Jokes aside, this is an amazing video
ギタープレイもすごいけど、それ以上に歌がめちゃくちゃ上手い&声がいい
Imagine being gifted a Yamaha SG-2000 at 12 then a PRS Custom 24 at 15! He’s quite fortunate to have very supportive parents and that’s probably why he developed into an amazing guitar player.
Can't believe this is the same guy who did insane sweeps and fast legatos on his Ibanez RG 🙂 Like Paul Gilbert, They all go back to the Blues!
Seeing this guy playing on stage is a GODSEND. Such a beautiful voice and playing skills ! And such a smart mind in designing gear !
I saw him on a club a couple of years ago playing in his trio. It was awesome.
一本目にジャパンを紹介してくれたりいっぱい日本製出してきているのが、忖度かもしれないけど嬉しいな!
シグネチャーの白ストラト持ってるから本人がずっと使ってくれてるのはマジでうれしい
Such a great video with RIchie and his beautiful collection of guitars. Interesting history and stories behind each one.
After years of paying this man no attention he is now one of, not only my favorite guitar players , but vocalist as well. I plan on buying the Signature Tele as soon as possible.
ヤングギターさん!リッチー特集ありがとう!
Man, what a humble and down to earth guy... Ritchie is such a cool guy. He gives such great and honest breakdowns of his guitars - he seems to be really cool and so down to earth when talking about basically anything - thank you Ritchie, you are truly a breath of fresh air - compared to so many other dudes out there. Thank you for your incredible playing, and your honesty regarding all of the guitars you play... it goes without saying that you make all of your models sound great man - and your movie sounds really cool...
I like that even though Richie doesn't have a lot of vintage guitars, he's personally attached to the ones he shows. After all, to most normal non musicians it's all about the history and they're the ones paying 6 figures for 50s & 60s guitars, while real musicians see them as tools used to 1st craft their music, then that alone makes them their own piece of history. It's not the vintage that makes a guitar great, it's the personal connection one has with whatever particular instrument.
amen to that
I'm a musician and a mechanic. They are both tools of the trade. "Vintage" doesn't matter, its results that matter. Certain wrenches and hand tools I've had for decades, because they work for me just the way I want them to, they almost have a soul to them. So are my guitars. Nothing really special, except to me... I too, still have my first "real" guitar...from 1978, an Ibanez Les Paul Custom knock off. Love it because I played the bejeezus out of it for the first chunk of my music career. I have my first strat, again, work horse, served me well for years. Granted, its a 1979 silver anniversary...BUT....I bought it in 1981 for $400....it wasn't some vintage thing then, just a real strat that can handle 5 nights a week. I have a bunch of guitars now...almost 30, but the majority are all played hard and mean something to me. My main guitar is one I made in 1986 and beat the shit out of since. I'm very hard on guitars, I play like Angus Young (movement wise) and use heavy strings just to hold up, very heavy right hand. I really like Epiphones and Fenders the most. My mexican strat just rules.
なにげに後ろにあるピアノがかっこいい!いい色!
Richie is the BEST!!!! I love!
Beautiful collection of guitars.
Cool video---such an amazing player that was really fun to hear him discuss his (really cool!) collection.
This was awesome, thanks for putting this up here! Richie has some nice guitars!
What a great guy, feel like I'm hanging with a friend.
Wowwwww he talked about the PRS, it’s amazing to know more about this guitar! (He only posted some stories on Instagram last year)
Ritchie´s such a gentle and lovely guy, talented just like himself!
Nice tour!
Would have loved to seen that neck-thru Ibanez he has. Very groovy video. Thanks Richie and YG!
If only fender loved me as much as they love richie
Just loved to see those shredder era guitars. Thanks for the posting.
Yea I was sure he’d gotten rid of that one. He’s completely divorced himself from that area.
That is a beautiful PRS!!
I recently bought myself a Richie Kotzen Strat in white. In years I’ve played literally hundreads of Strats (I worked for a Fender dealer in Istanbul for 5 years) and owned a bunch of them . What I want to say is, you don’t need a custom shop model. Just buy a Kotzen signature and you are done. A perfect, lively, very comfortable, great instrument. Also one of the best looking guitars as well.
You don't need a custom shop model, but you need a signature one?
@@Texturas75 I meant if you want a higher model than the standarts, this is way more economical than the custom shops and close in quality to them. Kotzen Signature is made in Japan. So, that makes it easier to obtain... You get the picture? Same quality, less in price. Because it is an American brand but made in Japan. Do you know anything about MIJ Fenders? I hugely recommend. Cheers. (i bought mine the same price as a standart Made US model. Lucky I guess)
Ok, IF you want a higher-than-standard model, yes, it seems like a good option for the price. Still, to me it's too much money to spend on a guitar made to meet other person's requirements, unless it meets yours, of course.
