with all due respect to the mother, the teacher didn't get fired because her "message was wrong" - she got fired for being inappropriate and derogatory in a learning environment; a place which is meant to feel like a safe space for children to learn and grow. Her level of aggression, combined with the slur, spoke volumes for her lack of professionalism. It's just a bit yikes innit
Edit: Since everyone keeps bringing this up, I wanted to say something. I’m not saying schools are a safe space. I spent most of my time in high school being terrified someone would try to kill me because I was a gay kid in a conservative school. What I’m saying is they SHOULD be safe spaces. A place free of judgement, where you can try your best to hone your own development, and discover who you want to be in life. That’s what all schools should ASPIRE to be. And yes, in reality, no school is ever going to be perfect. Even the most well off schools have severe issues with bullying amongst their students - and unfortunately, because of how socially complex we are as human beings, there probably always will be issues. But as a teacher, it is an obligation to try and make school as bearable as possible, while still remaining professional. Teachers alone can not solve all the problems there are with the education system, but they can certainly contribute.

No matter how mad you are as a teacher it’s your job to keep your calm with students.
True. At the same time, certain races tend to act different in class. I grew up in a community with diversity of students. But when you have a lot of students of a certain group. im a teacher myself, no matter what happens whether you are frustrated with your students or not you need to be the better person at all times. Being a teacher takes a lot of patience, but if your patience runs out, you should know how to manage your anger. You are an educator, you are a role model!

She cared unlike their mamas. She isn’t lying, Baltimore streets are no joke.
People acting like this was done out of pure hatred instead of concern frustration are gullible. Nobody teaches for money, and she was clearly in a school with a large black student body. She cares for these kids and wants them to succeed but the problem is the kids don't care themselves because of their families not prioritizing education ( except the mother in the video )

Nothing justifies a teacher using racist language. If kids aren't behaving then there are other ways to handle it but discrimination is not one.

You have to consider she was having a meltdown. Like her mother said, she had no racist intention, she said it in anger. Like her mother said, her delivery was wrong. Message, correct. And also using racist language normally is wrong, here she said it in a burst of anger.
