emotional toll, especially when it's for someone you love, but the connection to the person you lost while making them is soooo special. It's like he's in the studio with me, guiding what I do. It's a honor to be able to make it for him.

I always love seeing your glaze combinations in your kiln openings. And it’s really fun to see how you glaze the pieces we see you make!
I’m sorry for the loss of your cousin. I prefer the smaller piece. To me, the larger piece is also beautiful but more somber. I like to remember the person being happy even though we miss them so much. I hope that makes sense. But, like you said, it’s absolutely up to his family.
In a happier note, everything was nice but I really loved the spoons and the blue bowl!

Greetings, the green bowl with the trees in the credits is beautiful!!! How did you make it? Is it rotated and then the stamps would be pressed in? And what a beautiful glaze it is.... I am blown away :-)

Love your unique works!!! Your explanations are very helpful too. The flasks are devine!!! I love them both, but I think the smaller flask colors really shine a bit more. It's interesting that the colors shined so brightly when you didn't wipe down the root beer though. BRAVO and THANKS FOR SHARING!!! JUDY 💓

T, The calmer/smaller ones are great for the small ones but I like the bigger one better especially for the larger urn, only because I think the colors would stand out better. You work, as always, is OUTSTANDING and the thought you give to each piece is amazing. I know exactly what you mean by "saw the whole picture" when you were asked to make the urn.....I experienced almost the same thing on a piece that I did make which is extremely special to me. Thank you always for your videos...M

I always enjoy your videos...I learn so much. I see you use Clayscapes Blue Poppy- which I love! But, I am having a terrible time with crawling with it. Specific Gravity is right where it needs to be. It is very thin. Any suggestions? I have contacted the company.

    • @hobblecreekpottery
      @hobblecreekpottery  6 місяців тому

I had trouble in the beginning with it crawling, too. I'm old school and don't do specific gravity. I do the stir test and dip my hand to see my fingernails are covered but still outlined. Keep testing. It'll get there.

Hi Tiffani. It's so lovely to see you again in full swing! 💜 I hope your leg isn't giving you trouble. This kiln load is amazing as always and I loved both the urns/flasks you made. It is really hard to decide which one is better, but I agree the smaller one is more fresh and the colors pop more. Hopefully you'll can fix the rest of the chip and dip bowls. The one you fired here is looking good.

I love the your urns, you captured the love of the outsides. I particularly liked the glaze wiped back on the larger urn. They both are very dignified for a final resting place.
The berry baskets are beautiful! I can’t wait to try and make one with the root beer. The glaze did amazing job to detail the texture on the back of the baskets and highlights the front of the basket.
I’d love to know did your husband make the tree of Life stamp or did you purchase it from somewhere. If you did purchase it, I would love to know where you got it so I may purchase one.
I love your inspirational videos. I learned so much. Thank you

Beautiful work! I love the basket that you dipped in Root beer! It looks like you just wiped back his bottom leaving a tad of color and detail but it didn’t fuse to your shelf. Is this what you did? Guess I am a scardy cat!

I wiped back the small ones, but not the big one. The root beer does this amazing finish, glossy where it is thicker and burnt umber where it's thinner. It's an amazing glaze.

Oh Tiffanie your bowls and baskets are so nice. The textures are so well highlighted by the glazes. Love em all, and the tiny basket ones are cute.
The urns are so loveley with the foresty scenes. And the story behind it, yes i understand the emotion. They turned out very pritty and so devoted, the colours so peaceful.