Are they available in Turkey ? I looked everywhere but I could only found on reverb.
Said Tuna Hi, I bought mine from SRV Guitar shop. It was on sale from a pilot I guess.
Richie is up there with the GOATs ! Also one of the coolest most humble people in the scene. The Winery Dogs are fantastic, all 3 guys are incredible ! 👍
Awesome interview
Richie I’ve been watching and listening to u for 30 years or more lol. Your a huge influence for me. I’ve met ya a few times and have seen every show of yours solo and winery dogs. Love your playing and attitude. Your humble and very genuine. Keep up the hard work. Thanks for showing us your guitars. I’m gonna get your signature strat soon.
Thanks Richie for sharing with us . Dig it bro !
Judging just by those few notes on the Acoustic it sounds like it was also used on the song Angry Boy.. Maybe it's just me.. but it triggered an aural thing for me and it sounded just like it.. that tone. Awesome guitars
Some very nice guitars. Teles with six saddle bridges are the best.
Richie seems slightly eccentric. He doesn't seem to radiate any 'rockstar attitude' like many others of his ability/experience. I suspect his parents had some financial means to be able to furnish him with a Gibson Marauder at 10, Yamaha SG2000 at 12 and a PRS Custom24 at 15. Money well spent as it turns out.
18:20 Rock Chops, the guitar instructional video that inspired me as a kid. Thank you Richie ❤️ for all the finger stretching exercises, I still play some examples till today.
I love his Ash body with Maple fretboard Strat. It's so stunning
I love how he does all these "Young Guitar" magazine appearances and articles....the guy is 50 years old or...young !
Seems like a good kid, he could go places if he sticks with it
Haha fucking hilarious man. Will be pissing myself laughing for days at that!!!
I am pleasantly surprised to see that Richey sees a guitar more as a tool than a collectible. Kind of tired of seeing people just showing off their super expensive vintage guitars that rarely get played. Richie seems very down to earth, even though he is incredibly talented.
He also clearly knows to give fans what they want to see, case in point showing his much more recognizable trademark RG rather than the other neck-thru Ibanez
He's way too good to play with Poison...
18:10 I know that guitar from the Guitar World - May 1990. I learned so much from his 'Chop Shop' and 'Full Shred' monthly columns.
Very smooth English to my Japanese ears.I enjoy both watching and listenning even I have no huge interest in guitars.
誰損なんかしない最高のビデオ
1:45 N-Tune unfortunately went out of business long time ago. I still use one of their tuners, it's great.
Cool video. Nice guy. Awesome player.
Great stuff RK.. I'd love to know what guitar you used on the CD Project you did with Greg....peace
$500 for 10 years storage is a pretty great deal.
This man is my favorite guitar player 💕
wow it's the toy from "the cost 2006" on background!
Glad you got the PRS from your dad back
The tone Kotzen gets out of a telecaster transformed my opinions on them guitars altogether. Use to hate them but love them now. I would love to hear what Kotzen could muster from a 59 Les Paul
i have a 62 es 125 that wasmy dads that is still my favorite guitar
this guy is a great player
No wonder Richie likes the boat necks on his Fenders. The neck on that old Gibson L-1 looks like it's about 2" thick at the 12th fret!
What else can you say man... Ritchie is an incredible guitarist and equally an incredible man!
Fender comes to the studio and says "Oh man,we have to give you the real deal!"..."Ok let's call G&L.
Love Ritchie.
His room looks exactly like I would picture Scaramouche's house would look like after the book ends.
Holy crap! 10:44 , this is what you win when you beat the devil in a guitar duel, good job, Rich!
Uber kewl story about your Great Granfather's acoustic!
I've wanted that Fever Dream Ibanez since I got the May 1990 copy of Guitar World!
Amazing.
I remember watching the Poison concert DVD. Was very surprised to see Richie using a tele, his sound was monstrous! Hope to know his rig back then and how he got that big sound out of a tele
Telex sounded really huge for having single coils due to the tele pickup being if I remember correctly a stacked pickup
Also his Telecasters have super thick necks, that helps with tone
I absolutely love my Richie Kotzen Signature Series Telecaster crazy 12" radius baseball bat neck, not for the faint at heart, and DiMarzio Chopper T pickup she's a screamer
I guess we can say that he really likes Telecasters.
Ian Barcelos oh yeah! He certainly does. It’s a great axe , just the neck is too thick for a flawless comfortable playing
You can say he loves Hotrails also
@@Michael-jv2cn Choppers not Hot rails
And maple fretboards
yeah!
Legend!
