The Casio Duro is my cheapest and the most worn watch I own. Great for an everyday beater watch with very good WR, decent time accuracy, and with the 22mm lug width, it accepts a huge variety of straps. This beater can even be found for as little as $39 during the holiday sales.

I have the same blue Casio Duro. I put a a domed sapphire crystal, Strapco mash stainless steel bracelet on it and did a hydro mod to it (filled interior with silicone oil). Amazing watch with all the upgrades around a hundred dollars. It looks really great for the price. It’s my only quartz watch, but I have really enjoyed it. I wear it almost every weekend working around the house or taking my kids to the water park. Really durable watch that looks nice too.
I have two Seiko 5s. I love them - durable, good looking, self winding. All of my recent watch purchases are self winding mechanical watches. I don’t have to spend $15-20 each year or two for a battery or be on a trip or be off in the wilds for a week or two and the quartz watch suddenly starts losing time.
I have one, just do not drop them on a tiled floor. I dropped it once in the bathroom taking it off, and it stopped working. Well technically it still works but it doesn't tell the right time anymore.
I bought a Citizen Chandler 2 years ago for around $90. I was completely underwhelmed when I opened the box. It is now my favorite daily driver. Bullet proof, good size, a little small but in a retro way. Get it while you still can. The bargains are out there.
Glad you mentioned the Citizens Eco-Drive watches. I had a dozen different Timex Weekender watches that I got rid of because I was constantly changing batteries. I hate changing watch batteries. I love the Eco-Drive watches. I keep them on a window sill so they're always fully charged.
I know it's kind of an unpopular opinion, but for 150 (and slightly above), I always recommend Seiko's SSB line of entry-level Quartz chronographs. Playful designs, cleverly implemented complications and decent bracelets. Also, they're built to last and basically indestructable. I know, you can get a very similar level of quality for less money from Casio's Edifice line, but I just think Seiko is a tiny bit more upper class overall!
Casio Edifice EFS - s500db-1bVCR. All stainless steel case and bracelet. Sapphire crystal. 100 m wr. Solar tough. Japanese quartz movement. $99 on clearance at Walmart right now 🤯 I picked up two
I set the time on my new Amphibia to my computers clock 2 weeks ago and its -1 second from that now I am truly worried surely they aren't all this accurate and will get worse over time
@@RaphaelRousseau Thanks for the reply. I read a comment saying that when a Vostok goes in for service its cheaper to replace the movement than work on the movement itself, fair enough! Probably cheaper just to buy a new watch or work on it yourself than get a service! I was looking at the SKX but chose the Vostok because you can't walk into a store and buy it where I'm from. Lucky I didn't see the Tissot PRX Auto before I baught this, what a watch! Enjoy.
Perhaps, but the Komandirskie pre-dates it. The newer ones are better spec-ed. My K-65 (Komandirskie 650539) GMT, for example. Even the 24-hr bezel is in stainless. I also have an Amphibia Scuba Dude. Provided they're worn daily they keep -20 to +60 sec.
🤗 This is so crazy Teddy. Before i go any further i just want you to know you are what a true watch enthusiast should be. Your so straight forward and you have such an admiration and appreciation for the history, all genres and you see the magic of all time pieces from entry level to the high end luxury. You are a true connoisseur in this beautiful, remarkable world we are so fond of "Watches". But when you brought up the g shock DW9052 lol out of the sea of g-shocks you paid homage to im pretty sure the very first watch that i ever bought for myself i think i bought it at the NAVY Exchange in North Island California my first duty station. I just took it out of my watch box. The original strap has long since seen its demise i have it on a tan nato strap with leather accents. It needs a battery and im thinking about getting the original strap for it. Looking forward to getting it back on the wrist. Thanks for all you do. Keep up the good work. George 🦎
I have been wearing that exact Citizen Chandler almost everyday for close to 10 years now. I liked the smaller size of it. I bought it when i went in the army and its stuck with me since. It can take quite the beating. Case and crystal full of dents and scratches since i work with my hands a lot. Never had an issue. Swimming, low temps, high temps never lost a beat. I have had it on leather straps and multiple natos, currently on a black one. I have a few vintage manual and autos in my collection but this is an everyday champ.
I really enjoy these videos. Helps people like myself start down the road of watch collecting. My first two watch purchases were the Timex 41mm Navi XL auto and the Seiko 5 SBSA013 with the green dial. Now looking to move into Tissot powermatic 80 with the blue dial. Thanks again.
Id love a video looking at some of the homage watches available from China. Pagani Design i think is the best value under $150. Excellent finishing, sapphire crystal, screw down crown, solid feel, some mechanical. Sure they just copy rolex and other brands, but best value for the money.
