nope this is an arm processsor and the ram is shared as video gddr ram. even if your pc cpu has a lower clock on paper, it will still be stronger. this is also lpddr4x ram. these are made for low energy usage. so your pc is probably not slower than this phone(unless you're running 10 year old pc''s)
well, the processor speed and ram on paper are equal to that on my laptop. Its probably a little slower but its just as capable it seems, scary thought :)

this is a phone for people who don't care about flaunting designer brand devices just to say they have it. this device does everything that a Galaxy, iPhone, or LG can do, and it does it faster and clearer. the only real thing to complain about is the aesthetic (which is subjective and meaningless once you also a case on it) even though that metal body is so much more resilient than the new glass trend, and the lack of significant water resistance. now I've personally never had any of my phones suffer water damage but that bit of security is nice for peace of mind. but other than that? nothing. people are just trying to justify why they spent nearly a thousand dollars on devices that are on par with or outperformed by a device that's half the cost. but hey, at least you got a prettier phone for the extra several hundred dollars you paid. that's something, I guess

I don't know if it's worth the upgrade from the oneplus 3. The only thing that seems to be better is the camera which I didn't have a complaint on the oneplus 3, because I don't take a lot of pictures in the first place. I'm just keeping my oneplus 3.

It will not force me to switch to op5 from op3. Camera seems better on this,my tongue is out because of that dual camera only. Though, best wishes to ONEPLUS for their new flagship.

MrShockwave it's a really hard question to answers. iPhone has its own customized production chain, so it's not hard for them to make the iPhone the way they want it to be, but for a small company like oneplus, oppo, they share production chain to low down the cost. But with price like this pretty good though.
You know that having dual cameras means that having them in the corner is pretty much the only way not to make the phone ugly, right?

It does have amazing specs. I would exchange it for my 3T rn, everthing for the Dual Camera
it's practically the same from the back as the iPhone 7. the footprint is similar and the cameras and flash are in the exact same place

$479 and $539 isn't too high actually, considering there were rumors for $600+
499eur(550usd) and 559eur(620usd) in europe. its pretty bad as for example in germany you can get galaxy s7 much cheaper

Luke Murphy Dude, who the hell will think of removing the OIS? Technically, the 3T is more "bang for the buck" kind than the 5. They also spent literally nothing towards its redesign which is boring now. (Good they have a headphone jack)

Actidyac optical image stablization. the company boasts "clearer pictures" but removing the OIS will just result in granier night time shots.
And the reason of not having that feature might be the dual camera I guess..
Actidyac i wish they retained the single lens. i never cared about the 2X zoom if anything i would've preferred the wide angle like G6.

Why is everyone complaining about the price of the oneplus 5. Recently I got an iPhone 7plus unlocked at Best Buy the price was 1079 taxes included. Stop bitching about the price
Oneplus is supposed to compete with Apple and Samsung but at a much lower price. That's their thing. The sell to that very specific audience. Once the price went up it stopped being for that very specific audience. Apple sells you anything at any price and you will buy it because you aren't buying it as a phone with great features at a low price, but because Apple is a status symbol.

I think what most tech reviewers lacked in their reviews are audio test, specifically microphone quality. Try record some videos in a loud environment(concert, pub) or having someone to play the drums would be a good test on the microphones. I'm a musician and I find HTC's and Lumia's are superior in this area. Cheers! :)

HTC U 11 is more value for money since its around the same price $599 USD but better camera, better screen (2K display) and amazing boom sound speakers and the best audio experiences (e.g. 360 degrees sound) among all the smartphones these days, also expendable memory and water and dust resistance.

For those who are saying the LG6 has a huge price drop, keep in mind that the LG6 unlocked is about $700. The OP5 is still about $200 cheaper with both OP5 models and is an unlocked phone.

Great review! Just ordered the OP5 128GB version. Still using a OP2 (that still works great btw), so can't wait! Bummer on the ip68 certification, but oh well. You get what you pay for, just don't go swimming with it, hah! You should give the guys over at The Verge some help btw, they're not seeing things clearly *eye roll*.
Zooming in 2 times *does* lower the quality of the picture since it still zooms digitally. The zoom difference of the two cameras is only x1.34

I've owned every single phone out there and OP5 is up there with the competitors. I wish it had a QHD screen, but it's a small price to pay for.

They were given review units prior to the official announcement today at 12 PM EST and made all their reviews in advance. Most likely, they weren't allowed to release their videos before the official announcement.

Rather spend couple hundred more on a complete package like the HTC U11 or LG G6. Otherwise an HTC 10, GS7, or Asus Zenfone 3 for same price will do just fine.
Dennis Wu I'd probably take the OP5 over the G6, because of Oxygen OS, and the Snapdragon 835 with Bluetooth 5.0. The U11 is a more interesting comparison though. HTC did so much right with it, and they actually have it competitively priced for once. If HTC ever has a $50 off sale, or something like that, it's a no brainer in my opinion.

As for the camera, the OnePlus 5 takes remarkable photos and the camera is made with DxoMark who rates smartphone cameras. Design of the phone is subjective. Software updates have been pretty solid on the 3T so...

