@@tristan_tanner13 hey Tristan, if you get this...when you say curl the wrist, do you mean inward toward your body, downward like the coffee pour direction, or a combination of both? Cheers.
Excellent...best introduction to a disc golf video EVER... you stated what the problem was...plus # of people that you've seen have this issue (builds credibility)...what the video was going to do for the viewer and then got started...THANK YOU
Sheesh bro! Thats the clearest and most value filled disc golf tutorial video I’ve ever watched. Especially for intermediate players. PLEASE keep making these!
I’ve watched a ton of form help videos and this is the first one I’ve seen that explicitly mentions curling the wrist. I’ve got something to practice now.
Same. I actually figured that one out on my own when I thought my spacing was pretty good and still felt that I was rounding. Of course, I forgot to concentrate on it.
to add to my comment; What I've seen on my form records is that when I get to the part where you're starting to pull with your core and shoulder, I just pull too fast and my wrist is kinda "unloading".. like it's breaking outwards before the hit, so I notice a huge difference in spin when I slow down and get the timing right.
Dang, wish more of UA-cam was like this. What an actionable video. I almost never comment but this one totally deserves it. Great job, got a sub from me. Well done. Would love to see some forehand advice as well.
Dude, this is the only video that solved a rounding problem I have been having and you addressed two of it others don't. I was thinking why i kept rounding even after reach out instead of back.
@@tristan_tanner13seriously, while making our video I implement the wrist curl and it was insane how it all came together. It was the final piece I’ve been missing 👍😎
SO refreshing with someone going straight to the information, good tips and how to execute without first talking 10 minutes about what they are going to teach you. Awesome. If I could, I'd subscribe again.
Thank you Tristan! I tend to forget about curling my wrist sometimes and i feel like im going crazy because i can't throw as far or accurate. This video is exactly what i needed!
I like to say that your form is the one i most try to emulate and watching the smoothness of your form has added 75% more accuracy to my shots. Today actually i was thinking about the curling of my wrist and ended getting the exact and nigh on perfect shot on a hole ive been trying to 2 for 4 years
Watching this late at night so I can't go immediately try it out. But I love the concise tips that are straight to the point and with excellent explanation as to what and why you're doing something wrong. Eager to get out to do some field work and put these into practice. Thanks!
I want to echo the comments I've read: this is very concise, easy to understand and not full of useless filler info. Excellent video.I will share this with my friends because we could all use the help!
You just nailed a bunch of my problems. The head has been a huge one. Whenever I commit to head down the disc is always much flatter and straighter. It's a hard habit to break. I keep forgetting about the wrist thing. A good reminder to think about today.
Any good brace tips? I feel like I plant my front foot, but don't actually brace, I keep my weight back too much. I am currently just working on a one step, making sure my weight goes forward and I am centered more. That is helping, but whenever I add a full run up, I still struggle to get forward and brace. I will keep drilling the one step until it becomes my form.
@tristantannerdiscgolf thanks. This video alone helped a ton today. By not opening the wrist on the reach back, I was able to throw much more straight and consistent in one session. It actually made the whole weight shift feel comfortable and smooth. Still lots to tweak, but it was a big help. I was throwing these beautiful dead straight floaty putter shots. I do have to get the nose down now, as my mids and my drivers were really high and not going much farther. I feel more consistent now and see a path forward. Thank you so much!
I've been playing casually for 20+ years. These quick videos are exactly the simple reminders I need to improve my game. I can watch these clips in the soccer field and then practice applying the adjustment. Thanks, Tristan!
I started playing around with this yesterday at my home course. This video has unlocked something for me that I haven't been able to figure out previously. Very to the point explanation that is immediately adding effortless distance to my throws. Now I just need to work on my aim when using it to make sure I understand where its releasing. Good stuff!
Haven't been able to test it yet, but this is an extremely well produced video. I'm really excited to try these at my next field work session. I have one important question, does the wrist stay curled the same during the throw? Or do you uncurl it at the release point?
Gosh dang that open wrist was robbing me blind for a solid year and a half. My releases are all over the place with this wrist tweak but when i get em on line they do go further. So now i just gotta get my release timing dialed in with the wrist changes and ill be feeling pretty confident on the teepad. Thanks Tristan!
Soooo gooood!!! Perfect breakdown, tip number 1 and 3 are things I've thought about changing just because it felt right but having it explained why it is important really makes me want to implement the changes right away! Thank you!!
Guilty, guilty, guilty. You named my three bad habits. I knew two of them, but having trouble breaking them. The wrist curl thing i didn't know. Antilla is the only pro I can actually see doing this, so I thought it was optional. Great video! Very concise and easy to understand. Thank you sir!
I would like to say another positive comment about this. Even if form tips don’t work for everyone (due to misunderstanding or different body type or overall different mechanics that they want to use) I think this is very good food for thought. And, food for thought is exactly what this sport needs to grow. So if the form tips you’re talking about help you, then they serve as “data points” about what works for some people and what also doesn’t work for some people. Coming from you, you clearly honorably dedicated a lot of time into this amazing sport and it is a great privilege to see what works for you. This gives me great food for thought, and I think what works best for me is watching throws and just trying to copy… and also having videos like these in my head to add “stock” to arguments of why or why not certain things work for me. Thank you very much!
I was working on form a lot the past few years but nothing made such a difference than keeping my eyes on the disc. Trying to keep the head back never worked for me. This tip really made a huge change for me. Thanks ❤
Teaching online and teaching in person are very different. Language online has to be way more intentional. I’m actively working on it, glad you enjoyed!

Seconded. Very clear, concise, yet enough explanation to instill confidence. Great video, Tanner.
Curling to bring the disc on line closer to the forearm
3 minute video taught me more than watching disc golf tutorials for months

@@brianc1651 I would think it has to be done in the field?
I find that concentrating on the middle and ring finger really improves accuracy (with proper foot placement) when gripping from a curled wrist.
Probably the GOAT form video right here 👏👏👏
When you were demonstrating not to look where the disc was going and that kid was walking by my whole body tensed up. Great comedic timing.
I do my best to not throw discs at kids!

Day 1 of field work.
Attempting to "sit down" and not be so upright. Curling the wrist during reach back. Keeping my head neutral and "looking" at the center of the power pocket without following disc with my eyes on release.
Results: Average distance was appoximately the same asnormal (most shots between 105-112m).
Analysis: This is a good sign. Everything felt a little different, wrist and legs especially. The fact that I didn't have a drop off while incorporating new ideas bodes well. (field was extremely wet/soggy today as well). Definitely worth giving it another week or two of field reps to see if there's improvement after getting used to the new motions.
"Sitting down" seemed to add a bit of power to my more overstable shots in particular, as I'm usually standing straighter through those shots to throw flat/anhyzer