LOVE guitars..LOVE Kotzen .. amén
That L-1 must be from around 1918. So it's around a 100 years old....
Sweet !!!
i had this RK tele but it was fuk...heavy
I sold her
Ritchie Kotzen's best guitar is his voice.
Dude can sing.
Proud owner of "one of those guitars painted like that"
Man I dig this guy, what a cool dude. I appreciate his awesome attitude. 😊👍
What about the super cool blue washed Ibanez Telecaster on the cover of the Electric Joy record? That was really sleek...
It was actually not an Ibanez : facebook.com/starfieldguitar/photos/a.10152705750315214/10152705750320214/?type=1&theater
The artist who did your Ibanez was Pedro Cruz... he painted a few guitars for stars for Ibanez ...
Your information is GOLD 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Wow. I think I had that very same horror movie book.
The signature strats are so classy. Sucks they don’t make them anymore
eBay has them from Japan.. i'd imagine Fender Japan makes them still.
Not sure if Fender Japan still 'make' them though as it is not listed on the Fender Japan artist models page (??) However, Richie's signature Strats are still available all over Tokyo. I was playing the (white) not long ago and saw the red finish in another store in Ikebukuro (Might have to make a video about these models). Love DiMarzio pick ups! Cheers. www.ikebe-gakki.com/web-ikebe/Fender-Made-in-Japan/artist.html#artist
Good video.
@ 20:53 I must be sentimental, because if my dad had bought me a guitar @ 15, I wouldn't ever give it up. He mentions he regretted selling it because it was one of the first made, and because he didn't sell it for very much. No mention of because Dad bought it for him. I must be sentimental. I would say, if the guy sold it back to him 10 years later for only $500 more than he sold it, then "The Guy" didn't sell it for very much. ;-) Seems like the Red Yamaha and Great Grandpa's Gibson mean more to him. Cool stuff.
Great but he did not even mention if that raspberry coloured piano is edible!... all that wait.. :(
The Gibson... from your great grandfather from Florence Italy...??? So you have some italian 🇮🇹 blood. Good to know. Yeah!
the best guitar was ibanez richie kotzen custom RG
What else can you say - thank you for everything Ritchie - thank you...
7:02 i put DiMarzio pick ups in it , because I'm a man
Hi Rithie it was nice to see this video , I am a friend of Scott Loyd I would come see you Scott ,Brian and Danny every Friday and Saturday night in Reading at the Silo hope your doing well! Derek White.
I am a 51 year old musician/ songwriter ( amateur) and I just recently found out about Richie and all of his art, I am like what the fuck where have I been. I new some of the work but did not know who it was ( probably because I am busy being a dad for 20 years) but now!!!!...its so great I have (to me) a brand new artist with all these unbelievable new songs and Im just like freaking at his Voice, Songwriting ( Lyrics & Music Both), and Guitar Mastery. Its like a totally new artist to me that just surfaced and Im like so happy yet pissed a little that I did not discover him before...FUCK ME!! When I was searching around on youtube for great songwriting he came up...and Tears came to my eyes when I heard 2 songs and I was hooked.." End of Earth and Doin what the Devil Says to do....and by the way he was a missing link for me in my process in learning to sing....he made me see a certain aspect of vocal training that I was missing.....Anyway Thank You ...I live in Woodland Hills Richie lets hang!!
I own one of the black teles, great axe. Only 90 were made
Mr.BIGのfarewellで使っていた黒のストラトが凄くカッコ良くて期待したんだけど、
手放しちゃったのかなぁ…ちょい残念。
He says he has signature tele and Strats available but I don't see anything on Fenders site. Only available in Japan????
His Telecaster is on the Fenders website (I have seen the price cheaper though) - shop.fender.com/en-AU/electric-guitars/telecaster/richie-kotzen-telecaster/0255202532.html
But his signature strats are not, even on the Japan Fender website. However they are available all over Tokyo, I saw both the white/red finishes in Ikebukuro/Ochanomizu.I assume Fender Japan still make them (?) Cheers... www.ikebe-gakki.com/ec/pro/disp/1/406403

if remaining soundgarden ever do a tour they should draft this guy in.
Also who did the horror movie guitar first Richie or Kirk?
Was thinking that after listening to his new song with Adrian Smith.
PRSは昔の紹介動画でも見たことないなーと思ったらそんな逸話が!
ちなみになんで初めからシグネチャはジャパン製なんだろ
" I like to collect marionettes.....". Rock stars are hilarious 🤣
Why not play each with an AMP?
22:00.... therefore I'll never sell my Ibanez guitar and bass I got as a young teenager!
Philly sending love. ✌🏼🐞
Sub Indo Please
I remember buying Richie’s VHS guitar school and was blown away. Where the hell did that shredder go? 😳