The first g shock I got myself was a GA-B2100. I latter got a metal case and 22mm strap adapters. Threw a leather strap on it and its amazing. Looks really sharp and has tons of useful features. I keep getting other watches but go right back to it. 10/10 recommend
Avi-8 flyboy engineer. Great pilot watch for a very reasonable price ( I got mine for 160 dollars) It has nice finishing and a beautiful and unique dial. Bracelet is great for the price and the automatic movement is fairly precise. It has an engraving of a fighter pilot on the case back which I love. All in all it’s a great watch for the price for people who love aviation.
I really appreciate you reviewing these entry level good watches with extremely affordable price tags every can pay. I would actually start a new collection with some of these.
My Nixon Regulus is 2 years old now and is truly commendable. Affordable at under $150 for multiple case color and display variants. 150m water resistance. Surprisingly light and comfortable for the size. Multiple functions and dual time capability. And most importantly - durable. I’ve logged with this thing, swam with it, done oil changes. A great beater/casual watch. Can’t say enough about it. Edit: I’ll mail mine to you Teddy, for your review. Send it back when you’re done…
Huge fan of this channel and love the content. I actually loved your video on the Vostok that you did, I had no idea that this company existed in Russia. My dad's side of the family are all Tatars, living in Kazan, Bugulma and of course Chistopol. Turns out some of the older generation in our family actually worked at the Vostok factory. Thanks to these videos I'll definitely be going for a visit to this watchmaker. Let me know if you want some souvenirs haha
If you want the Vostok watch to run properly though, go to a jeweler that knows about watches and have them tinker with the movement so that it is way more accurate. Vostok will sometimes lose up to 3 minutes per day.
If you don't mind waiting on shipping from china, cadisen makes great value pieces. Decent designs (some better than others....), Seiko or miyota automatic movements and sapphire crystals. Under 100 bucks.
I’ve got 3 Duro’s and they probably won’t be the last. I think my next one is going to be Citizen Promaster Diver. That will be my first “real” watch I think. Really dig the Eco Drive concept
I have a Citizen e870 with EcoDrive. It was sitting in a drawer for about 3 years. Pulled it out recently, let it sit in the sun for a few days, and it started right back up. But it doesn't have a sweeping second hand, and I love that about automatic watches
I got my first automatic watch just over a week now. I got an orient mako ii and I love it so much more charm when you buy a mechanical watch over a quartz watch
I wasn't at all into buying watches when I saw some other watch channels seeing the prices. After viewing your channel I've realized anyone can really get into buying good quality watches if you just do your research and understanding what it is your buying.
I love my DOXAs. My first Doxa for 11 years. My second Doxa for 5 years. My third Doxa for 2 months. I have a Seiko 5 for 2 years. And almost all in modern vintages, except my Doxa Sub 200 is a diver watch.
I got the seiko 5 , and orient mako 1 few years back. Best value for the bang of your bucks. These are the watches you can wear daily and get apprised by others who know watches.
ive owned that green seiko 5 since 2012. its a nice watch, still use it to this day. its a bit too fast now, advancing 2 min a day but that doesnt keep me from using it
I have always been fascinated by watches but never seriously. Found this channel and holy shit, this is so great! Loving learning automatic vs quartz, expensive vs affordable, etc etc etc!!! Started looking for quality low-end (< $300) to start a collection. So fun! These are pieces of art - all of them. Thanks.
I have a modded a snk800 to have the dive face of a skx009, a domed sapphire face, with some other hands and a woven strap. Sure it looses about a minute a day. I love it. The dive face is super readable, the strap is comfortable, because of no fancy bezel it is low profile and doesn’t catch on my clothes or jam into the back of my hand. It has enough water resistance for me to just ware it. The sapphire crystal looks perfect and won’t scratch. And yet it is a simple snk800 at hart. I kinda want to collect a few more watches but I know I am a one watch guy. My first watch I got at 12 lasted 21 years of everyday use.
Another great video Teddy! Can you please explain the purpose of an inexpensive automatic watch? All automatics will need servicing, but the cost is usually going to be at or above the price of the watch in this range. Are they for introducing the concept of an automatic watch or are they built more robustly than I think they are and rarely need servicing?
Learn to tinker with them yourself. Really, anything below an elaboré grade eta 2824-2 a complete movement overhaul will be cheaper than servicing. But some people like having something mechanical on their wrist and don't have a lot of money. That aside, there are hundreds of thousands of vintage mechanical watches out there with the same dilemma. Practically, automatics are altogether inferior to quartz. But then, clock collecting isn't a practical hobby is it. Cheap autos also tend to have long service intervals, Vostok boasts 10 years, Seikos from 6-8.
