Metal Zone is one of the best distortion pedals of all time. Ive been using one for 20 years and it never ceases to amaze me how solid it is. It is limited to heavier spectrum music though

It’s a great video and I’ve watched it countless times. But the pedals all do kind of sound the same. Probably more the power of his amp. What a great player, though. Still miss his picking days.

Agreed...good equipment helps but practice, listen, practice, listen and practice some more. No short cuts. Takes time and patience. Put in your 10,000 hours.
Get one of those THR practice amps so you can have a good sound without breaking the bank or wasting space

any time I go to a jam, and the guitarist pulls one of those outta his bag, I know I'm in for whatever the opposite of a treat might be.
It is a Wasa Craft which is nothing like the original/stock one which are horrible.

Metal Zone, a lot of people did not like it for what ever reason, but it was the first pedal I got in early 90s and I LOVED it, sadly its long gone.
It's a great pedal and it has way more applications than just gain/distortion, but 95% of players have no idea how to turn the knobs or use the pedal properly. If you want to put it in-front of the amp, then you need to have the amp already breaking up a bit, and you keep the pedal gain low. If you want the gain from the pedal itself, then you need to put it into the effects loop to go before the power amp, and then you can crank the gain knob from your metal zone. It can also be used to get a bit of boost for leads, and many modern players use it when layering rhythm guitars to get a different gain texture than the one from their amp/s. You know, keeps the mix beefy and all that stuff
Metal Zone was used by Gilmour on the Learning to Fly album with outstanding results.

Good player….however, use a freakin’ guitar pick to demonstrate these things…. it muddles the tone picking with flesh on distorted tones. As a result, we have no idea how it naturally sounds with pick attack, as 99% use a pick for goodness sakes?!?
