    Lyrics
Well you didn't wake up this morning 'cause you didn't go to bed
You were watching the whites of your eyes turn red
The calendar on your wall is ticking the days off
You've been reading some old letters
You smile and think how much you've changed
All the money in the world couldn't buy back those days
You pull back the curtains, and the sun burns into your eyes
You watch a plane flying across a clear blue sky
This is the day your life will surely change
This is the day when things fall into place
You could've done anything, if you'd wanted
And all your friends and family think that you're lucky
But the side of you they'll never see
Is when you're left alone with the memories
That hold your life together like glue
You pull back the curtains, and the sun burns into your eyes
You watch a plane flying across a clear blue sky
This is the day your life will surely change
This is the day when things fall into place
This is the day your life will surely change
This is the day your life will surely change
This is the day your life will surely change

*I cannot believe it... I finally found this f**king song!*
Ever since I was 5 years old, I’ve been trying to search this song... but I literally mean this, I’ve spent over *5.5 thousand days* looking for this song. No f**king joke, i’ve spent every single day of my entire childhood and teenage years i’ve been trying to search for this tune. It sounds like i’m over exaggerating, but this is honesty something that has been pounding in the back of my head for over a decade.
Ironically, last month I heard this song played at a pizza shop, and tried to Shazam it, but it was too low to pick it up. Then it played a month later at a coffee roaster shop, and it was loud enough to pick it up on my phone, and I FINALLY FOUND!
My 15 years of searching for this song has finally come to an end, my stress is honestly, and literally no more! I kid you not, i’ve tried remaking the instrumentals, spent years looking up accordion like tunes just to find this song. I’m so relieve... that’s is honestly all I can say. Thank you :,)

I found it dad, the song that came on the radio the neighbor was listening to that time we were sitting on the front porch. I couldn't remember any lyrics until I heard it in a dream about you. It was the first time I felt a real connection with you and it was for some weird random song we accidentally heard. It was also the first time we had a beer together and the first time you put your arm around me and told me you were proud of me. It was all I ever wanted to hear my whole life. It was also the last time I talked to you in person and you were awake. I don't know if you know about me posting this or can read it but it feels good to say it. I miss you.

It was early November 2020. I got the call from the hospital. My beautiful wife was going into early labour. They’d held her the night before to keep her under observation. As I drove to the hospital, this song suddenly came on to the 80’s radio station that I listen to. As I drove, I started listening to the lyrics and they really hit me! I teared up. This was the day that things were going to change. Less than 12 hours later, I became a first time father to beautiful twin baby girls. As I held them in my arms for the first time, I discovered unconditional love. It was the day that my life surely changed and things fell into place. Having and raising twins is transformational. The last two years have had their fair share of challenges, but without a doubt - the best two years of my life. I love being a father.

The first time I heard this song was this year, it was my first night living in london and i was restless and homesick. I ended up on a bench in a random park and watched the sun rise. I put in my headphones, shuffled my recommended and this was the very first song that played. I had just made the biggest change of my life so far and I was terrified that I had made the wrong choice. I was completely alone in an entirely new country, in a huge city, thousands of miles away from everything i'd ever known. Hearing this song felt like fate, I'd never had lyrics speak to me so directly- it felt like the universe was telling me that everything would be alright. I made the right choice, I worked so hard to get here and now I could finally let go of that fear and truly start living. It felt like everything that had happened, everything I had been through was leading me to this moment on this park bench. I sat there and sobbed my eyes out hahaha. This song means more to me than i'd ever be able to put into words, I don't think I would've been able to be where I am now without it.

I shrieked at the top of my lungs, cried and shook, stood up in my seat, ripped all my clothes off and butt naked, charged toward the screen, believing I could literally ENTER the film. The movie theater security guards were strong, but my will was stronger, and so was the crack. Everyone clapped and wept as I fought off the cops with nothing but my bare fists, which were not bare, but were literally the fists of bears. Later than night as I sat in prison, I knew that Rocket Racoon was with me in spirit as I rallied the crackheads around me to plot our escape. When my mom picked me up from jail in her Subaru after bailing me out for $5, the crackheads raised their fists in support, and we all shed a tear of camaraderie.

I feel like the song is being optimistic when he says “it will surely change” but it’s also too hopeful, you know? Things might change but you might be waiting forever unless you set things in motion and make changes yourself! Just my thoughts

Groundhog Day. Nothing worse than that feeling. Change happens slowly. We just have to take little steps toward where we want to be or at least point ourselves in that direction. That’s all we can do but it’s actually a huge thing. I stand in my own way to. That’s the biggest obstacle to get past I think. Try and shove yourself out of the way😁

I loved this song since 83/84. But the lyrics meant nothing to me until, 30 years later. That was when I lost my friends, wife and kid, family, career, money, etc, to a crippling heroin addiction. After rehab, staying clean and being left with nothing but memories, did this song suddenly have such a profound effect on me.

    Lyrics:
Well you didn't wake up this morning 'cause you didn't go to bed
You were watching the whites of your eyes turn red
The calendar on your wall was ticking the days off
You've been reading some old letters
You smile and think how much you've changed
All the money in the world couldn't buy back those days
    You pull back the curtains
And the sun burns into your eyes
    You watch a plane flying
    Across a clear blue sky
This is the day, your life will surely change
This is the day, when things fall into place
You could have done anything, if you wanted
And all your friends and family think that you're lucky
But the side of you they'll never see
Is when you're left alone with your memories
That hold your life together, like glue
    You pull back the curtains
And the sun burns into your eyes
    You watch a plane flying
    Across a clear blue sky
This is the day, your life will surely change
This is the day, when things fall into place

I was able to get him to his room and told him that I really liked his music. He made sure to leave two tickets to see him live that night. It was really a nice gesture from such a down to earth artist with so much talent.

I was 18 y.o. when this song found me. I was living abroad on my own for the first time in my life and felt so free and independent. Sometimes I was feeling melancholic, but when I was feeling good and optimistic I always played this song. "This is the day your life is gonna change", while I was making coffee and looking out of the window, I really felt this lyrics!

This was my favourite song at 24 in the 80s. I was captured by the melancholic, bittersweet atmosphere of the song and this parisian charm of the accordeon. I haven't listened to it for about 30 years but it still works....

    I love this song.
I remember carrying mail in a Northern suburb of Chicago, walking along with my Walkman (🤣) listening to WXRT.
And my pace quickened when this song (among many other songs that WXRT played in the early 1990s) came on.

I just listened to this song, and shortly after paying attention to the lyrics, I was sobbing uncontrollably.
Nobody told me that living my 20s would be this tough, I just got home from my soul-crushing dead-end job. It's not the job I wanted, it's the only one I got, I have been battling depression and hail from a long history of being abused, just trying to make it out alive seems hard enough.
I think I've learned by now, that the goal in life is to live without regrets. It's easier said than done, but surely looking at things from a different perspective might help, it's all a matter of perspective or so they say.
I don't know if I will make it but I still hold hope, but if there's one thing to learn is to never take anything for granted, some of you have it really good and you might not even know it, comparing yourself to others will hurt you, don't do that.
    Surely, this is the day.
