I have this watch. I have never seen such a beautiful case on a watch ever. It really stands out in a world of watches where the case is exactly the same.
Hi Chris. I ordered this watch on the introduction date and agree with your review (except the strap, I detest it) but there seems to be some manufacturing issues Timex has with this watch line. I had a fit getting one that didn't have dust/debris on the dial and a bent winding stem. Regarding the price though I was able to get coupons to work on this watch (but the 40mm version still won't take coupons) so you can get this watch for a pretty good price. The first one I ordered had a big fleck of what looked like either a small food crumb or something from, um, someone's scalp. It was moving around as I'd wear the watch and the winding stem was bent since the crown would wobble while winding. Timex won't replace a defective watch so you need to return for a refund and reorder. So I reordered, the 2nd watch had a bent stem and would lose 20 sec/day. There was also a big lint piece stuck between the crystal and the bezel edge, it was brazenly easy to see. And the movement had to be defective since it would take 15-20 crown turns and some shaking to get it going, other Miyota 9xxx powered watches I own only took 5 or so turns of the crown to get it going or a small shake of the watch. I ordered a 3rd one and it seems to be OK though. But, I can see a few specks of dust on the rotor and some strange looking dried liquid streaks on the movement in a couple of places but the movement keeps good time (around -2 sec/day) and only takes a couple of shakes to get started. I noticed with all 3 watches that the hour hand won't hit the marker until 3 min. past the hour. The 40mm hits it spot on but then again I see similar from Swiss watches, the hour hand won't hit the mark until 2-3 min. past the hour. I returned the first two watches 3 weeks ago and am still waiting for refunds. Cutomer service does respond to emails but it can take several days to get a response and their phone lines appear to be down for over a month now.
I honestly think for Timex to be in this price range they need to come up with a new brand, in the same way Honda has Acura and Toyota has Lexus. No way can they keep the Timex name and charge this price. The case and dial are awesome. They have what it takes for sure.
I love this watch so much. The sapphire should have been there from day one for the price asked. $450 isn't terrible, however, I would have already bought one if it were priced at $389. Thumbs up for the smaller size as well.
Got to give Timex props here. Made the right improvements without raising the price. While I loved the original iteration...this new version makes me really want one.
I got one of these near Christmas, I love it ! It’s my first automatic watch and I wear it daily. It’s holding up very very well and looks like new still thanks to that sapphire crystal. Mine is also seams very accurate, still minute accurate after a week or so.
In my opinion you just bought the only watch worth buying from Timex! I’m OK with the price, But I agree, at 399 they would sell by the boatload! Thanks Chris
I have the 41 mm in blue. These are definitely a great watch. Pretty versatile too, you can dress it up or down. I agree they should have gone for sapphire cystals from the start, particularly for the asking price. I was able to get mine during a sale with an additional coupon code as well, and well Timex always has sales, although these watches do sell out from time to time. So timing is everything. I'm very happy with mine. I hope these continue to sell well and Timex gets the message. This green dial is something I would consider adding despite already having the 41 for the right price, so I'll keep an eye on sales. That's the key to Timex I find.
Nice looking watch but the 38 and 41 mm versions are £425 here in the UK (or $575) which for me is a bit too pricey for a Timex, given what else is available for that price.
I'd love the case in titanium with quartz movement and solar electric blue dial. With shark teeth lumed and indiglow with hidden electric bolts the light up at night with indiglue...
Love the upgraded features maybe timex is starting to listen. $400- $500 is common for many Miyota 9039/ 9015 for microbrand offerings. I love this design and Italian flair on the case and open ruby heart. Thanks for presentation I will definitely pick this one up.
I bought it after seeing a review, I couldn't find one locally so I almost passed on it but I ordered one with some other stuff to have the mandatory 100$+ free shipping, best decision this year I'm seriously loving it as much as any other watches I have worth 10x, it's got lot of personality without any sign of cheapness, especially on a nice rich green teju quick release... I must add I bought this as a beater but I'm very careful when I'm wearing it 😂
Thanks, great review... I was looking at this watch when they launched it and I liked it. As you said, the problem is the price. A lot of competition at that price point. I know that it's not exactly the same, but the Orient Bambino undercuts it badly (and brutally wins). Of course, this is just my opinion. They will sell nicely once they will go for 40-50% off.
