- Welcome back Justice League!
If you're like me and you struggle to throw your discs nose down, I HIGHLY suggest watching this video through as I go over something I've noticed in my form that's causing me to do it!
Throwing nose up by nature causes any disc to act more stable as well as loses a big chunk of distance. By following this disc golf tip, you may be able to throw with your nose down more accurately and make more consistent shots that cover more distance! If you want to stop struggling to throw nose down, this may be the video for you!

Disc golf TUTORIALS are so done to death. This is a FRESH take. It's more like...Hey, let's all LEARN TOGETHER. Love that.
Thank you very much for that! We can all grow together! 💯🙌🏽
"Slap the horizon" is something a buddy who got me into disc golf told me, and after a lot of practice it really helped. Basically pick a spot in the distance in front of you in the horizon and try to slap it while following through with your arm. LOVE your reviews and teaching videos btw.
Definitely giving this a try! Thank you very much! 🙏🏽🙏🏽
This is cool stuff. Gonna try also
You have a great personality for YT, the algorithm keeps putting you on the main list. Here is a trick that is completely missed by current YT coaching…. Think about how your wrist actually works… try the movement of throwing a dart and you will see it moves smoothest at about 45 degrees. Now grab the disc with index finger and thumb and use the dart movement. Notice how smooth it is? So when you throw rotate your right forearm just a bit clockwise to flatten the disc. Assuming you are getting forward weight shift on front leg, the disc will come out flat. That stressing of your wrist joint is very detrimental to the complex structure going into hand, don’t end up with damage later due to the plethora of “non-biometric” coaching on YT.
Thank you very much! I really appreciate those kind words 🙏🏽 and that’s a great little tip I’ll have to give it a shot!
You grew the dreads back in no time! Sick!
i love that you refuse to claim to be an expert in any of your videos despite being an excellent player. your honesty is a gift. i appreciate you
I appreciate those kind words my friend! I don’t want people to get the wrong impression because I’m far from a teacher or expert 😅
come on bro! 450 foot toss is no joke.
Definitely should have DP on your channel and have him break down his form. He's got pro tour potential and some of the most clean and compact form+distance on the planet. Once again great video, very enjoyable to watch i'm definitely taking notes on editing and production
I absolutely love watching DP throw. Both backhand and forehand is soooooo smooth. I’d love to get him on the channel 💯 thanks for the support brother! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙌🏽
You just single handedly fixed my nose up problem, and I've tried everything! Even this tip lol, the first year I started I figured this out near the end of the year then the off season hit and I 100% forgot I was doing this and started working on everything else but nose angle. I guess I just never developed the muscle memory. Three years later and you come down with this revelation and now my discs are flying like they should have been..for years. True disc golf justice if you ask me. Huge thank you!
Watch I’m 4 months I’ll need to come back to this video again as well 😂😂 glad I could help remind ya!
@@discgolfjustice sometimes the best way to learn is by teaching. I don't think you'll forget it, and hey now you got that info out there it's your solo contribution to the sport. I haven't heard it anywhere else. Only reason it slipped by me was I discovered that as I was practicing on like the last warm week of the year out here before winter and didn't really have a crew at the time to keep throwing so that knowledge went on the ice for 4 months and was doa by spring.
Oh I’m sure it’s been said a million times before 😅 hopefully it helps some folks tho!
Do not discount that distance at all! Those were smooth and even if it is a little downhill, those are solid bombs. Looking forward to your progress! Hearing that "tip the tea kettle" metaphor is a good start and it was great to see you put that together with the wrist angle. Really great production on these man. Keep up the great work.
Thank you very much! When I threw it it didn’t really feel like a bomb but when I got down there I was like holy smokes that went a long ways 😅 Preciate the support fam! 🙏🏽
Dude love your videos. Clean Filming and good vibes. Thanks for the tips! Trying to get consistent with over 400. It’s work.
Thank you very much for that Jesse! Kind words like that go a long way! 🙏🏽🙌🏽
I like to aim with my watch. Not that I am wearing one on my throwing hand, but imagining I have one on and aim it at my release point. This helps me get more snap on the disc as well as keeps my nose down by correctly orienting my wrist angle. Sick hat BTW
That’s an interesting way to line up your shot but I reckon it sounds like it would work really well! I’ll give it a crack! Thanks man 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Refreshing take!! I also learned whatever motion you do - long as the very end your wrist stays flat. "Turning the key clockwise" as I heard it being called.
And I mean, Calvin has a mean elbow swoop but he tosses them 500-600 ft like nothing. So it really comes down to the very, last end of the wrist motion. Idk, its all trial and error. I finally got nose down at the very end of the 2023 season.
I find that rotating my thumb toward the center of the flight plate 30 degrees or so helps with nose angle and power. It also puts the disc more on my fingertips which helps me with snap. I do have very large hands (10.5”) so it might just be a me thing. I enjoy your videos - good stuff!
I might have to give that a crack! Thank you Rich! 🙏🏽🙏🏽
I had the problem starting the run up starting forward and too many steps. I started my approach from the side and have been able to keep nose down and throw a lot better. Smooth and simple is working for me.
Hey if it ain’t broke don’t fix it! 💯
Nice tip! I've been having the ol' nose up issue and I have tried so many different things. But I tried this out, and instantly started throwing nose down. Awesome! Thank you for the tip!
