What breaks my heart is seeing Phil go through so much as a man and still giving everything he had for this band. Through the pain he endured physically and mentally is unparalleled. So much respect for this man. RIP to Dime and Vinnie. The world will know no other band such as Pantera.

I'd say there were up there with late 80's Metallica but neither Pantera or Metallica could hold a candle to the beast that was Sepultura at the end of 96 just before Max left. I saw them twice in that final week, first at Manchester Apollo and later in London and the Manchester gig is still to this day the best show I've ever been too - even better than the Metallica show at the tiny Astoria II, just a few days before headlining Donington 95. But I miss Dime. Such a fun guy and while amazingly talented on guitar, he just let it rip and had fun with it.
I've had to do this kind of show. Not to the magnitude of attendance that this band has. But same style music. It can be killer on the voice even performing a few songs. Not to mention this singer has never been a strong singer anyways. Plus he's shitfaced.
I love Dime's back up vocals, I l geek every time! He looks like hes having so much fun, this is what life is really about. Dime knew that and he lived and loved every second of it. I never met him, but I have more respect and admiration for him than anyone I've ever met.

Seen all the big ones a few times back in the nineties but the one time I went to see Pantera in a sport hall in Ljubljana Slovenija was the most memorable I have to say. Pantera was a lot about Dimebag of course but that exploding powerful voice of Phil is just insane. Still getting a little wound up listening to these old songs
With the said....He's only playing a 2 note crunch. Dime was so good on guitar he could make 2 notes sound better than 90% of other seasoned guitarists playing all kinds of fancy technical stuff.

Kember Arena, a few months before Cliff was killed and getting high With System of a Down in 1999. I am not rubbing it in, dude, I am just saying it was a nice experience and those were few and far between because I live 150 miles from the nearest arena, which sucks.

Pantera was about going on stage and being as phenomenal a group as possible, just by their gift. You can focus on the culture part, but every position at this team is the best in the business. Drums? Bass? Dime? Are we kidding ourselves? The best thing you can teach your kids is that they were practiced, gifted and motivated talent. This is NOT drunk, crazy, random stuff. Every position on this team is an all-star in musical execution.
Is it just me or do American metal heads of the 90's seem way more badass and intense and moshing it up etc than they do today? Nowadays they just seem to stand there or text on their phones? What happened to the American metal head?
There is just more variety nowadays, alot more options to accurately express our emotions through. There are plenty of badass metal heads today, just harder to find because you have to go to smaller shows.
Because metal isn't what it used to be, don't get me wrong I am a diehard fan of bands like parkway drive and slipknot but they will never have the same contribution to the metal community as Pantera did.

Is it just me or do American metal heads of the 90's seem way more badass and intense and moshing it up etc than they do today? Nowadays they just seem to stand there or text on their phones? What happened to the American metal head?
Everything was better in the 90s music wise than today.
that's because they listen to bands like Avenged Sevenfold and Asking Alexandria lol
There is just more variety nowadays, alot more options to accurately express our emotions through. There are plenty of badass metal heads today, just harder to find because you have to go to smaller shows.
Because metal isn't what it used to be, don't get me wrong I am a diehard fan of bands like parkway drive and slipknot but they will never have the same contribution to the metal community as Pantera did.
