It's amazing to see your work for the first time today You have been an extraordinary inspiration to me in my time of need As a Chinese student, I am very fortunate to be exposed to such works and meticulous teaching But borders and languages make it difficult for me to learn you, so I guess I should give more
Thanks Jesse as always great tutorial!
Thanks sooo much for this! You are of huge value to the 3d community. I THANK YOU SIr!
thank you
Dude you are amazing
Outstanding explanation man. Fast pace and yet very clear. Very well done.
Thank you very much. More soon!!
Oh, wow! It's super cool !! Thanks!
Thank you
Realistic fire tutorial would be extremely helpful. Especially controlling the growth of fire on a plane. You know, like a room starts to burn, and fire kind of expands in the entire room bit by bit.
Thanks Jesse great again
Great tutorial! Subscribed :) Keep up good work ;)
Thank you!
ALWAYS GIVES BEST TUT OVER THE YOUTUPE ... THANKS TOO MUCH
Awesome!
Thank you Arshad
Thank u 4 ur work!
Thank you Sergey
Very impressive and very interesting
Thanks Jesse as always great tutorial .always hero
Glad it helped you
Awesome 👍!
Thank you Justin
Firstly..... Waoooo..... U r really quick with the content..... Interesting throughout the vid.
Keep up the good work..... N yes I am one of the many following u regularly.....
I appreciate that, thanks so much Mohammad
well explained
Awesome bro ur a great teacher
Thanks a lot!
Hi Jesse , thank you very much for this great lessons. can you till me what hardware you use?
you can make a tutorial about movable partitions
nice tuts, sir
Thanks 😊
Thanks! very very nice tutorial! but... can you help me?.... I need to make a footprints on the sand.... is this principle the same to do this?
Hi, I am following your tutorial from a while, can you make a tutorial on rocket smoke like a rocket launched from a plane and it chasing another plane. It would be great if you make one.
Deja vu
@@CGFUN829 yeah it's a meme about drifting
Hi. What's your computer configuration? And how to make it become sand because my Vray Camera placed near the wheel. Thanks
love the skill, but dont have time to master it
like your content
Once again, awesome tutorial and huuuuge thanks for that!
I especially liked how you used the wheel and the car body to just affect the smoke through a drag force effect.
I have a request for a future tutorial and please ignore if it doesn't make sense or takes too much work. You said that 6 hours of final simulation isn't that much. However before you even let it simulate for that long in final resolution you need to be sure everything is working as intended. I find it extremely time cosuming to do all the tests before letting it calculate the final sim. Especially if a certain change/event needs to be tuned in the middle of a longer simulation you still need to let it run from the beginning. I understand that you do the initial development and tests in lower resolution but even then it needs to be high enough to not only look too different and most importantly to not behave different in its physics. I would love to see a video covering that "behind the scenes development workflow" for both a smoke and liquid example. Something like simple timelapse of a whole session which you comment on after. That sort of thing.
You need to get a 2nd or even 3rd computer and just let the sims run while you do something else otherwise it'll drive you crazy waiting for everything. I often run the sims 5-10 times in lower-res before I run the high res sim, and even then I might have to re-run it a few times. I have my computers running all the time to get these tutorials out. No magic settings, it just takes time & is a game of patience.
Gotcha, thanks! Didn't expect you to have several PCs running in the BG but it makes sense seeing how quickly you get these done. @@RedefineFX
Ya I’ll make a video soon talking about being effective as an FX artist, hardware etc...
Why my smoke is not simulating after hitting simulation..... I mean that it's simulating but i can't see smoke
Really nice tutorial, I'm using it for my animation, thanks! I want to know how to render only the smoke in vray. Do I go with selected object?
You can get just the smoke with the Vray atmosphere render element
@@RedefineFX Thanks my friend
Awesome. But why don"t link container to the car? As I read in documentation phoenix allows you to do so. With motion inertia turned on
Sure, probably doable
smoke not emitting from polygon but from whole mesh, polygon system is not working , i am using 3ds max 2020
In regards to this tutorial, if I wanted to create skid marks in the dirt, any suggestions on how I can achieve those?
Look up the Vray distance texture
Amazing tutorial! I just have on question or issue. I only get dust when my cell size is 10 ish. When I go lower (or higher), it doesn't show anything. Any idea?
