Randomly watched drive on Netflix without knowing it has one of the most bomb ass soundtracks in cinematic history
Better late than never bro.
Yea, my father recommended it. A great film!
Hell yeah man! I fell in love with it the year it came out. Great seeing people find it now!! A real hero will be our walking down the aisle wedding song.
Me as well

Boy, that scene when he said "It's drivin' time"... An absolute masterpiece.
It's up there with "YOU'RE THE AMERICAN PSYCHO?!?!" as my favorite movie line in history.
That's iconic, but I think when he says, "It's bladerunnin' time" is the staple of his career.
Truly inspirational moment.
hell yeah
No. You aren’t doing that to this movie too.
"The name's Drive Driver... And it's drivin' time."

The most incredible thing about this movie is they made the whole audience have no curiosity to know the mc name , he was a driver , thats all , totally a masterpiece
oh youre right we never got his name did we?
@@Zigeuninja it’s not mentioned throughout the movie, he’s just the “driver”, this is a narrative implementation to provide more importance to our character actions, internal struggles and moral consequences rather than identifying them by a standard name. Driver is a perfect anti-hero, a man with good intentions that constantly cross moral lines for greater good in a cynical world, he is self aware of this, and must remain away from those he loves in order to protect them from himself and his “own nature” like the scorpion with the frog.

Deeply and poetically relatable..and vague. lol nice input dude i love the gut wrenching nostalgic tones.

Both a song from Drive and the plot of Blade Runner 2049. Masterpiece
Right? Also both movies end with Ryan Gosling fighting someone to the death on a beach.

Yeah not to mention him getting stabbed, yet still going afterwards with his chill vibe

Rewatched drive again last night. Going through some tough times. I cried listening to this. It took me back to my mid 20s and a time in my life where I had huge hopes and dreams. One of my favourite movies of all time as I love driving at night but hardly due anymore to my depression after Losing my little brother and dad.

Its hard. Life is.
After you accept that this life is a test on how we will act in our daily lives, you will notice a change in your life. Just know when you lose people, it is a test for you on how you going to be after that situation. Accept that this life is not the end, its just a beginning and there is an after life. It will give you comfort and you will do better in this life and the afterlife.

This song is about Chelsey "Sully" Sullenberger. Not long after takeoff, the plane he was piloting struck a flock of Canada geese, causing power loss in both engines. He realized he couldn't make it to any airfield, and made an emergency landing in the Hudson river. All 155 passengers survived because of his actions. He's a real hero.

The entire Drive Soundtrack is phenomenal, still hits the same since it's debut, amazing how much of an influence it has, espically outside of the film. Truly iconic, the lyrics, and beat is true perfection 👑
This song made me believe by the end of the movie that someone who was a criminal driver and also a brutal murderer is a pure hearted hero. I really love that it did that
Doesn't exist criminals.. just humans with feelings and fears.
Yeah before his monstrous behaviour resulted in him protecting them he was a random weirdo they couldn't trust. More of a "real human".

Anyone wanna talk about how simple but how beautiful the synths are? Really loving this sound.
For sure!
Yeah man let's chat synths
Thats why Im here
Analogue rocks. Just watched the movie along with friends and since I heard the first notes of this cool bassline I just wanted to try to recreate it on my Peak and DM12 soon. I think those beauties are made for such supercool synthpop stuffs like this. So Campbell I absolutely agree with you, synth are awesome piece of engineering and such cool tracks would not be existed without them. Long live the synth players all around the globe!
Sublime
I personally think Drive is a tragic story. Real heroes don't get the girl, they don't ride off into the sunset. They have to walk away from the one the want the most, in order to keep them safe. They may have to do terrible things in order to save the day. In order to keep the ones they care about safe, they have to walk this earth alone. All lot of times real heroes die in the end. All they leave behind is a car, a leather jacket, and maybe a few close friends who remember who they were.
Thanks bro.

Couldn’t avoid to cry a little bit and have a feeling of hopelessness, when I found out that a girl at college I was friends with and I liked, told one of her friends just beside me that she had a boyfriend, I felt so stupid because I thought she liked me too, but I wouldn’t want to disrupt their relationship, right after I found out, I remembered the movie and it’s ending, with the driver not being able to be with Irene and the kid, I listened to this song non stop in the subway, all the way back home. I moved on but every time I listen to this song I remember her, I know they’re still together and I’m happy for them.