Great video! Thanks for the help :)
I Tried this after i watched this video, and it helped me alot!! So Thanks for the tip!🤩
Glad it helped mate! 🙌🏽
'eeey! Just a random comment from a random person, but my maaaaan. Stumbled across your videos a while ago and been enjoying every one of 'em. Content is smooth and you seem like a genuine chill dude. Big ups from the ccccccccccold Finland! So jealous of that...non-snowy field 🤤
Major thank you for that mate! Kind words like that really help motivate me to keep going! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Gonna try this out tomorrow :)
Good luck! Hope it works for ya!
Great video! Keep it up
Thank you!! 🙏🏽🙌🏽
Man my dad used to say “what it is, what it was, what it could be”, I’m gonna subscribe just for that. Nose down is so difficult.
Hahaha he sounds like a great man! Preciate the support mate! 🙏🏽
@@discgolfjustice he was a great man! Thanks bro, I hope your channel makes it to 100k subs +, I like this content. Played traditional golf since age 4-5, played disc golf 10-12 years ago then went back to golf. Got back into disc golf right around the same time you did last year and I’ve been hooked again ever since.
Comments like these go a looooong way brother! Really appreciate those kind words! Glad to hear you’re back in this sport! Definitely the most addicting thing I’ve eveeer done 💯
Well done!
Thank you! 🙏🏽
Good rips bro , killing it 💪. Good tips. Thank you.
Thank you man! 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Appreciate you bro
Just doin what I know any disc golf would do!
what helped me with the nose up problem was to put the disc in between your 2nd and 3rd finger..right in the gap when gripping the disc..
Throwing bombs now I bet!
@@discgolfjustice i wish... Stuck at that 375ft range
Honestly I feel like 375’ is all you need as long as you’re half decent at putting 😅 I’d gladly trade some of my distance for better putting
@@discgolfjustice yeah my putting is the worst part of my game..most boring to practice aswell 😅
It’s the worst part of all our games hahahaha 😂
Thanks for the video!
Hope it helps! 🙌🏽
Thanks for the info
First time seeing one of your videos, good work. When I started the thing I was told that helped more with the arm movement than the wrist was that you're "ripping tape off of your nipples" (lol) but like I said, that didn't help with the wrist. The tea kettle thing doesn't really work to me because you're never spraying tea all over the place, you point and dip when you're pouring. A better one for me has been walking a dog or spraying a water hose without a nozzle. Wrist angle is not just important for keeping the nose down, it's also really important for getting snap and spin on the backhand. It's almost microscopic but if you slow down a pro's throw, their wrist breaks over right before they release the disc. It's a really weird, uncomfortable angle at first but just moving your hand side to side like you're watering a garden really does help.
Hahahaha I like the ripping tape off the nipples 😂
I can't wait to try this, this makes a lot of sense.
Hope it works for ya mate!
Nah you’re crushing it bro. This is my first year playing too and this is giving me some inspiration
Thank you very much for that! It’s comments like these that motivate me to keep going! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
This actually such a good tip. That is what I was doing wrong as well while I was "pouring the coffee" Also the wild honey is my go to bomber.
I feel like that’s the problem with the “pour the coffee method” if you legitimately act like you’re pouring coffee, your wrist is naturally rotated back into a nose up position. At least for me 😅 absolutely loving the wild honey!
This video validated what helped me which was rotating my thumb (top of palm) right. That and locking my elbow instead of reaching. Is this still what you do to stay nose down? Thanks!
I made a similar change and my theory on why it works is that the Uli and Calvin pump fake motion that they use for timing the back leg adds moving parts for newer players.
I’ve also thought about trying to ad that little pump into my form as well but I just need to stick to it 😅
dope vid great tips!!
Thank you man! 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Good tips
I'm going to try this. I have that same issue. Nose angle. People keep telling me poor, and it just is not working and think it's the same thing. Wrist is moving upwards. It's time to go backhand slap the air 😂
I hope it works for ya! 🙌🏽
@@discgolfjustice did you ever do a swooping video as well? Think we have had the same issue
Sometimes I click your videos to just here the intro.
😂😂😂 hahaha and then leave right away because the rest of the video sucks 😂😂
Do you know how far you were throwing before you corrected ?
Great video! Looking forward to more. Thanks man. Insta sub’d.
Thank you!! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
454 feet whaaat. Man I’m so confused I’m throwing and the discs fly forever and look far but my U disc says 305-310 feet lol. Man I need to see in person someone throwing this far so I can see what it really looks like. Thanks for the tips I will definitely try this
Dudes been playing 7 months and hitting 450... Sheeeesh. I've been playing about the same and having issues getting to 300
If there’s anything I’ve learned so far it’s that distance is pointless! I’d much rather be a good putter 💯
🔥
Jesus... Fuckin... Christ...
Thanks mate. I am a bloody idiot.. its been a year for me and seriously having issues with nose up... when I knock off work in a few hours I am giving this a crack.
Earned my sub bro! I just started and I be throwing to the MOON….
Preciate the support fam! It’s an issue we all battle with 💯
That distance for less than a year is pretty sick. The next generation of disc golfers who are starting even much younger are going to be something else.
Ya this next generation is going to be absolutely next level. I’m nearly 29 so it’s too late for me but we have some youngins over here that already throw twice as far as me nearly. Blake Houston is a name I reckon a lot of people will know one day! 17 year old kid and already throws over 700’
Scott Stokely pretty much said this. So this is definitely legit.
Scott is an absolute legend. If he said it then I definitely feel more confident about the video 😅😂
Pour the coffee, then turn the key
Oooooh I’ve never heard the turn the key one I like that!! Pour the coffee turn the key baby 💯
if the face of the disc shows itself to you when it turns to left finishing fade that means its nose up .. yes swooping is the main cause tbh..
Ya I gotta iron out the swooping next 💯