Exactly what my previous reason of customer support was. The worse the customer support, the worse the reliabilty. It's simple really. There's been far too many issues too that oneplus users have faced since the dawn of their existance, that is if you take into account how many sold by how many defective. This fact also makes oneplus phones seem less reliable. I'm not sure if this will be the case with the oneplus 5, but I can estimate that chances are that it will. I hope this clears my point about other flagships being more reliable.
Giovanni Cheng The camera on the oneplus 5 is nothing special as well, video recording is far worse than any other flagship like the G6 or S8. The photos are improved but nowhere near the google pixel or S8 level of quality.

Snapdragon 835 with Bluetooth 5.0 though. That's not a small difference when you consider long term use. I think the U11 is a better comparison (and depending on what's important to you, the U11 wins).
2 years of usage let's say, with a 820 you will not have problems. I thing this is not a flagship killer anymore :(

That and the improvements made to the 835 from the 821 (like Bluetooth 5.0 for instance, not to mention efficiency), help the overall value proposition. The G6 kills the OP5 in the camera department, even though that's not the fairest of fights given LG's history.

In all honesty I had to ask myself. Waterproofing is great to have but. I'd never really want my water proof phone in water anyway because of how much I spend on it. Yes it's useful for accidents but I can go without it.
hello everyone, today i experienced this problem on the back panel of the phone while charging, buzzing electric shock. however, if you connect it to a power back there's no such problem.
Also,Earlier maximum temperature while charging OP5 was around 35 degree, but from last 2 days it is going upto 42 degree Celcius. phone became very hot. i had never experienced heating issue before.
Certainty there is some current leak issue while charging on AC.

Hey guys great vid. I have a question. I am rocking a Galaxy Note 4 from the past 3 years and so far it has been a solid phone (using a Note 7 custom ROM with it). But I believe it is time to upgrade. I want to ask whether I should buy OnePlus 5 or Xperia XZ Premium as price is not an issue. I also feel that I should wait for the Galaxy Note 8 as S-Pen is very useful(but not something I can't do without). Sometimes I also feel that the LG V20 would be a good bet as it has tons of essential features like removable battery,IR blaster....basically an upgraded Note 4 without an S Pen. Though most likely I will be waiting for Note 8, but I am also looking forward to hearing other's opinions on this. Thanks a lot.

Quad HD doesn't bother me, I got a Galaxy S8 last month and I still have it on 1080p and haven't changed it once. It still looks better than my last phone - Huawei P9
Kinda glad I didn't wait for this phone and purchased the G8. Plus. I'm very surprised OnePlus 5 kept those large bezels and also the front fingerprint scanner could you stand that now that I have the S8 Plus
I love iPhone's design & Google's Android. Man, this phone is made for me!!
The OnePlus iPhone is what it should be called. So similar in design. Kind of disappointed it doesn't have flagship parts and specs, especially at $550 for the 128GB variant. My Pixel has everything a newer phone does and is less than say an S8 or iPhone 7 Plus.

No expandable storage, no optical image stabilization, higher price, iPhone appearance. Literally the opposite of what I wanted. I should have bought a 3T while they were still for sale.

I was thinking about our mentality regarding smartphones. As i regularly watch all the reviews of major flagships as well as budget phone on youtube. The best phones i have seen are Moto g5 plus and OP5. If we think for a minute..what we need a phone for? As an adult we are already very busy with our work. We only want our phones to provide decent performance as well as have a battery life of atleast 1 day. The snaps must be good. But mainly we use it for fb, whatspp, checking mails, watching videos and listening songs. As many reviewers are complaining that op5 had copied design from iphone, have thick bezels and doesn't have ois. But in real life does these really matter? The only thing i want from my phone is that it doesn't lag in day to day task, click decent pics when needed and must have good battery life. If op5 is providing these all features at a good price then people should not complain. No one uses 4k video. 1080p is enough. No one zooms their pics and complain that there is noise in picture... As ultimately we only click our pics to post on fb or insta. Where no one will zoom ur pictures and see noise or oversaturation in it. So in my view op5 is the best phone for day to day tasks at a moderate price range and same goes for moto g5 plus. So use ur phone like a phone. Dont complain that ur phone doesn't have this feature like other bcoz at the end of the day we wont be needing it. This is only a wrong mentality of people. Use ur phone but have some social life also. Dont spend too much on phones. Technology is evolving fast and ur phones wont be the best for a long time. This is my honest opinion about all phones. So, should I buy the Samsung s7 or oneplus 5t? They are pretty much the same price. I was going to get the a7 today at Best Buy but have to wait a couple days to get it. Anyways, which one should I get for $475? I truly appreciate any positive and honest feedback. Thanks.
Its actually Apple who copied the design from Oppo, the mother company of OnePlus (Oppo R11). Why did not one care that Apple copied a Chinese manufacturer's phone that had been on the market for over 1.5 year when the iPhone 7 came out and why does not everyone blame OnePlus for delivering the same industrial design that Oppo has been for the last 3 years, since they use the same manufacturing processes?
