This video is amazing, I interpret it as like, how people come into our lives and we "drive" them through our experiences which is our lives, we get a closeup of the faces of the people in the back seat of the bikes, you can see their expressions and how it all might not have turned out good with the "driver", one of them is even crying. You can tell the driver's face is of a tired person, representing the weight of carrying with all of that, we can see one scene where they're struggling with bottles, a skull, all of their experiences and emotions, going to one place to another with them. Sometimes, it's too much of a burden for us. We need someone to drive us to where we need to be, to help us ease the weight of all, and that's a big part of being human. That's why the smile at the end is so important. The driver is able to feel relaxed for once. Sometimes we need that in our lives, when we can't handle it all. I love Slowdive so much, I have been listening to them since I was 14 and they've help me relax and deal with emotions during my youth, I am so happy that they're still around and bringing us so much, I cant be more thrilled to feel again their sounds.

I love this song and video so much. It’s like a movie condensed into a dreamy four minutes. You’re immediately invested in the characters and need to know more about them, their backgrounds, and how they are connected. The subtle androgyny of the blonde motorcycle driver adds to the mystery. We see them staring wistfully at the young man standing in the water. And in the shadows while the gorgeous brunette passenger who has wrapped them in a hard embrace while on the bike cavorts with the fire-eater. And how does the ending figure in? Seemingly they are sleeping on the driver’s shoulder then the gentle hand on his and his slight grin. I need to know more, and at the same time love the mystery of not knowing. The entire vibe is perfection.
finally you guys are back I remember your last album called slowdive and I'm still in 2nd grade of high school, and now I'm 23 years old and you guys are back with your latest single and your latest album. i love you slowdive from Indonesia ❤
They mean their second year of high school obviously. Grade 11, 17 years old. They're from Indonesia, English is not their first language. Figure it out.
I didn't know about the existence of Slowdive until two months ago, at PS Buenos Aires 🇦🇷 I heard them because afterwards they sang Weyes Blood on the same stage. From the moment their show started I was perplexed by how good they were and how well that were playing, the sun was also setting and a beautiful sunset was the background of the show. Since that day I became a fan of Slowdive, I have already listened to all their albums, and now they are part of me every day.
So beautiful and cathartic. Sometimes we are the driver, sometimes we are the rider. It's the wonderful journey that is our lives. Just fantastic, thanks for giving us something new, we love you ❤
A little off topic the casting and costuming for this video is amazing. A lot of times when older bands make music videos, they use people and styles that represent what their aesthetic used to be instead of the current alternative scene. Current bands get the style right but usually use supermodels and dress them up almost too perfect. But this video? THIS is what real alt kids look like. The hair, the piercings, the rings, the various styles of makeup. It's incredibly in touch with actual youth culture in a way I didn't expect
and yet some other dipshit's (steaming) hot take it was "self-absorbed teenagers virtue signaling fake angst" I'm with you, this is visually great and captures the current youth culture.
This specific song seems to be about youth and the shallowness of it, but the last album was almost entirely them revisiting their own old feelings so I really don't think they're trying to fly the flag of the young generation. They're just being themselves and if the kids like them then it's a bonus I guess.
I dont understand how i was a child of the 80s and teen of the 90s and just recently discovered Slow Dive....i cant get enough of their music....i guess i listened to too much grunge and metallica and beastie boys and missed out..but i am a fan for life now
Every note, every chord, every word in "kisses" gets into me with such force, as if they were created especially for me. The voice of the Slowdive performers strikes into my soul, evoking a sea of emotions. It sounds so vulnerable, so sincere, like it is revealing my deepest secrets and experiences. I am grateful to Slowdive for their creativity, for their ability to create music that speaks to me on a soul level. This song has become my inspiration and conviction that music is true magic that can change the way we see the world. Thank you, Slowdive, for this incredible musiс ❤

Been a devotee since 1993 and couldn't get enough of every track on SOUVLAKI!...so lucky am I that an incredible 5 Shoegaze bands from those days decided to reunite!
Damn! So excited to hear the whole album!

In the name of the MBV, the Ride and the holly Slowdive! I was told 30 years ago over and over again by my Grunge, Thrash and Death Metak buddies that SHoegaze was dead....30 years later, who´s gone??? Souvlaki on my top 3 albums of all time! The few, the proud...THe Shoegazers!
even slayer retired
Let’s go! Love the Fallen Angel movie vibes
I remember going to work while listening to slowdive and imagining my life as a videoclip, such as this one. Truly a majestic band, the way they build so much feelings in every song, every distortion and the angelic voices, its just unreal sometimes.
Same pinch!
👍🏼😎♥️🎵
my all time favorite band drop a new album, I"m so happy of be alive for this moment!!
I love Slowdive, it's so chill and melancholic at the same time. Souvlaki is one of my all time favorite albums.
This song is incredible. Perfect balance of shoe gaze and accesibility.
Such a beautiful song and love the video - Napoli!
I knew it right away that it is somewhere in the Mediterranean❤!