No idea that’s weird. Make sure you’re using newest Phoenix
@@RedefineFX Ok Will do! :) I think I know what my problem was. I did not have the "FireSmokeSim" selected haha :D
Hey thanks for the tutorial, im doing this on a car, but its not emitting since there is little space between the wheel and the car body. If i move it outside the car it starts emitting. Is there any option or value i can turn to fix this?
try increasing steps per frame and increasing resolution also. If none of that helps, you might have to move it a bit further away but it shouldn't be visible once there's a ton of smoke around the wheel?
Awesome tutorials, Jesse! I am creating a animation in which a truck is sliding around a corner of a mountain trail. The dirt on the trail is not as dry and dusty. Are there some specific settings you could suggest I adjust to create a bit less smoke/dust? Thanks in advance and keep up the great work!
Thank you. You can just lower the outgoing velocity to get less smoke.
@@RedefineFX Awesome! You the Man!
@@RedefineFX is the outgoing velocity something that can be animated? My vehicle will be starting at the top of a hill where its dry and dusty and ending at a creek which should be moist with no dust..
@@japyro83 Yes it can be animated.
Thanks for the tutorial. I used your project file and just hit the , I don't know why sometimes the smoke result doesn't show up?
Try turning off the gpu preview
@@RedefineFX thx.. btw here's my scene based on your tutorial. www.behance.net/gallery/78098741/Rally-Scene
Very cool thanks for sharing!
do you ever have problems with smoke sim not working after merging files together?
No but you have to make sure to possibly reconnect all sources and output path etc
Hi. I was wondering, can you just keyframe the grid container size?
No you should never change the size of the grid during simulation. You can turn on adaptive grid so it expands automatically
@@RedefineFX Thank you for your reply. How would you make something like a trebuchet launching a fireball to a far distance? I can only imagine the grid size would be super gigantic. Is that the way it is to do it?
7:16 I thought motion velocity is only for motion blur effect?
Different thing entirely
Jesse, I'm about to have a nervous breakdown, I'm on a major time crunch and I can't get this thing to work. I started out making my own setup following your videos and nothing was getting emitted that I could see. So I merged in all your phoenix objects from your scene and it still doesn't appear to be working. I will pay a little something (i'm pretty broke) if i can email you my scene to see if you can figure out what is going on. Please brother, im desperate.
OMG, by some divine guidance i switched to perspective mode instead of orthographic....its working fine. Oh dear God, thankyou!
when I use lower cell size to test my smoke everything is awesome ,but reduce the cell size 15 to 8 and go to final render ,smoke ratio its looks too big and too fast What is this problem?😭Hope to get your help
the look and behavior of your sim will change when you change the resolution. There's no way around this other than to tweak your settings again to look how you want at the higher res. You can start by lowering the time scale and massive vorticity a bit
@@RedefineFX 😀 thx
I'm getting error ' End of velocity channel data for resimulation! Stopping.' after enabling resimulation....
You need to output velocity in the grid channels
@@RedefineFX tysm for helping out !
I have a request pls make a wind tornado & stormy wave tutorial !
after the completion of it we just render it or anymore to do.could any one help it out.
I don't understand. Sure, you can render it but it's more about teaching you the technique to use in your own project.
@@RedefineFX yep, thank you.but my doubt is how do we get the video as u got like sand and render settings for video..finally thank you for your time.
cant find the project file for the drift
Some of the older project files are no longer available because I couldn’t keep up with updating them for newer Phoenix versions (which sim differently than 2 years ago)
Hi, where is Download project file link?
The project file no longer worked properly in new version of Phoenix so it’s removed. This tutorial is very old, sorry about that, but the technique is still valid in new version of you follow along
Download free project file/ WHERE?
no longer available
My machine decided to close Max once I hit render :D
Been there countless times
ok, but the more important question is: why are you using windows 7?
This tutorial is almost 5 years old and back then windows 10 was a broken mess and I refused to upgrade for the longest time. The more important question is, why are you so concerned...
@@RedefineFX i'm not concerned. it's just a long time ago i saw this UI.
btw great channel!
where are the maya tutorials?
There aren’t any. I’m a max guy.
usless tutorial ...requires lot of hard ware spec which not everyone had shiny head
That’s actually not true, you can do this on a very average PC but whatever excuse works for you is fine with me 😉