@@Someothername2134 I agree. I've been shopping around for the perfect first mechanical watch for my tomboy girlfriend, and the Bambino was quickly dismissed, despite being a nice watch. Leather's not allowed here, and a display caseback was necessary for a firsty. The design decisions on the S1 are elaborate.
Great video bro! I just did a review on the the Stone Grey variant and I had a love hate relationship with mine. Mine had some QC issues but that case is so damn good!! This green variant looks awesome also! PS. I also hate! That crystal lol
This really is an awesome watch design. I am a Seiko guy, and love Seiko's designs, especially their case shapes. This watch really holds its own. I actually don't like watch straps that taper. I only like it when a dressy strap tapers. Any toolish strap looks better with no taper.
I've seen you and a few other youtubers comment on not liking straps that don't taper. Why is that? I don't care myself if it does or doesn't taper, but I can't figure out why people do. It's interesting to me when people point out that detail.
Hi Chris, I was very close to pull the trigger on this model. There where only two watches left with the green dial. And with a 15% discount the price isn’t that sporty anymore. But - I’ve promised to myself not to buy any cheaper watch I like at a glance. I like the Timex a lot. And its milled case is very special. The green dial is the best looking option IMHO. For me it’s not a dress watch per definition. With the rubber or silicone strap it is more an every day watch. Maybe even a kind of sport watch. Working from home for the last two years now, I’m leaning more towards sportier watches because I don’t wear suits anymore. I wish this watch would have a better lume and 100m of water resistant. Best regards, Claus
Great Job 👏.. I’m really enjoying your channel… been watching a bunch. I like what Timex did. I think the price is ok .. I think I sit with you on all subjects except the tapered strap thing 😂 Great Job! Very cool watch I might buy!
Beautiful watch. I had to exercise a lot of self-control not to jump on Timex on-line shop waiving my Visa card 😂 Timex design team has brilliantly succeeded where Audemars Piguet failed with the very forgettable Code 11:59. Timex are rubbing it into their face.
Great looking watch, but that's pretty pricy for something with Timex on the dial. Re: Hoodinki - is it me, or are they getting sketchier by the day? Excellent review and pretty watch, just not for the price.
Does this still have a really loud rotor noise? I have the original S1 and the rotor noise is extremely loud to the point where I don't wear it that often.
Ive managed to cop the limited gold edition for 380£ . Is that a good deal ? I'm also wondering if there are only 500 pieces and it was released quite a while ago why is it still in stock ? p.s. havent recieved it yet just made the purchase ?
Yeah you can get a Hamilton but the reason you buy a Hamilton is for brand heritage so you could easily argue the same for this watch AND you get a better looking watch in this instance.
My opinion is this watch worth the $450. It is a freaking TIMEX but it is a custom watch. All detail looks familar but they are obviously different. They are custom designed, new, and very interesting. I think the $450 shows the confidence, and it shows the class of what a custom waych should be. 38mm is good for normal wrist, even more classic.
It’s a good watch. A good overall product from Timex. But Timex has such a long history….how can we know or even ask if it’s, “the best Timex ever”? We don’t go around asking each other if the globe master is the, “best Omega ever.” Especially when saying it’s overpriced….😂
Wonder how can you call "dress watch" a watch with a rubber/silicone/wtf strap? Like the dial and the case shape, plus the 9039 mvmt, but that strap makes it look like a smart watch. And i'm pretty sure the "keeper" stripe will not work well either. PS Wonder too how many young designers cry for their "stolen" designs by Galli, he's just the top of the pyramid taking the glory... Classic...pity!
Do what I did, put it on a brown leather strap. Mine's on a RIOS Louisiana mahogany colored strap, it looks like a classy dress watch with the combo. As for the stripe keeper does work, I wore my 40mm and 38mm S1's on the supplied rubber strap until the replacement leather straps came in.
This Watch its really nice, minimalistic & great design... unfortunately it’s totally ruined by the very noise movement/ rotor. Sorry Timex, but this is not acceptable.
*Fingers pointing out details and features are not effective, hands & parts of them cover up too much of the watch. Better for viewers for the reviewer to use a pencil or a pen; keep hand/fingers away from the watch case.*
thanks for pointing out the tweaks. and Bulova, look, a 900 series. you can do it too!
Bulova: OF COURSE MATE WE LISTENED AND HERE YOU HAVE YOUR MIYOTA 8215

