Randomly watched drive on Netflix without knowing it has one of the most bomb ass soundtracks in cinematic history
Better late than never bro.
Yea, my father recommended it. A great film!
Hell yeah man! I fell in love with it the year it came out. Great seeing people find it now!! A real hero will be our walking down the aisle wedding song.
Me as well

Boy, that scene when he said "It's drivin' time"... An absolute masterpiece.
It's up there with "YOU'RE THE AMERICAN PSYCHO?!?!" as my favorite movie line in history.
That's iconic, but I think when he says, "It's bladerunnin' time" is the staple of his career.
Truly inspirational moment.
hell yeah
No. You aren’t doing that to this movie too.
Both a song from Drive and the plot of Blade Runner 2049. Masterpiece
Right? Also both movies end with Ryan Gosling fighting someone to the death on a beach.
@@genocidecrusade6534 drive didn't end with the beach thing but I understand what ur saying

This was played at a funeral of a friend of mine, he was only 23. He was a big fan of the movie Drive and this song. He died not long after the release of this movie. Now of course when i hear this it reminds me of that day.
sorry for your loss sir
Sorry for your loss, especially for someone so young (life just isn't fair, it's often the good that die young) At least you have a beautiful song to remember your friend and the good times you spent together.
Hey King, sorry for your loss, he's in a better place now.

Totally True
It was the other way around for me actually, already knew about neo '80s but dug around and found a good chunk of the music was featured in this movie called Drive so I was like shoot if the whole soundtrack is made up of this music it must be a good movie
+MyidolGwen DRIVE is not à movie, Movie is DRIVE

Rewatched drive again last night. Going through some tough times. I cried listening to this. It took me back to my mid 20s and a time in my life where I had huge hopes and dreams. One of my favourite movies of all time as I love driving at night but hardly due anymore to my depression after Losing my little brother and dad.
I get you man. I understand how you feel i've lost close family members. its an awful feeling. but I promise you everything will get better dude just keep your head up and focus on the positives. I believe in you. 💪❤

Its hard. Life is.
After you accept that this life is a test on how we will act in our daily lives, you will notice a change in your life. Just know when you lose people, it is a test for you on how you going to be after that situation. Accept that this life is not the end, its just a beginning and there is an after life. It will give you comfort and you will do better in this life and the afterlife.
The most incredible thing about this movie is they made the whole audience have no curiosity to know the mc name , he was a driver , thats all , totally a masterpiece
oh youre right we never got his name did we?
@@Zigeuninja it’s not mentioned throughout the movie, he’s just the “driver”, this is a narrative implementation to provide more importance to our character actions, internal struggles and moral consequences rather than identifying them by a standard name. Driver is a perfect anti-hero, a man with good intentions that constantly cross moral lines for greater good in a cynical world, he is self aware of this, and must remain away from those he loves in order to protect them from himself and his “own nature” like the scorpion with the frog.

This song made me believe by the end of the movie that someone who was a criminal driver and also a brutal murderer is a pure hearted hero. I really love that it did that
Doesn't exist criminals.. just humans with feelings and fears.
Yeah before his monstrous behaviour resulted in him protecting them he was a random weirdo they couldn't trust. More of a "real human".

Damnit THANK YOU! I was like I SWEAR I heard this song in some movie and just couldn't point my finger on it. Then I saw this comment. Thanks!! Drive sucks btw.
It was 2012 and I was on my way to one of my college classes on an NYC subway. That morning I took Advil on an empty stomach and had to get off the train early at 5th ave. I felt the world spinning. This man gave me some water and rode the train all the way back to Queens with me. He made sure I got off safety at 40th street on the 7 line despite being late for work. That night I crawled into bed and watched Drive for the first time. What a befitting movie for me to watch that day.

Deeply and poetically relatable..and vague. lol nice input dude i love the gut wrenching nostalgic tones.
I found freedom, losing all hope was freedom
Что
You can. We tend to forget it... But you can. It will have consequences, possibly grave ones. But ultimately you ARE free to do whatever you want.
It's absolutely not wise to excersize this freedom mindlessly, sure. But with age we tend to fall into routines and learn to fear breaking out of them, abandoning freedom completely . The trick is to realize that this is a choice, albeit not a conscius one.
People often ask me why "Drive" with Ryan Gosling is my favorite movie of all time.
Because I don't know a second movie that combines opposites with such a genius. It contains elements of an action movie, but they are not loud, tiring and silly. They are realistic, they cause a feeling of insecurity and curiosity in us.. At the same time, the movie has a love theme that is not corny and cheesy like in 3/4 of such movies. It is beautifull and really relatable. It shows a real feeling. At the beginning of the film, when we look at the main character, we think "ah it will be another action movie with a confident and ruthless hero." The further we go into the film, we see that the figure of a sensitive man emerges from the initial image of a criminal driver and a brutal murderer. At the end of the movie, we see a purehearted person in front of us. An image of a real human being, and a real hero.
Watch taxi driver it’s a lot like this movie

