My mother was the same way. The very first time I went, it was her, my Grandmother, and I. We took the boat over the river to the entrance of Magic Kingdom, and she began crying. I asked her what was wrong, and she responded to me that it wasn't what was wrong, but that everything is right. She hadn't been to Disney since she was a child, younger than me. It was overwhelming for her, because it brought back so many good memories of being at the younger age. It is like our second home in a way.
You know, sometimes a ride doesn't have to have a lot of scary things and drops and thrills to be enjoyable. The atmosphere of the ride and the detail they put in it is incredible. I hope you can look at with with a different set of eyes.
Nothing beats that cool smell that comes with this ride. :) Or is it just me?
I REMEMBER SEEING THAT!!! ... remember being scared .... was 6 when i went on it ...FUN RIDE!!!

wow, the ride has changed A LOT. I went in 1992 and it was very different. I like the idea of putting in bits of the films :)

Used to scare the absolute crap out of me as a child! But now it is one of my very favorite rides - very enchanting and still a little creepy (in a charming way). Probably why I love it so much.
If you're scared of what exactly is in the water, just be thankful they haven't added the mermaids from On Stranger Tides (yet)!

I love how at the end when you see Jack sitting among all the treasure, he talks and talks yet manages to go "drink up me hearties, yo ho!"

You're not the only one, I think it's soothing, too! Probably because I find film scores to be soothing, so I guess ride scores would have the same effect??? Who knows!!!
Easily my favorite ride there or anywhere for that matter. always wanted to get off and live there!!
Oh my gosh this is one of my all-time favorite rides at Disney! I miss Disney World and hopefully I'll go there soon! :)
Am I the only one imagining the smell of the water of this ride? I just love that smell.
Wow, the line for the one in Disney World sure is different. I've only ever been to Disneyland, where I always enjoy lunch sitting by the water in the Blue Bayou and watching people drift by in the cool Louisiana evening (or the illusion thereof) as they head off into the ride. The entrance in Disney World reminds me of Indiana Jones, a long tunnel with lanterns, cool but different. I last went on the Pirates ride right after On Stranger Tides came out in theaters and boy! Was that line long!

Back in 2004, my dad and I went on this ride and my dad got yelled at because our camera had a light on it! It was the highlight of the day xD

I was there last month and had the same experience. A woman behind me, to my right, took flash pictures through the entire ride. I hate it when people don't listen to the rules and ruin the experience for the rest of us.
I....LOVE....that....RIDE!!!!!!!!!!! Although I didn't really get the storyline until I read the arcticle at disney wiki (the place for all things disney, including the rhino (from james and the giant peach,) ludwig von drake,........I think you get the idea.)

Me and My friend had a blast!! lol but we couldn't stop laughing at eachother in rides that we almost chocked on Pirates Of The Carribean in the Drop and In Splash Mountain In Space mountain we couldn't even looked at eachother but when she saw my funny face in the pic we laughed like 30 minutes That we had headaches. I LOVE MY BFF
That happened to me once, too, except we had to get off the ride because it broke. This was a long time ago, before the remodeling, though.
This ride was close when I was there, bummer.

Saw this before the movies! Best part is the ship battle of course! Hey Undercover Tourist I noticed you reply to many comments so maybe you could help me. I remember a ride, we were on a moving vehicle similar to this one, and it was about dinosaurs. It's been a long time now but I vaguely remember a dinosaur on the edge of a cliff ( i think it was a triceratops ) and a volcanic eruption. I wonder if you recorded this ride if it still exists? Not quite sure where it actually was (MGM studios?)
Disneyland's version is longer, which may make it better. It looks like this version cuts out the part where you're riding through an old Bayou like at Disneyland (the spot where you hear the old man's banjo playing and the cricket's chirping). It seems like there are more dips into the water at Disneyland, too.

Lol I wouldn't want my mom show my pictures to anyone tough cause I look scared and laugh at the same time My bestfriend and I couldn't like breath on Space Mountain and Splah mountain just the look on our faces and how we came out in space mountain Why eyes were like closed and my mouth was open and my head was back. WE COULDN'T STOP LAUGHING! I just love Disney..

Adrian101882 Well it is just that recycled water would be even more costly if they ran a constant water flow.
Even so the recycled water does need to get replenished quite often from evaporation and the ride itself making water go all over.
When I was there riding this, they had Blackbeard in the mist curtain.

But wait...if you are scared of this Pirates ride...does that mean you do not ride the other wonders, such as Splash Mountain and Space Mountain, or Rock and Roller coaster? : o you should!!!!!

They line theming is alot better than California's, but I like Disneylands version more.

(It was strapped to his shoulder, so they HAD to see it. . )

FUN DISNEYPARK FACT:
"Pirates Of The Carribean" at Magic Kingdom is the shortest "Pirates Of The Carribean" ride-time you get! The longest ride-time "Pirates Of The Carribean" attraction is at Disneyland at 15:30 minutes with Disneyland Park Pairs at 10:30 minutes with Tokyo Disneyland at 9:30 minutes and ending with Magic Kingdom at 8:30 minutes.
+Movie Guy Yes, I've done both Disneyland and Disney World's versions and there is a big difference. The reason being, when Magic Kingdom opened in 1971 there wasn't this ride. They figured people wouldn't think of it as much of a novelty as Florida is so close to the Caribbean. They were wrong. So they built it and it was there by 1973 and I am sure they rushed it a bit thus making it shorter. That's the reason. However, the queue is nicer in Disney World. There is more to see as you are lining up.

Ugh, I know this is WDW and everyone loves to take pictures, but it really annoys me when WDW requests you don't take flash photography on certain rides and people do it anyway! It totally ruins the immersion factor for me.