The movie was okay
FG Amazing song from an amazing film.
People often ask me why "Drive" with Ryan Gosling is my favorite movie of all time.
Because I don't know a second movie that combines opposites with such a genius. It contains elements of an action movie, but they are not loud, tiring and silly. They are realistic, they cause a feeling of insecurity and curiosity in us.. At the same time, the movie has a love theme that is not corny and cheesy like in 3/4 of such movies. It is beautifull and really relatable. It shows a real feeling. At the beginning of the film, when we look at the main character, we think "ah it will be another action movie with a confident and ruthless hero." The further we go into the film, we see that the figure of a sensitive man emerges from the initial image of a criminal driver and a brutal murderer. At the end of the movie, we see a purehearted person in front of us. An image of a real human being, and a real hero.
Perfect description. This is how I feel too. Going into it I thought it would be a really intense action movie but it was not like that at all.
Watch taxi driver it’s a lot like this movie

It was a great movie- yet it was slow as hell at times and surreal, because people don’t act that way in real life. I enjoyed how little dialogue was used (especially by the barely mute and seemingly autistic main character) but wish the story would have explained the main character and his strange behavior/difficulty interacting with people.

Yeah the pauses that the driver made in the movie seemed super awkward until you read the book and turns out the driver had a mild autism/aspbergers complex going on that wasn't really explained in the movie. Hence the weird awkward pauses.

I remember a month I watched Drive and the scene with this song in made me remember the times I spend with my now ex gf and her family. A whole Christmas weekend to New Years of 2022 from me having to drive her and her younger sisters to the movies, store, and restaurant.
It was a long distant relationship of 9 months so when we had to leave the youngest sister wanted me to stay and play dolls/hide and seek. But I told her I couldn’t bc I had to pack and I promised her I would play with next time I see her again... little did she know that was the last time she would ever see me. And as I hugged her and kissed my gf goodbye I teared up a little bc I never felt like with any other family.
My now ex broke up with me for unknown reasons, 2 weeks after that last visit. I never got to see her or her family I got so close with. I am doing good for myself now but till this day idk what I did to hurt her I respected her and was there for her at her worst but that doesn’t matter anymore.

It was 2012 and I was on my way to one of my college classes on an NYC subway. That morning I took Advil on an empty stomach and had to get off the train early at 5th ave. I felt the world spinning. This man gave me some water and rode the train all the way back to Queens with me. He made sure I got off safety at 40th street on the 7 line despite being late for work. That night I crawled into bed and watched Drive for the first time. What a befitting movie for me to watch that day.

You ask her about the work, not many, but thats how things are, no worries she has saved momey, as always. You finished training at 21, you saw a motivational video and decided to do so, even so late. You finished eating and you are cleaning the dishes, while cleaning, you think about your life, today the people at the park werent nice to you because of being a foreginer, you wished they were nice to you, or atleast to move to a city instead of being in a town with closeminded people. You think about your future, you dont have many money right now, you want to make money and help at home but they want you to study and so do you. You think about your dreams,as always. You want to study, to go to college far away from where you are, maybe in a rich country. You finished doing the dishes. And after returning to real world, does all of your overthinking really matter?, havent you got loving and caring parents who look after you and cover everything you need? Then what are you complaining about?
You go cleaning your teeth and after you walk to your bedroom where you can apreciate a dim light. During the journey you see your sister, she gives you the most disrespectful look, as always. Why has she changdd so much? Is she really confident and thinks she is superior, or is she hiding her teenage insecurity, who knows.

I don't carry a gun. I drive.

