Ride is my all-time favourite band, ever since I was a teenager back in the 90's. Some of their songs are so haunting and mesmerising. This is such a gem. Timeless.
@@andreacontu2675non saremo tanti, ma siamo fedeli ai RIDE. Hanno ancora tanto da dirci! Devo ringraziare un amico per avermi dato questo gruppo. Oasis, Ride, Stone Roses: questa é la via!
Absolutely fantastic…..always experimental and great songs….. I hear guitars, synths, bass, a combination of drum types, and great vocals….every song I’ve heard live has been fantastic. Keep it up lads.
Big 80s vibes here! Great tune. Elements of Depeche Mode, even Aha, and perhaps a wee bit of New Order. And indeed, didn't Peter Hook have a side project called Monaco. Looking forward to the album.
Enjoying every new song with it´s nuances. Somehow the image came to my mind - Brett Anderson doing karaoke over some New Order instrumental...with some Bernard Butler thrown in .).. but whatever the sources, this feels fresh and anthemic
One more sleepie until I FINALLY see Ride in Montreal for the 1st time ever. A date 3 decades in the making. Loz, Andy, Mark, Steve....so looking forward to seeing you guys.
Love it! The sound takes me back but it's so now. New Order mixed with Ultravox mixed with guitar sounds and synths from way back in a melting pot which is completely Ride😊
As with all bands you evolve or crash and burn in your originality, they will never be that 90s trailblazers again but they still sound far better than the shit out there
Not bad, I like that they’re exploring new territory. But it barely feels like there’s an actual BAND behind these newer songs. One of the things I always loved about Ride is the chemistry between all four members and how Steve’s bass, Loz’ drumming and Mark & Andy’s guitar melodies play off each other, I kinda miss it. But hey they’re busier than ever these days and taking risks with their sound, I respect that
This song is a mathematical disaster. It doesn't generate the type of cohesion and substance necessary with the lyrics, notes, vocals, and overall harmony. It isn't horrible but it certainly isn't good.
I absolutely agree they are such monsters live..... I thought Weather Diaries had some organic tracks but did not dig last album....it kinda reminded me of like Death in Vegas remixing Ride or something.. ..not a fan of the Errol Ekland production....but I'm an old head so ... ..?
Jump Jet, Birdman, many albums spread them out. And check out the solo albums by Mark Gardener ' These Beautiful Ghosts' you are in for a treat. @@mungofinalfi4480
What a great cracking tune!! Maybe my favourite one from INTERPLAY and quite hard to choose from so many excellent ones... please let me say that this one would have been so perfect for Hurricane #1 too 🙂🤔😜🧐😝🔝❤️
It should be played in a convertible driving along the coast with the top down under the sun. Sounds a lot different from Nowhere and old stuff but it’s worth it too.
Love this and can't wait to hear it live in May. Going solo this time, though. Went with the wife last year to see the Nowhere anniversary tour and her ears were ringing for the next three days. "Never again" she said. Her loss...
Is your wife a Ride fan or did she just accompany you? I missed the Manchester gig cos of car trouble and it's the most pissed of I've been in a long time. Although still pissed they missed out the whole of the Midlands out on that tour. Hoping to catch them in Wolvo later this year. Still haven't got tickets though.
@@lyndonsuch9664 She really didn't know who Ride was prior to the concert. The show started with The Charlatans, and she enjoyed that, but Ride was just too much for her. Loud guitars just aren't her thing. Hope you are able to catch them this time around!
Never going to be the same band as the 90s. I like the energy of the new songs, and that’s about it. Cheers to them for going their own expressive way, though. Same with Slowdive’s new stuff...The ultraslick production kills any chance of deep emotional connection.
There is always at least one guy with such type of comment for every band which ever makes any tweaks to their sound, ever since Dylan went electric ;)
Actually, there are a lot of Loz lovers out there. The variability in his patterns drives the jams. Certainly, they can experiment with sounds, but you probably wouldn't say, "oh, ya know Hendrix didn't need his guitar. There's always 'that guy.'" Or, ya know who needs sugar in a cake. It's ok to be critical.
Good stuff, his voice sounds different and I'd have liked to hear it with a real snare sound.....sounds like a drum machine....but overall I've enjoyed all the albums since getting back together
Appriciate the band will want to keep being innovated and not grow stale, but i don't know... sounds too polished and lacking of the hectic drums, the guitar driven wall of sound - what made Ride great for me. Still, it is a great track!
According to a press release, the album was inspired in part by '80s pop acts like Tears For Fears, Talk Talk, and early U2... jajajajjajajja and NEW ORDER not???? (Monaco "Hooky" por el nombre) great track pure 90s!

Great music from one of the best groups of the 90's!!!!

So looking forward to hearing this live in September!
First!! Best band on the planet. 🔥🔥
Great hearing new material from a band i was into way back in the 90s.

Really excited for this new album to land!

New Order-ish, but still v good

For me, at least. Can’t fault anyone else for finding a connection with it, if they do.
I thought Slowdive's new album from 2023, just had weak songwriting, that was the problem for them
Absolutely that, too!! And a lack of using Rachel’s vocal strengths as well.
Even Neil’s singing is kind of snore-worthy on it, too..
I think the 2016 Minor Victories album is better than anything that came from Slowdive post-reunion.
C'mon!!! 🤘🤘
🖤
Monaco was a side project of New Order bassist Peter Hook... wasn't it?
Yep 👍🏼
That's why I hear New Order vibes in here but in all the others as well so far actually
@gordonbanks1813 when i saw the song title i immediately started humming 'What Do You Want From Me'

Brilliant really. LBH
I can't 'feel' loz in this song :(
those day are long gone mate. I don't think we'll hear Loz tearing it up again like a Rock drummer on Nowhere and Going Blank Again
He’s been using a combination of electronic and acoustic drums for years
That’s why we need a live version.
Well designed marketing strategies for the live music business lol
