Pantera was before my time. To any of you fucks who went to their shows consider yourselves privileged, because this shit looks as perfect as a metal show can get. Legendary band who has it down on lock, the crowd is eating the shit up, the stage looks amazing etc. A brief and rare moment in time when Metal bands were on the top and amazing things happened.

I'd say there were up there with late 80's Metallica but neither Pantera or Metallica could hold a candle to the beast that was Sepultura at the end of 96 just before Max left. I saw them twice in that final week, first at Manchester Apollo and later in London and the Manchester gig is still to this day the best show I've ever been too - even better than the Metallica show at the tiny Astoria II, just a few days before headlining Donington 95.
But I miss Dime. Such a fun guy and while amazingly talented on guitar, he just let it rip and had fun with it.

He was one of the best and as a guitarist I observe his playing as other virtuosos like eddie van halen or john petrucci or yngwie malmsteen sorry im rambling im pretty drunk

I was blessed to get to see Pantera at Ozzfest. It was one of the best concerts I have ever seen, up there with getting to see Metallica in 1986 at K.C. Kember Arena, a few months before Cliff was killed and getting high With System of a Down in 1999. I am not rubbing it in, dude, I am just saying it was a nice experience and those were few and far between because I live 150 miles from the nearest arena, which sucks.

Alucard kiddo you will never ever see a show like Pantera EVER. I saw them waaaaaaay back in the bowrey in NYC b4 you were a thought and I've been to countless shows since, not a 1,no matter who,has ever come close to the pit at a Pantera show!!!!! I get chills watching the vids....because I survived their shows....lol

  • @TallSomeone

Pantera was about going on stage and being as phenomenal a group as possible, just by their gift. You can focus on the culture part, but every position at this team is the best in the business. Drums? Bass? Dime? Are we kidding ourselves? The best thing you can teach your kids is that they were practiced, gifted and motivated talent. This is NOT drunk, crazy, random stuff. Every position on this team is an all-star in musical execution.

Is it just me or do American metal heads of the 90's seem way more badass and intense and moshing it up etc than they do today? Nowadays they just seem to stand there or text on their phones? What happened to the American metal head?
