Tourette's syndrome is a neurological condition and disability which causes involuntary movements called tics. I use my platforms on social media such as TikTok, UA-cam and Instagram to advocate and raise awareness for the condition and show what it is like living with a disability as a teen in school.
My name is Zara Beth (zeezee25 on tiktok) and I post videos about tics, tic disorders and what its like to be a teen living with Tourette's syndrome, Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and a seizure disorder (NEAD/NES).
I show what its like having tics and Tourettes in class and in school and college, vlog, and I also bake, do other challenges and answer all your questions in Q and A videos.
I am also an ambulatory wheelchair user so I show what life looks like using various mobility aids and how needs change from day to day!
I am also a musician! My newest release is my first single (original song) called "She's Mine" which is now available on all streaming services - I sing and play piano, guitar, ukulele and I write, produce, mix and master all my own songs and content myself!

My cousin has a friend with Tourettes and once I was hanging out with them and it was going pretty well she was having a good day but out of nowhere she her tics started increasing a lot and she said the n-word out loud and she happened to be looking at me (I'm black btw). Everyone around started yelling at her and insulting her and I don't remember how many times I told them about her condition and that it was not her fault but they didn't care and blamed her. They even accused her of faking it. It was chaotic and my cousin was trying to help her to get some space so she wouldn't hurt herself or anyone but they wouldn't leave. I was so furious that I pushed them they then turned to me calling me ungrateful and so on. Then I had enough and called the police. She's traumatized till this day, it took her almost 7 months to leave her house again. It makes me frustrated that some people just don't have maturity and any kind of respect for someone with a condition like this.

She thinks I'm going to stop being her friend one day because of that word. I would never leave her over a word. There was a time where a incident occured and I was called that in front of her and she went in on those elderly women. Then she went to the owner of the place where it happened and got them put out. I have a friend who has Tourette’s and the N word is one of his tics. Usually it’s completely random and when people say “it’s because he’s thinking it”, well yes it’s because he’s thinking “Don’t say it. Don’t say it” and he ends up saying it. Luckily everyone understands because he has involuntarily called many black people the N word but they all know what Tourette’s is. Sometimes my friends will purposely try to trigger his tics by saying “Ricky, who steals ?” or “Hey Ricky ! Who picks cotton ?” and he gets so mad at them because he will end up ticking the N word and he gets embarrassed as hell.

As an autistic person, I know autism isn't as bad as tourette's syndrome but mental disabilities can be hard! I have ALOT of them so I think I can say this😂😅

Tourettes isn't "worse" than autism!! Autism isn't "worse" than tourettes either! Comparing conditions often generalises everyone who has them and can undermine people's struggles.
Your needs are just as valid.

Context is what matters. A non-black person saying "nigga" doesn't automatically make them racist.

@@chmezpolab so it’s not racist to say that ur not allowed to do something that someone with a different skin color can bc of ur skin color? That’s pretty fucked up

My brother, it's not about skin color. It's about Tourettes. Calm down.

I mean being racist means you're harboring hatred for a type of person so no by definition it isn't racist but there are plenty of other words that go with it and disgusting is one of them. You guys say it's not racist as if there aren't plenty of bad terms to call someone who does that. It's bad either way

Once had a guy walk past my friend and I yelling "Dyke", clearly a tic, clearly embarrassed. We just pretended we couldn't see him. Idk if that was the right move or if i should have yelled out, "it's all good" or something, besides if I was wrong and he was a homophobe that would potentially be unsafe engaging with a person like that.

Why are tics usually negative... like cussing out ppl, calling them names? Why dont ppl have tics by complimenting ppls clothes or smile...?

Swear words are a whole other form of speech in our brains, thats why many neurodivergent people can struggle to talk but are fluent in swearing, it's also why people with tics have many wear words tics
