      I never leave those labels on the NVMe SSD, it's going to transfer heat away a lot better without that label between the heatsink and the chips my dude! Make sure the thermal pad is contacting the chips directly for maximum cooling and heat transform to the aluminum heat sink

    • @windowsalternative2203
      @windowsalternative2203 8 місяців тому

      Think about it like this I know the NVMe doesn't get as hot but think if you had that paper between your cooler and the CPU it wouldn't cool for shit, so why would you leave a label between the chips and the thermal pad of the NVMe heatsink?

    • @windowsalternative2203
      @windowsalternative2203 8 місяців тому

      Direct contact to any chip is and will always be the best way to transfer heat away from any chip really.

    I'm surprised to see you guys reccomend not only 16gb of ram for a 1440p $1000 system, but a 7600 non xt?? this build makes no sense for a $1000 system... this is like $700 worth of performance at best, and will need to be upgraded immediately.
    here is what I would build instead. you get a very capable 5600x, wifi b550 mobo, better cooler, 32 GB of ram, an actually good power supply, and the proper amount of budget allocated to the GPU, a 7700xt. This is an amazing $1000 1440p build that I would highly reccomend over the one depicted in the video. Am5 is just not cheap enough yet for anything under about $1200 to be worthwhile. You get a bit worse upgrade path because its am4 not am5, but the performance is so much better that you wont be needing to upgrade for a while. and when you do, the 5800x3d is right there.

    I've been modifying/building my own pc's ever since I "took the plunge" and installed some individual ram chips on the motherboard of a Compaq 286 machine. I also installed a 3.5" floppy drive! My next pc was a 2nd hand 386 box which had a hard drive! I then upgraded that with a 486 motherboard and processor. Then it was Pentium 1/2/3 etc. I think pc building is a lot easier now. If it does, maybe by a couple of fps. not worth underspeccing a build within this budget with a shitty card like a 7600
      You can also stretch the budget a little on a 12600K dirt cheap lately if it matters that much to you, but getting a 4070 or 7800XT into that price class is way, way way more important.

      I done did it this way my whole darn life, change is hard I guesses. But on a real note we take coolers off all the time for testing purposes and as long as you get enough in the middle it'll spread out pretty even on its own.

      @@ToastyBros yea but not 100% sure it's not on 100% of the ihs.. just takes a moment to do it right. I enjoyed your video and think you explained everything else really well.

      Actually as long as the die is covered then you're fine, there's no need to actually cover the whole thing except to make someone feel better. IDK where the whole "doing it right" comes from because a lot of computer technicians do the same thing/way.

    • @xpodx
      @xpodx Рік тому

      @justinbogard6700 well some tests people have done where a pea or line and doesn't get all the corners and it is cooler and it will perform a little better and just cover the whole damn thing. No excuse.

    • @justinbogard6700
      @justinbogard6700 Рік тому

      @@xpodx look dude when you get a company where you build computers and sell them for a living, do whatever the hell you want. For your information you only have to cover the die and if you don't know why or what a die is you shouldn't be building a computer until you understand what you're doing. The 12th gen cpu's have a cooling problem because they bend, that's why they make aftermarket brackets to keep it from happening and over heating. I'm pretty sure they're doing pretty good building computers. It would be different if you said, hey I was told..... and you do it differently and why is that instead of saying your way is right. No matter what you do in life there's always more than one way to do something, which doesn't make either party right or wrong. If that's what works best for you then cool but if that's what works best for him then it's all good too.

    I was about to tell you that you installed the m.2 incorrectly, then I realized the heat sink and m.2 standoff appear to use the same screw on one side? Every motherboard I've ever installed had a separate screw for the motherboard heat sink and the m.2.

    Question: How could the heatsink for the M.2 work with that label in the way, and if the chips don't make good direct contact with the thermal pad?? You're not the first UA-cam builder I've seen do this and to me that should be common sense. FOLKS YOUR M.2 heatsink won't work if the label is left on the M.2 and those chips aren't making good direct contact with the heartsink's thermal pad. This is no different Jackson then leaving that sticker on the CPU cooler, it renders that heatsink you installed the m.2 under ineffective, and shortens the life of the M.2 due to it getting to hot anyways.

    This drives me insane and I know there will be the argument you will void the warranty, which is a valid argument. I hate when people install m.2 heat sinks and don’t peel the sticker off the m.2 drive. Does it affect thermals….maybe maybe not but I want direct contact between the thermal pad and m.2. My rants done

    • @ToastyBros
      @ToastyBros  Рік тому +1

      I've seen a few videos of people testing thermals between the sticker on the drive being left on and taken off, and it really doesn't change the temps at all. Might as well keep that warranty!