@@sergiocriscuolo5319 Peccato che 'mo in "Italy" (e a Napoli) tenga, via social, molto più banco il "dissing" tra Luchè e Salmo 😅.

My youth of the 1990s flashing back. Instant dopamine and happiness ✨
Heya You should look up a band called The Doublejumps if you like Slowdive. they have a similar vibe 👌
Not many bands in this genre survived the end of one of the greatest little windows in alternative music history. For me this music burned so bright and was gone in what seemed like an instant. This makes me so happy. I'm still looking at my shoes :)
there’s no genre, there’s just music
@@iemandmusicathere are definitely genres of music, just like literature and art. It’s all music, literature, and art, yes, but there are categories. And that’s ok.
@@iemandmusicaIgnorant.
Just has that raw quality.
Can't wait for the whole album! This new release brings back memories and emotions that only Slowdive's music can evoke. It's incredible how time flies, I've been a dedicated listener since high school and now I'm becoming a grumpy salaryman🤣 I find myself diving even deeper into their sound when I started to learn their songs on guitar. Thank you for always inspiring me. Sending gratitude from Thailand!
"now I'm becoming a grumpy salaryman" 😄 all of us working and slaving, lol
what songs do you like to play? I play Alison & Souvlaki Space Station w all my pedals cranked way up.
@@christinakraftician never thought this day would come when I was younger, but here I am! It's all part of the journey I guess.😆
@@deepfocus888 That's awesome! cranking up the pedals for that shoegaze goodness is what I like to do when playing their song too LoL. I actually enjoy playing a lot of Slowdive songs. Alison and Souvlaki Space Station are definitely among my favorites too. But "Sleep" is my absolute favorite to play. It's like a dreamier version of When the Sun Hits which I really like. I've actually made some guitar covers of their songs on my channel, feel free to check them out if you're interested!
@@EchoesAndFrets will do! I also forgot I like to play So Tired...really gotta stretch the fingers on that one for the chords
1:28 the sound of this is just amazing i cant explain it… when it reaches the drop into the music again. So. Good.
the best part, this is gold
there's a lot of amazing moments like these in their previous 2017 album.... so beautiful...
Yes right! It kinda reminds me of songs from the bands "Bedroom" and "the Blaze"
You and me both have the same taste mate

Perfect song for this winter❤
A song pouring from the depths of enchanting, melancholic souls. Aching desire.
So intoxicating.
Love it.
It’s boring
@@adamsmith307 No that'll be you clown
Thank you so much for this! This is like Sugar For The Pills + When The Sun Hits vibes.
Exactly what I thought!
And Star Roving!
It doesn't sound like When The Sun Hits at all to me. Except for the fact that it is shoegaze, but then all their songs sound like When The Sun Hits.
@@elusory3735 To be precise, this song is not even shoegaze. More like triphop/lofi/dreampop
And yes, to be precisely correct, this song is mixture of Souvlaki (1993) + Slowdive (2017)
the Cocteau Twins influence is infectious, but this is clearly something different and unique in its own right. absolutely love it.
I think there is more Velvet Underground and Isn't-Anything Valentines in this band
Cocteau Twins is perfection!!!!!!!!!
Velvet Underground? 🤔 Why? Where? @@zimriel
neil halstead stated in a podcast interview on jan 24th that they took a lot of inspiration from the cure for this record (some might say they did for alot of their earlier work as well lol)
Thanks (PS I'm the protagonist hahah)
finally you guys are back I remember your last album called slowdive and I'm still in 2nd grade of high school, and now I'm 23 years old and you guys are back with your latest single and your latest album. i love you slowdive from Indonesia ❤
You were 17 in second grade?
@@andydanckaerts4724 That's right, it was 2017 Slowdive releasing their self-titled album, Slowdive, and I was 17 years old.
@@andydanckaerts4724 Second grade of high school is eleventh grade in general
They mean their second year of high school obviously. Grade 11, 17 years old. They're from Indonesia, English is not their first language. Figure it out.

Got my ticket for one of ur upcoming concerts in the States. Super excited and counting down the days :)!
The perfect summer anthem at the most right time. Thank you slowdive!
For those of us in the Southern hemisphere who like their music -the perfect music for winter. For those, crisp, clear Velvet mornings and the like
Truly the Master of Shoegaze and Dreampop.
@@tamere4676 I know. They probably wheren't even too involved in the casting for the video. I'm just saying it's nice.
I dont understand how i was a child of the 80s and teen of the 90s and just recently discovered Slow Dive....i cant get enough of their music....i guess i listened to too much grunge and metallica and beastie boys and missed out..but i am a fan for life now
This is officially my song for the summer. So good!
wake up babe, slowdive is back
I love that melancholy in this song.😊
This song sounds like the more modern bands that the original Slowdive albums influenced. Total full circle moment.