Well I'd say something similar to the Swatch is the M-Watch WYA.38310.RB. I have both watches and although the M-Watch isn't mechanical, it's a pretty good deal for a swiss watch. Plus I just recently got into watches so I still need to learn a lot more before being able to judge which is better.
i can’t find that vostok amphibia video now but i just wanted to say thank you Teddy. i went ahead and bought the exact same model. its my first purchase of a mechanical watch and i am glad i found that video you did about it. i realise now its the perfect first mechanical watch i could get to start my journey. thanks Teddy! and you got good taste too, browsing through their models, this was actually the best looking one, at least for my taste.
I checked out the Swatch Sistem 51 in navy blue and it looks super cool and fun to wear! Teddy you always have awesome watch propositions and appreciate your enthusiasm you put in what you do! Keep up the good work 👍 😃
I treated myself to a low end 150 buck Seiko Solar years back and Wow. Utterly maintenance free and tough as nails. I'm thinking of a 400dollar Seiko Solar Coutura now. Totally worth it.
Just want to say great video. I don't play in the same league as Teddy but I still view and enjoy many of your You Tube videos. This also shows that your knowledge of watches is not narrow at all. Well done.
As for a G-Shock I can honestly recommend the G-7700-1ER. Smaller than most G-Shocks. Nice sports functions (laps/splits memory, 1/1000 s stopwatch, 200M resist). As for that Braun.. I hate the second hand is not indexed with the seconds markings.
Thanks for covering these. You put the Vostok on my radar and I couldn’t be more happy about that! As a watch nerd that just so happens to be self-learning to speak Russian, it’s awesome to find a Russian watch brand with credibility to explore! 🙌🏾 🌊
nice picks. Eye candy to watch your videos. Nice. I would say, as I always say - try Casio F91w and MQ24, they are my absolute favorites. Cheap does not mean bad. They are a lot of fun.
I have the Citizen eco drive shown in the video , orr at least it looks identical, though the one shown might be a newer moderl because the one I have is still going strong as my daily wear after 17 years without a change of battery or service. i have worn out three straps. They are on sale in the UK from Argos for £99.00 which is about $114.00. Not a particulary flashy watch, but good value for money and obviously ultra reliable. The only negative thiing I can say about it is it doesn't have a saphire crystal, but for £99.00 I don't think you can complain about that too much.
Chandler is a great watch. I wear it doing any active stuff, hiking, paddle boarding, yardwork, never gets in the way due to its small size and is very durable. Wished I had it when I was deployed to Iraq years ago.
I appreciate you giving entry level, low cost watches a thorough analysis and appreciation for exactly what they are. Finding real value for money is a worthy endeavor. It is the analytic process that trains the mind to think critically and frankly without pretense towards making the best decisions. Well done.
I was given a Concepts watch as a gift. I used it for work in the Navy for two years before the "stainless" steel finish on the case started to corrode from sweat and sea water.
Almost 70 years old and I'm one of Teddy's biggest fans .

@@ncode03 Bouncing off tile is not good for many things.
I have the military SNK800. Had it for years and its taken quite a beating and still keeps on going. Great watch.
$99 on clearance at Walmart right now 🤯 I picked up two
Turned 68 yesterday bought my first watch 47 years ago . Thanks Teddy 🙏
The Amphibia is the best alternative to get an automatic movement, a huge history and a piece of great engineering.
I set the time on my new Amphibia to my computers clock 2 weeks ago and its -1 second from that now
I am truly worried surely they aren't all this accurate and will get worse over time
@@tigercs1, it's amazingly accurate! Anyway, you'll be able to swap the movement whenever it becomes really bad at time keeping... easy & affordable!

I recently got a Casio Duro in black and it's one of the best purchases I've made
I have been wearing that exact Citizen Chandler almost everyday for close to 10 years now.
Is it the eco drive and has it got a screw down crown
@@jamesmurphy9845Yes to Eco drive and no to screwdown crown.
@@TheSentinelOne thank you 🙏
I really enjoy these videos.
These are the affordable watches for working class men i like your style man thankyou
I think invicta pro diver should be in this list full solid stainless steel case and bracelet nh35 mechanism and 200 meters of water resistance
Vostok is garbage. Also buyng it you support putler's regime
I live in Brazil and I am waiting for my Vostok (my first automatic) to arrive. I have discovered it in your channel and felt in love .
dude i cant find it anywhere, where did u buy the vostok from
You could buy it from Menaron or eBay. Menaron is the most usual but doesn’t deliver to Brazil
@@jonatasfraga9293 i can't find this model on menaron
Bom dia Jônatas! Você no pediu no Meranom pelo frete DHL ou UPS? Foi taxado? Ou encontrou alguém no eBay?
