I would go for a ryzen 5500 more cores for almost same price, just swap cpu for ryzen 5500 and board to a b550, games like warzone/fortnite are very cpu hungry, it will even cost you less, b550 boards with similar specs costs around 80$, ryzen 5500 97$, the rest of the build is fine as it is

    • @star5328

@@DrezzarEC006 If you're going 5500 you can even shop b450 builds. 5500 can't use gen 4 pcie anyways and honestly for just gaming gen 4 isn't necessary so b450 will have the same upgrade path.

Feels super good to watch this after post first PC build and realize how close I was to actually making it the way it's meant to be... I'd almost say I 100% followed this correctly + I did an extra step where I did an open bench launch to make sure that I was doing everything right xD Stressful thing to do but it was a lot of fun, Runs well with very good temps. Got told not to go with an air cooler as my 13600KF would run "super hot" but I went with a peerless assassin and the thing has never gone over 70c as far as I can tell. Only issue is my 3070ti which I've heard runs hot, and mine has always run hot... Probably will fix that very soon

Start with PSU and with cables not used. Take each 1 and fold and zip tie in smallest package possible. Take the cables you need and trial route them then bundle up the excess and zip tie that. Gets rid of that snake nest you got. Thermal paste, tighten down your fan and then take it back off. Look at paste coverage. If not happy, wipe fan and chip and try another pattern with high quality paste. Especially that skimpy line you put down in the upgrade.

small but potentially important correction: around the 9:30-9:40 mark, jackson says that memory typically goes in slots 1 & 3 on most mobos. i believe he did this accidentally and meant to say 2 & 4 - the appropriate slots to use with two ram sticks on almost all current 4-slot boards, afaik.

Built this with 32GB ram, 2TBssd, Jonsbo Pisa A5 cooler and 750W power supply instead, and additional fan at top rear for $751.45 with tax. These upgrades were only for my satisfaction. Because the MB and GPU were slightly more cost at time of purchase, their exact build would have costed me slightly more than $660 with my state's tax. Good video and a great first build that more than suits my needs. I don't need the bragging rights of a more expensive build.

    Specs:
    5600x CPU w/ Thermalriight assassin x120 R SE
    Gigabye b550m-K
    16 GB SP Zenith 3200mhz DDR4
    1TB Solidigm P41 Gen 4 Nvme
XFX 6600 8GB (as shown here)
Zalman Gigamax 600w (as shown here)
Montech Air 100 ARGB Matx Case
Also throwing in an old Seagate Barricuda drive that's strangely 1.5TB that I pulled out of an old PC.
Hope it turns out great cuz im about to just have a second pc.

You should definitely install the extra standoffs and screw down the right side of the motherboard. It provides support when plugging in and out that 24 pin PSU connector and other things so you do not stress the PCB. Yes, you can get by without them, but for the sake of making an instructional video, you should probably do it the right way. That said, cool tip about the CPU cooler fan to keep the cable out of the way!

Got a suggestion for you in terms of a future video. Since you'all seem to refurbish a lot of older PC's that have been refurbished for gaming by companies that don't always do a complete job refurbishing the PC, how about a video on cleaning and replacing BONE DRY thermal paste.
For reference, I rebuilt a server that had two XEON processors. One of the processors had dry but pliable thermal paste on the CPU. The other processor had thermal paste that was BONE DRY. It was literally so dry that bits of it started flaking off the moment I removed the heat sink. The heatsink actually was more caked with dry thermal paste than the CPU. I ended up cleaning the heatsink using hydrogen peroxide and isopropyl alcohol. It was NOT my preferred choice but it was what I had available at the time.

Totally new to your channel, somehow you guys got passed me. I'm looking to do a budget build that would allow me to work in a used GTX 1080 Ti into the mix, considering they $150 now and have 11gbs of VRAM. I like this case, I have a lot of issues with budget builders that select bad cases. I was thinking of going with a B450 and a Ryzen 4500 for the extra cores. Mainly just because Intel CPUs get hot with their stock coolers and I thought I would get better performance with the 4500 and the 1080 Ti and be able to build the PC for $$150 less.
Thing is, I wanna be able to follow your instructions step by step, but I think the 450 motherboard is pretty much the same right, I should be able to figure it out on the AMD side? I dunno. Looking at prices it looks like the i3 12100f is actually a few dollars cheaper than the 4500, and I watched a video of someone pairing the i3-12100 and the GTX 1080 Ti this morning with great results. And with intel, this has a slight upgrade path, while the b450 shuts you down. I just wanted the extra VRAM, 8 is not enough now.
What do you think, any comments? Shit, ya'll have over half a million subs, you ain't hearing me. Hahahaha. If anyone in the comments reads my long winded rant, and would like to chat, people offer your opinion. I want a $450 budget PC, that's got some balls, and the only way I can figure that out is with using a 1080 ti

Do you guys care to build in some itx cases? Specifically the KXRORS S400 and S500, DAN A4 H20, and SSUPD Meshlicious. These cases are on my top radar. I’m mainly wanting to build a portable rig and I’ve also been curious to see if they’d fit in a backpack.

Nice build, tho if u cheap out on the motherboard for exemple MSI A520M PRO and the case, u can get it cheaper with RX6650 XT with at a even lower price.

Any issue with building this with the I5 to start and the 6600? Wouldn't it just run better from the start with the I5 looking to upgrade the GPU in the future?