It was a great movie- yet it was slow as hell at times and surreal, because people don’t act that way in real life. I enjoyed how little dialogue was used (especially by the barely mute and seemingly autistic main character) but wish the story would have explained the main character and his strange behavior/difficulty interacting with people.
👌🏽
Such an underrated movie, glad it’s getting recognition with all the memes. The soundtrack is one of the most underrated too
I personally think Drive is a tragic story. Real heroes don't get the girl, they don't ride off into the sunset. They have to walk away from the one the want the most, in order to keep them safe. They may have to do terrible things in order to save the day. In order to keep the ones they care about safe, they have to walk this earth alone. All lot of times real heroes die in the end. All they leave behind is a car, a leather jacket, and maybe a few close friends who remember who they were.
Thanks bro.

It's hard enough to nail down the 80s sound without sounding like parody, but to get that much emotion out of a synth is just amazing.
This does not sound like the 80s though. This is what 90s kids think the 80s sounded like. So in a way, it is a parody / re-imagining.
zimzimzalabim Lol what are you talking about this sounds exactly like late 80's synth/new wave . You're delusional if you think it doesn't
LOL, child please, you obviously didn't grow up in that decade, and proved your ignorance as you can't tell this sound apart from 80s synth/techno/electro pop. New wave is a very broad term, what the hell are you talking about? Just because some modern day band uses synths it doesn't mean they are emulating the 80s. It'd be like claiming that any band that uses electric guitars today would sound "exactly" like 60s rock. FFS get some education before talking and embarrassing yourself further.
Batman
This really isn't how 80s music sounds like.
It has some similarities though.
zimzimzalabim
You don't have to be grown up in the 80s to know how the music sounds.
You just need to listen to actual 80s music - and voilá, whether you've grown up or not in that decade is somewhat irrelevant to the discussion.

Driver was an Anti-hero in a post super-hero world. No one knew who he was or where he came from. He was the scorpion. a cold, calculated, powerful assassin. He wanted a new life. tried his best to fit in and be a good person and utilize his skills to make a decent living. he grew to love people, something that was foreign to him. and at that point all he wanted to do was to protect them. to do that he knew he had to become the scorpion once more. he wore that jacket as his armor. it made him fearless. gave him strength to tap into the darkness within him to do what was necessary. he didn't care about money. and Ultimately, his willingness to put others before himself made him more than just a scorpion. it made him more human than most, and it made him a true hero. the stab wound didn't kill him because the scorpion jacket was his armor. He realized this as he sat in the car, that he couldn't run away form who he was. he accepted it, and decided to move on, no matter how much it hurt to leave those he grew to care for.

It was the height of our love for each other. A time of self discovery and real love. Something I never really had for a long time. I cried in her lap. Tears of happiness and sadness. I never wanted her to leave my side. It didn't last another 4 months. It was most excruciating painful and depressing point in my life. I've since moved on. Even if it wasn't long. I'll always love the moment and experience for what it was.

Real human being
And a real hero
Back against the wall and odds
With the strength of a will and a cause
Your pursuits are called outstanding
You’re emotionally complex
Against the grain of dystopic claims
Not the thoughts your actions entertain
And you have proved to be
A real human being and a real hero
Real human being and a real hero
Real human being and a real hero
Real human being and a real hero
Real human being
A pilot on a cold, cold morn'
One-hundred fifty-five people on board
All safe and all rescued
From the slowly sinking ship
Water warmer than, his head so cool
In that tight bind knew what to do
And you have proved to be
A real human being and a real hero
Real human being and a real hero
Real human being and a real hero
Real human being and a real hero
Real human being
Real human being