This has to be my favorite case design on the market currently
A very attractive, clean design. Would look better with a nice leather strap. Glad to see Timex improving their product line.
Timex really putting their back into doing some interesting for a while now - more power to them!
Got to give Timex props here. Made the right improvements without raising the price. While I loved the original iteration...this new version makes me really want one.
These are an absolute hidden gem - so classic yet intuitive, with design influence. These will take off in the next couple of years for sure.

I dig this…the ruby just hanging out on the dial looks cool.
I can't believe it's a Timex! Really good looking watch.

I love the green. That is a very beautiful watch!!!
Great review and footage. Will try to convince myself to get one.
Thanks Chris !
I'm a big fan of this watch myself .
I'm thinking it is a little high but a very nice watch.

The bambino has as plain of a dial and case as you can get. It is fine for its price, but nowhere near the design, fit, and finish of the S1.
@@Someothername2134 I agree. I've been shopping around for the perfect first mechanical watch for my tomboy girlfriend, and the Bambino was quickly dismissed, despite being a nice watch. I am typically not a fan of green dials but I have to say, they did an excellent job with this one

Pretty sure I'm getting the Arctic Grey version this year. Awesome stuff

LIKE THE WATCH ALOT....love it at $350

Nice looking Timex there.
Love this watch, in blue, but I wish the lug width was 20mm.

why usa does not make a robust simple economical movement of its own?
Beautiful watch. I had to exercise a lot of self-control not to jump on Timex on-line shop waiving my Visa card 😂

Re: Hoodinki - is it me, or are they getting sketchier by the day?
Excellent review and pretty watch, just not for the price.
At that price range you're right. Timex is trying to do a Seiko move. Will they succeed?
Does this still have a really loud rotor noise? I have the original S1 and the rotor noise is extremely loud to the point where I don't wear it that often.
It's a little quieter than the original S1 due to the sapphire.
Very nice watch and review👌👌, sadly its out of stock, 38 and 41mm 🙄
Great watch
Yep. This is a nice looking watch. Only timex I’d consider…
Ive managed to cop the limited gold edition for 380£ . Is that a good deal ? I'm also wondering if there are only 500 pieces and it was released quite a while ago why is it still in stock ? p.s. havent recieved it yet just made the purchase ?
Nice Watch ... I like it a lot. But I'd buy It; if it was less expensive.
A flipping timex has the 9000 series yet Bulova Still don't use it?! Come on!!!
$450 is $100 dollars more than i would pay for this watch
Beautiful
Is the rotar noisy?
Hi Chris, I paid $300 with coupons for the same watch.
Not bad looking but agree a nice boxed Chrystal would be much nicer and the red ruby needs to go! But still $450 is in my opinion much much to much
Not bad for the price. But i feel they could go a bit cheaper. under $359 should be a steal. Thats where i stand.
Yeah you can get a Hamilton but the reason you buy a Hamilton is for brand heritage so you could easily argue the same for this watch AND you get a better looking watch in this instance.

Great looking watch. But over priced. But a fair deal, just in the high end.
Yeah, you can get a Hamilton, but it won't look like this. I don't see any issue paying $450 for this if you like the style.
Wonder how can you call "dress watch" a watch with a rubber/silicone/wtf strap? Like the dial and the case shape, plus the 9039 mvmt, but that strap makes it look like a smart watch. And i'm pretty sure the "keeper" stripe will not work well either.

Needs sapphire and lower price, but otherwise alright Timex
This Watch its really nice, minimalistic & great design... unfortunately it’s totally ruined by the very noise movement/ rotor. Sorry Timex, but this is not acceptable.
I really don't know like that strap . Just better get a Swatch P51
For that kind of money, they should also include a good quality stainless bracelet. A cheap rubber strap on a dress watch? 🙄
$350 would be a great price.
I would purchase this watch at $199.90. At the current price, it's too much money
*Fingers pointing out details and features are not effective, hands & parts of them cover up too much of the watch. Better for viewers for the reviewer to use a pencil or a pen; keep hand/fingers away from the watch case.*
The "jewel" looks totally out of place.
R U bidding me ? The best part of $500 4 total boredomsville. Why would anyone bother? And its green FFS?!?! Baffled why anyone wud buy it.
Nice looking, not worth $450

No
Yeah a watch that tells time is useless!
@@gunot5407 everyone's taste differs.. every watch tells time.. but some are more useful with date and day complications.🤷
