To be honest I never associated Timex with designs that could be described as classy but this one sure did catch my eye. If they keep it up they can become something like Tissot - a respected brand that isn't positioned as high-end but you don't feel cheated either.
Excellent review. I was disappointed after waiting for this in 38mm that no silver dial was offered but the grey looks very good. Please let me know if you’d like to sell it!
A detailed review on a watch I know nothing about, watch savvy collectors, aficionados, connoisseurs, enthusiasts and novices alike on the modern day Timex, came a long way since my first watch in 1966, keeps on growing into the 1980’s with analog, have one automatic, certainly a stunning watch review, you knew your stuff, hope you enjoyed wearing this watch.
@@mickeyromeo 66, sometimes 166, Liked to have bought Cleo a drink in the pub, used injection moulding to create the watch, in the 70’s worked for a firm that both used injection and blow moulding creating plastics, originally in the early days of TIMEX used stainless steel, not so now on the modern watch, where they were chrome plated. Best regards.
@@JustWatches1 Never really be a connection with the past, as TIMEX last had mechanical watches in the 1980’s, if anything’s, a clean break with new technology away from the past.
I own and really like this watch. Mine is not loud. Elegant dial, interesting case design, hackable, great size and very accurate. I changed out the strap as it did not work with this design.
I think the price is on point for what you get. Best watch Timex has made in a while and I would love to have the blue dial. Hodinki has all colors in stock right now if anyone is looking.
Strong offering from Timex. They perfectly succeeded where AP failed in designing a modern and great looking case. Dimensions are perfect for a dress watch, interesting dial and yes, maybe the strap has to be changed for a nice leather one for improved looks, but the rubber one will come in handy in summer months. Nothing against this Citizen movement, just surprised that there is no hard point when you fully wind it, when you really feel it on a ETA one. Not a problem, just saying.
Yes, the strap will definitely be nice in summer, and it is quite comfortable as well! Would be amazing if they put an ETA in this, ha! I never noticed the hand winding resistance, but I tend not to fully wind watches, just enough tot get them going.
It looks amazing thank you for the impeccable review. I’m one that is very bothered by the noise of the movement. I don’t know if it’s something common but my watch with 8215 is crazy loud. I’m surprised that this “superior.” movement also have this problem. I wonder now if I should buy a watch with any movement from this manufacturer. Such a bad thing to have in a watch at this price.
Yes, it is a known issue in all of the Miyota 9000 series movements. Depending on the case, it can be more or less audible. Other than that, it is a great movement.
As someone who never owned an automatic watch, how loud of a rotor noise are we talking about? Similar volume as a loud quartz watch ticks? Louder? Quieter?
It is just a bit of a whirl noise, and only really happens when you move a certain way. Maybe on part with the volume of a loud quartz tick but a completely different type of sound. Hard to explain! :)
What a lucky bastard to manage to buy with 30%discount. I have been throwing all kinds of discount codes at the watch but none applies. Guess they figured that price was just... ~ *chefs kiss*
I can’t understand the criticism about the 50M water resistance, what do you gain by having more water resistance in a dress watch? This is unique in the case there isn’t anything like it this price point, I hope it come back in stock.
You aren't wrong. I just think this watch is very versatile and you could wear it in almost any situation and would like the WR for that reason. Thanks for watching and commenting :)
It is a different noise than you would find on a Seiko model. It is more of a whoosh top spinning sound that only occurs when you move your wrist just right.
That's a great watch. There's a few tiny misses, as you pointed out. For me, however, the big no is the fake ruby on the dial. It looks cheesy to me. Timex should've used another, more noble material.
It's fairly dressy, so I wouldn't complain too much about the 50m WR. It's not something like a filed watch, which in my opinion ought to have at least 100m. I have a few Seiko 5s that are pretty dressy, but they only have 30m WR. I wish they had 50.
Traska, Smiths, Axios and a ton of other brands sell watches with that movement for $500 or more so I think the price is on point. You get an Original Design from a well known brand with a movement I would take over the ETA movements at that price.
Man, What have they done? Such a beauty! Way, to go Timex!
Agree, more like this please Timex!
I have this watch, I absolutely love what Timex pulled off here. Definitely staying in my collection.
It’s the best watch Timex makes imho
To be honest I never associated Timex with designs that could be described as classy but this one sure did catch my eye. If they keep it up they can become something like Tissot - a respected brand that isn't positioned as high-end but you don't feel cheated either.
this is their best designed watch by far. They actually just made a new version but it is pricey!!
Excellent review. I was disappointed after waiting for this in 38mm that no silver dial was offered but the grey looks very good. Please let me know if you’d like to sell it!

how old are you? What was Cleopatra like?
Yes, I love the connection to the past that Timex brings, and this watch especially is the best watch Timex makes right now.

Oh, thank you for the tip. I didn't think to look there!
I can’t wait to buy this watch I think it’s a high point in Timex’s long history.
It is hands down the best watch Timex makes.

Thank you for your review mate. Interesting channel. An affordable watches review
Most welcome and thank you for watching :)
Excellent review !
Very attractive watch too , I hope Timex will give the saphir crystal to the bigger model too.
Yes, that would be great to see!

I got so lucky, I was shocked it worked!
Very interesting watch from Timex and great review thanks.
Agree, and thank you for watching :)
wow this is unspected look from timez. Super nice
Thank you 😊
Because Italian designer. You can see the classy and innovative style is there
I’m surprised the discount coupon worked. Any coupon I try to use from Timex never applies to these S1 watches. Lucky.
Indeed, I was also surprised when he told me.

Can you elaborate on the how noisey the rotor is? Can you compare it to any other watch? I own some Seiko 5s and an SKX007J1 for example.
It is a different noise than you would find on a Seiko model. It is more of a whoosh top spinning sound that only occurs when you move your wrist just right.
I feel the watch so much more high quality with that rotor
Very much agree. All of the small details on this watch really add up!
Is that stone red or purple, to me on camera it looks purple in every video and picture I've seen.
More purple than red to me in person.
@@JustWatches1 Thanks for the reply! I ended up buying one of the black ones during their most recent sale.

Yes, when I thought it was part of the movement I thought it was more interesting, but I don't think it is so it is sort of a strange choice.
Beautiful and original case design. They forgot however to taper the strap to 16 mm. Would be more elegant for a dress watch
Yes, a taper on the strap would be nice. The strap in general is very strange on this one.
That 50m is also a bit disappointing. They should make that crown screw-down and a give it a 100m water resistance.
Signore Galli, mi senti???
If they do that and change the strap, I'll buy one
Nice find. Thanks for sharing.
No problem, thank you for watching :)
👍👍👍different and interesting...

That is a fair point, and I have never really water damaged a watch before.
funny i love the bracelet =)
Yes, it is a bit different, but very interesting!
My name is Giovanni Giorgio, but everybody calls me... Giorgio
😆
My only complaint would be that it does not come with a genuine leather band option.
Agree, this band seems so weird for this one!
Nice looking watch but its accuracy is just not good enough
Fair enough! Thanks for watching!
I may have to break up with my Casio.
LOL!
$450 for a Miyota. Gunter does not approve.
I see this is reflected in the review. That's getting competitive for 325ish

Maybe not Valuetown, but an outlying suburb.