Real human boner
Whenever I feel low about my surroundings or what's happening in my country, or the globe, I turn this song on and let it reminds me that there's always a bright side and it's okay to just escape for a while, to enjoy how humanity is being praised in such amazingly produced piece.
Damn, you got me thinking
Why are there so many spieces of living things on earth but only humans (so far) have an abstarct mind and think like "this is beatiful" "this is terrible"
You know what i mean?
@@b1smuth382 Some animals are capable of abstraction as well in a limited way. I guess it's something we developed along our evolution process that other species don't.
I'm listening to this song while mourning a classmate who died at war. It's heartbreaking to think that we were children together and now he`s lying in a cold grave. I miss him. He was real human being and a real hero.
I love it.This is song from my favorite movie.
Drive, Right?
enrique ramos Exactly, Enrique, Drive, awesome film, I can watch it thousands times! :)
I've seen it thirteen times now,( about to watch it again today) One of my favorites.
alex smith
Whats your favorite scene?
enrique ramos good question. My favorite scene I think when he speaking with a bad guy to protect Gabriel, Ryan Gosling explains him, he's driver, he's not carry a gun, he'll help to Gabriel. Then the bad guy writes down on his hand" fuck off" I love the way Ryan repliles to him ,-you'll get your money and you'll leave him alone, DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME? ,Ryan looks soooo cool! Do u know what i mean?
What's yours?
I just watched movie, a bit shocked with the violence but surprised at the same time with how romantic the movie is!! Love this soundtrack! Love the decent acting of both Ryan and Carey
Decent acting?? Fucking spectacular acting bro... Don't insult Gosling like that. Dude was considered a front runner to win Oscar back in 2011. He nailed this role of a sociopath exceptionally with incredible subtlety. It's considered Gosling's best acting performance and Gosling's career has had many spectacular and career defining performances like First Man, Blade Runner 2049, The Place Beyond The Pines, Half Nelson etc.
the nostalgia of something you’ve never experienced huh
chinqalicious wow this deeeeep
Unoriginal comment. Surprising.
ok astolfo cosplayer ,
chinqalicious it’s either nostalgic transposition for something you have experienced or not nostalgia at all, but rather existential angst over unknown meanings and possibilities.
Miles Greger you described that real good
Drive is top 5 movies for me and this song just is everything!
I saw *Drive* for the first time last night. Afraid that it wouldn't live up to my expectations i thought that i might be disappointed but the beautiful skylines of LA, story, Ryan Goslings mysterious character (whom i strongly identify with: A person that may have flaws, but who has a good heart within) and of course: The amazing soundtrack and that lovely 80s-retro feeling to it!
🙌🏻❤️

The power this song has to make you smile even with a Broken Heart.
I just found out that this song was written about Sully. Im amazed. (Sully- the guy that landed a plane on Hudson. There's a movie about him) The refrain ("Real human being and a real hero") is what Garrick's grandpa told about Sully after the incident. The more you know.
Also, just look at the text. I never actually looked into that before but its obvious that its about him

thanks for that tid bit buddy, cheers! and Merry Xmas

the first two tones you hear in the song represent the double engine failure Captain Sulley experienced. It's exactly how a jet engine sounds from inside the cabin. :D
now fucking way. if tru. i always digged sully. a fucking stand up pilot. that man was. Yeah you can bullshit all you want about him. But he saved lives. Thats what matters.
Drive man, all dem feels.

well if that's a meme, it's the first one i've seen without a picture/image

Dj Burna Everyone shut the fuck up and enjoy the song. And the movie.
does anyone else just cry with this song? as soon as it starts, tears begin to drop
Me too , it brings out an intense nostalgic feeling
Nice to see a comment that isn't trying to be some shitty meme.
Me
Couldn’t avoid to cry a little bit and have a feeling of hopelessness, when I found out that a girl at college I was friends with and I liked, told one of her friends just beside me that she had a boyfriend, I felt so stupid because I thought she liked me too, but I wouldn’t want to disrupt their relationship, right after I found out, I remembered the movie and it’s ending, with the driver not being able to be with Irene and the kid, I listened to this song non stop in the subway, all the way back home. I moved on but every time I listen to this song I remember her, I know they’re still together and I’m happy for them.

US airways airways flight 1549 was involved in a plane crash , landing on the hudson river. This flight was regularly scheduled coming from new york city's LaGuardia airport to the Charlotte Douglas International Airport, Charlotte, North Carolina. On Janurary 15, 2009, the Airbus A320 serving the flight struck a flock of birds shortly after takeoff from LaGuardia, causing it to lose all engine power. Chelsey " Sully " Sullenberger and Jeffrey Skiles made a ditching in the Hudson River. All 155 people aboard the plane were rescued. However, 100 people were injured. In this song the plane is reffered to as a ship simply because it was a floating vessel holding many passengers in the water. This song is based off Garrick's grandfather on the topic of this plane crash. Reffering to Sullenberger as a real human being and a real hero.
