    Hello Chaos! I have a question about blending this beach with an ocean displacement phoenix map. How will you blend this simulated part with the entire ocean?

    I tried to follow the same Tutorial in Maya: In Maya the Viewport previews look much worse. And the official Maya example scene isn't producing any foam at all and the water is looking somehow too "thick". Would be great if Maya would get the same attention. Thanks

      Hey, the example scene seems to be working correctly in here with the latest Phoenix. If you face any issues send an email to support@chaosgroup.com and we'll help :)

      The foam shows up at frame 70-80 so probably that's why you thought there is no foam.

    Anyone know how to make the waves smaller in height and still splash properly? Wave height adjustments does not work to get smaller scale. Lowering Wave force strength also dont work well. Setting the simulator scale down also has weird results.

    Nice simulation! Although for the big scenes - I am afraid the scene needs to be scaled down

      You can change the Rate of Change of the Ocean texture used for the Wave force. You can find more here - docs.chaosgroup.com/display/PHX4MAX/Ocean+Texture+%7C+PhoenixFDOceanTex

    what about particles underneath beach that was created initially? optimise that first...other than that great video :)

    • @OnyxLee
      @OnyxLee 8 років тому

      I don't know if making the ground mesh solid will help. It seems that you can force PFD not to create particles inside a mesh. But I'm not at my computer to test right now.

    • @SvetlinNikolovPhx
      @SvetlinNikolovPhx 8 років тому

      Yup, the ground mesh should better be closed.

    • @SvetlinNikolovPhx
      @SvetlinNikolovPhx 8 років тому +1

      If the mesh is Solid in its Phoenix props, particles won't enter it. Otherwise, particles and fire/smoke can pass through meshes. However, it's always better to use closed meshes, instead of curved or displaced planes, because Phoenix doesn't always work well with open geometry :)

    it's reaaaly slow. I dont get it .. you guys change parameters in real time almost and for me it takes about 1 hour to simulate 4 seconds ??

    bit of a necropost here but does anyone know how the rendered preview was done when the oceanTex was being seen ua-cam.com/video/6s_gozLTnZU/v-deo.html I assume it was a top down render after the sim? That isn't overly helpful but if there was a way to see the ocean tex and all the settings as a preview on the mesh BEFORE running a lengthy sim, that would be amazing.

    • @GeorgiZhekov
      @GeorgiZhekov 4 роки тому +1

      Yes, it was a top down render that was overlaid over the video. Checkout the Pure Ocean mode - this should give you a better idea of the Ocean Tex settings without having to simulate - ua-cam.com/video/DRI2fn8lVjs/v-deo.html

    Yea... this tutorial didn't work.. you just get a bland blue solid water when you render (V-ray as renderer)

      Huh. Ran into the same issue on my vray too. However when I use the ocean preset all the way to the right on the top bar, it does water just fine. Not sure what we did differently.

    An error occured and the application will now close.
    That's what I love about Max. I can work for a month with ZBRush and 3D-Coat and I barely ever have a crash. Then I try something as funny as ChasGroup plugin in Max. And it's freezing and crashing again and again and again. 3DS Max is junk. Not even worth the effort.