If you don't mind waiting on shipping from china, cadisen makes great value pieces. Decent designs (some better than others....), Seiko or miyota automatic movements and sapphire crystals. Under 100 bucks.
My dady bought one NKUWAN and he loves it. It had been there for over 10 years when he went out with it.
Broke gang rise up
Not broke brother we have priorities
I’ve got 3 Duro’s and they probably won’t be the last. I think my next one is going to be Citizen Promaster Diver. That will be my first “real” watch I think. Really dig the Eco Drive concept
Get the ny0040 citizen promaster. Its amazing and auto for similar price to the eco drive!
@@ThePlaiibox Ok thx I will check it out
I have the Promaster Diver Titanium and I couldn’t be happier.
Got the Seiko SNXF05 following your advice! As my first automatic, I'm absolutely in love with it
I wasn't at all into buying watches when I saw some other watch channels seeing the prices.
These are the watches you can wear daily and get apprised by others who know watches.
under $150? Pagani design and other watches in Ali express, they come with Seiko NH35 with sapphire crystal
2 X Seiko 5s, automatics - you made me a Seiko fan - thanks!
I had ZERO clue about Braun's history. Not only was this video well timed for me, and of superb quality, I really learned a lot. New sub! Thanks!
ive owned that green seiko 5 since 2012. its a nice watch, still use it to this day. its a bit too fast now, advancing 2 min a day but that doesnt keep me from using it
I have a few of these, and to be honest they make it into my rotation almost as much as my watches that cost much more.
Honorable mention:
Seagull 1963
Steeldive 1970
Baltany Dirty Dozen
Escapement Time Flieger
Shanghai Diamond 8120
My experience with NKUWAN was fantastic. The watch arrived quickly and was exactly as described.
If you hurry right now you can get the Casio Duro in black at $43 on Amazon. Thats a insane deal!🙀
OUUUSH, under $150! That's tight! But fantastic pics Teddy. Particularly the Orient Mako II. Thanks for another faaaabulous video. ;)
Keep up the good work 👍 😃
cant be repaired, kind of a pain
Teddy you transformed me from watch enthusiast to watch collector
I treated myself to a low end 150 buck Seiko Solar years back and Wow. Utterly maintenance free and tough as nails. I'm thinking of a 400dollar Seiko Solar Coutura now. Totally worth it.
From the phillippines...biggest fan of teddy
Just want to say great video. I don't play in the same league as Teddy but I still view and enjoy many of your You Tube videos. This also shows that your knowledge of watches is not narrow at all. Well done.
I went to Vegas with some friends a month ago. They forced me to go watch shopping cuz they’re enthusiasts; by the end of the day I was hooked lol
Thank you guys so much for watch-ing
Finally the video i've been waiting for!
Possibly one my favorite videos of yours.
nice picks. Eye candy to watch your videos. Nice. I would say, as I always say - try Casio F91w and MQ24, they are my absolute favorites. Cheap does not mean bad. They are a lot of fun.
I bought a Casio duro black for 35 bucks during Black Friday … I love it more than some of my more expansive watches
Soon to be 73 years old…. Also a big fan.
Another great video thanks
What watch is he wearing in this video? Looks gorgeous
Perfect timing, my Vostok arrived in mail today!
Absolutely in love with the cyan coloured dial and silly looking bezel! 😅
Im tempted in getting one, they look corny but dripping with charm
Best watch reviewer on the net! Thx Teddy.
The Invicta Men's 8926OB Pro Diver watch is less than $80.00 us and I’ve had this watch for over 3 yrs now and it’s still going strong
I appreciate you giving entry level, low cost watches a thorough analysis and appreciation for exactly what they are. Finding real value for money is a worthy endeavor. It is the analytic process that trains the mind to think critically and frankly without pretense towards making the best decisions. Well done.
Collecting watches that are "entry level"(upto 500) sounds more fun than collecting watches that cost thousands.
Thanks for looking over this price range
I was given a Concepts watch as a gift. I used it for work in the Navy for two years before the "stainless" steel finish on the case started to corrode from sweat and sea water.
Thank you Teddy for making this!
Thanks again for another great video. I have a Sistem51 as part of my watch collection. Glad it made your list.
Unfortunately not, where I live...
1. Casio MDV-106 -> 95 USD where I live (mostly discontinued here)
2. G-shock dw9052 -> 110 USD (mostly discontinued here)
3. seiko snk805 - > 140 USD
4. seiko snfx05 -> 130 USD with a BIG discount
5. orient mako 2 -> 230 USD
Teddy, I can’t help but ask…have you recently shot a courier and are now in the possession of a platinum chip?
I just bought my blue casio duro and an aftermarket stainless mesh strap. My favourite new watch. Love it