Driver was an Anti-hero in a post super-hero world. No one knew who he was or where he came from. He was the scorpion. a cold, calculated, powerful assassin. He wanted a new life. tried his best to fit in and be a good person and utilize his skills to make a decent living. he grew to love people, something that was foreign to him. and at that point all he wanted to do was to protect them. to do that he knew he had to become the scorpion once more. he wore that jacket as his armor. it made him fearless. gave him strength to tap into the darkness within him to do what was necessary. he didn't care about money. and Ultimately, his willingness to put others before himself made him more than just a scorpion. it made him more human than most, and it made him a true hero. the stab wound didn't kill him because the scorpion jacket was his armor. He realized this as he sat in the car, that he couldn't run away form who he was. he accepted it, and decided to move on, no matter how much it hurt to leave those he grew to care for.
well damn..
Stryder Black I suggest you look up the fable of the scorpion and the frog
Stryder Black damn I just watched this movie and that is such a fitting description. well said mate
He is not the scorpion. He is the frog.
The Italian Snob exactly
Now, every time I enter a Captcha, I'll think of this song.
same
Amazing song, amazing film
Makes me feel like a real human bean
No way, as a huge fan of Kavinsky, just noticed this is in Drive (haven't seen it yet). Anyway, thank you Sephora for showing this to me.
the nostalgia of something you’ve never experienced huh
chinqalicious wow this deeeeep
Unoriginal comment. Surprising.
ok astolfo cosplayer ,
chinqalicious it’s either nostalgic transposition for something you have experienced or not nostalgia at all, but rather existential angst over unknown meanings and possibilities.
Miles Greger you described that real good
It's hard enough to nail down the 80s sound without sounding like parody, but to get that much emotion out of a synth is just amazing.
This does not sound like the 80s though. This is what 90s kids think the 80s sounded like. So in a way, it is a parody / re-imagining.
zimzimzalabim Lol what are you talking about this sounds exactly like late 80's synth/new wave . You're delusional if you think it doesn't
LOL, child please, you obviously didn't grow up in that decade, and proved your ignorance as you can't tell this sound apart from 80s synth/techno/electro pop. New wave is a very broad term, what the hell are you talking about? Just because some modern day band uses synths it doesn't mean they are emulating the 80s. It'd be like claiming that any band that uses electric guitars today would sound "exactly" like 60s rock. FFS get some education before talking and embarrassing yourself further.
Batman
This really isn't how 80s music sounds like.
It has some similarities though.
zimzimzalabim
You don't have to be grown up in the 80s to know how the music sounds.
You just need to listen to actual 80s music - and voilá, whether you've grown up or not in that decade is somewhat irrelevant to the discussion.
I saw the movie DRIVER last year for the first time and what a movie it is!! It's very serious but a good storyline. This song in the movie has a lot of emotion knowing at the end Ryan Gosling can't truly stay with the woman.
Girls: Mom, I'm a princess!
Mom: Of course you are!
Boys: Dad, I'm Ryan Gosling!
Dad: Are you fcking seriously? I'm Ryan Gosling!
RIP Killdozer. You showed the world what one man and a bulldozer could achieve.
What you have to understand is
My spirit equipment.
Yes, terror
@@nebula8503 Terror? Smells a lot like victory to me.
is killdozer really a suitable name when only the man who made it died, by his own hand?
Credit given to the hipsters who knew this song before Drive, you know who you are because you've told us who you are
Frightened Inmate #2 sure... Bonzo
get the papers get the papers this comment made my day
Your name and comment made my day!
What do you mean?
Drive is one of those movies that seems to leave an impression on most that see it. It's one of my favorites and definitely one of the best films of the 2010s.. The soundtrack is right up there as one of the best of all time also. I haven't seen it in 7-8 years, so I'm going to look for it.
It's 2023 September 26 and we are Still listening 🎧
Нет ничего лучше ,чем идти вечером среди бесконечных фонарей когда в твоих наушниках...

@@wraithcadmus thank you for ruining this song for me
And oreo hero
I have actually seen College live. Back in 2016 in a 40m² completely black room beside an university. Less than 20 people in the audience, all sitting down. 1 hour of DJ set with no break, no talking, not even a simple look up at the people sitting around. That was a weirdly intense experience.
Yes it was great music it will be live forever
You're shitting us. That doesn't like a performance at all... Are you serious Man?
I think you went to the wrong college
I think you were turned into a sleeper agent
Каждый раз сердце сжимается, шедевр
this music is like a dream ...
